In the Wyldness, Garmadon's eyes glow blue before he attacks rocks that surround him with the power of Shatterspin, breaking them into pieces. Zuri watches him atop a tree and is stunned. She tries to copy his movements, but she falls out of the tree while doing so. Garmadon catches Zuri by her leg and asks her why she was watching him. Zuri tells Garmadon he stole the Wolf Clan's fighting techniques, but before he can defend himself, a pebble is thrown at him. The other four Children of the Wolf face him, with Warby telling Garmadon to let go of Zuri. Garmadon bickers with the children. Zuri reminds him that he has not taught them anything, and Warby points out how Garmadon cut Asa's hair. Garmadon yells at them and storms off, telling them to leave him alone.

Garmadon sits near a pond when he realizes Mama Mawa and Buck Buck are behind him. Mama Mawa tells Garmadon he has not mastered Shatterspin. In response, Garmadon punches a rock, believing it is proof he has. Mama Mawa says he needs to be able to teach something to master it. They explain that Garmadon has to remove the Lycan King's Spectral Crown by destroying the runes on its body. Garmadon realizes the only thing that can destroy the Lycan King's runes is Shatterspin. Mama Mawa tells him he was destined to be here, but he shows uncertainty. Mama Mawa says they knew he had a divided heart the moment they saw him and asks him what is holding him back. Garmadon thinks for a second and answers, saying the children do not trust him and he is not a teacher like his father. Mama Mawa tells him he has not given the children a reason to trust him and asks if he can recall their names. Garmadon attempts to name the children but is unable to. Mama Mawa advises Garmadon to choose his path.

At night, the children sing a song around a fire. While Asa plays the tambourine, Garmadon bumps into him. Garmadon asks him if the latter has scissors and cuts Asa's hair for him. Balun asks Iriel why Garmadon was doing so. When Garmadon is finished, Zuri and Warby compliment his new haircut. Garmadon tells them to sleep so they can begin their training tomorrow.

Elsewhere, the Lycan King sniffs the area around him and sees Zaiden Kane standing on a pillar. Zaiden Kane remarks on how long it has been. The Lycan King attacks Kane, but they jump away. They say the two will be reunited soon and flies away.

The next day, Warby, Iriel, and Balun discuss training and fighting while Zuri asks Garmadon what they are going to learn. Garmadon instructs them to address him as Lord Garmadon and teaches them about respect. Garmadon bows to the children and vice versa. Garmadon's eyes turn white, and he tells them to bow again to their ancestors. Asa naps while the rest of the children hold buckets full of water in both their hands. Garmadon explains the need for a strong base when Warby asks why Asa gets to sleep. Garmadon states that Asa is too young to train. Balun asks how long they will hold the buckets up. Garmadon answers, saying the four will do so until Asa wakes up. In a state of shock, Iriel drops her buckets, and Garmadon tells them that when one of them fails, they all fail. He orders them to do one thousand pushups, and they comply.

Garmadon explains that the next task will be to run to the top of a mountain and why, while the children stare at the bird on a stick Asa is cooking. Garmadon says that whoever gets the flag at the top of the mountain gets to eat the bird, and the four children start to race up the mountain. Warby manages to grab the flag, but he trips over a pebble and falls onto Balun, Iriel, and Zuri. They all tumble off the mountain, and Garmadon tells them to do one thousand pushups while he and Asa eat the bird. They do as he says. In the forest, Garmadon tells the children that they are ready to learn their first Shatterspin attack. He demonstrates how to perform Shatterspin by punching a rock while using its power. Balun, Iriel, and Warby try to do the same but fail. When it is Zuri's turn, she performs Shatterspin on the rock. Balun, Iriel, and Warby congratulate her.

At night, the kids sing and dance around a fire again while Mama Mawa tells Garmadon they were wrong about him. They ask if he had good teachers to guide him. He mentions how he had a good father and brother who accepted him for who he was and how he wants to imitate that when he teaches the children. He explains how he thought if he could teach one of the kids, they would all learn and speaks highly of Zuri's leadership and potential. Iriel asks Garmadon to dance with them, but he refuses, saying they would not want to see that. Warby and Zuri call Iriel out for not calling him Lord Garmadon and jokingly say she has to do one thousand pushups. Suddenly, Garmadon walks into the forest, and his eyes glow blue. He tells the ghosts of the Wolf Warriors that he has done all he can for the children and the warriors and that he hopes it will be enough. Elsewhere, Asa looks at a rock and uses Shatterspin on it with ease. He walks away as the destroyed rocks behind him emit fumes.
