Get that Truck!

Get that Truck![]

Delighted with the construction of his new arm, The Mechanic's joy is short lived when he realizes that his bionic eye is now causing issues. Deciding to build a new one, and and two of his henchmen make their way to one of Borg Industries' storage depots to scavenge for Nindroids. Arriving at the storage facility, the Mechanic and his goons cut open the fence and make their way to the entrance, laughing at how it was unguarded this entire time.

Back at the Monastery of Spinjitzu, Zane picks up an alert sent from the Borg Industries facility about a break-in. Knowing how dangerous scrapped Nindroid parts can be if used in the wrong hands, Lloyd calls on all the Ninja to make their way to the facility. Unfortunately, they arrive just in time to witness the Noodle Truck of Crime making its getaway, forcing the Ninja to pursue. Using the ShuriCopter, Zane quickly pulled up above the Noodle Truck, but was caught off guard by the Mechanic's tricks, including an anti-aircraft turret and extendable giant spoons. Sustaining damage, Zane is forced to return to the Monastery for necessary repairs to his copter.

The rest of the ninja, pursuing in their land based vehicles, realize that the Mechanic is heading towards Dyer Island. Upon this realization, Jay begins to gush about Milton Dyer and his company's games, adding that his favorite of all time was Pinball Racer. Nya interrupted Jay's reminiscing however, reminding him to stay focused on the task at hand.

As they continue to pursue, the Ninja wonder if there is a connection between Dyer and the Mechanic, to which Jay squeals that he would love to meet Dyer himself. Meanwhile, Lloyd updated Cyrus Borg on their ongoing pursuit, during which the latter urged the Ninja to avoid any unnecessary risks, deeming the Mechanic's theft of a single cybernetic eyeball to be unimportant. The Mechanic then made a sharp turn into a narrow alley, seemingly destroying any connections with Dyer. Unfortunately, the Ninja soon realized this turn was really meant to evade them, as the narrow streets forced the Land Bounty to a screeching halt. Jay ejected himself from the Bounty and landed atop Kai's ATV, startling the red ninja.

Having lost one of his pursuers, the Mechanic turned around again back in the direction of Dyer's Island. As Kai, Jay, and Cole continued the pursuit, the Mechanic deployed a series a large rolling balls from the back of his truck, knocking out both of his pursuers as they swerved to avoid colliding with the large balls. To make matters worse, it turned out the balls themselves weren't real and were only just projections! While the three groaned over the Mechanic's massive advantage in distance over them, Lloyd radioed his allies and ordered them to assist Nya with recovering the Land Bounty before heading back to the monastery. When the three protested that the Mechanic was still at large, Lloyd downplayed the issue, informing them that Borg himself found the theft of a single cybernetic eyeball to be not worth the effort of pursuing. Before leaving, Jay noted the oddities surrounding the Mechanic's use of tactics similar to those found in Dyer's games, wondering if there could still be a connection between the two.

Meanwhile, the Mechanic returned to his hideout and replaced his cybernetic eye. As he looked around, he grumbled to himself in dissatisfaction again, moaning that although he could now see clearly, everything was in black and white! At that moment, his computer lit up again and a mechanical voice asked if everything was ready. When the Mechanic affirmed, the voice replied, "Good. Now its time for your mission to Dyer Island."

Trivia[]

  • The comic features the Land Bounty, although it was left in the Never-Realm. While it is possible that another version of it was made, it is unlikely that this version would appear in only one magazine comic.
