The Wyldness[]
Iriel, along with Balun, Warby and Zuri, looked at the bones of an animal and discussed their next meal. Iriel commented on the declining number of animals and how, eventually, nothing would be able to live in the forest. Asa found Iriel, along with the other children, and they all watched him perform a series of actions that explained what happened to his hair.
Later, Iriel, along with the other children, stood outside the Shadow Dojo and wondered how its doors opened. As they stood, they witnessed Garmadon fly through the walls of the dojo and further into the forest. After they realized Garmadon rang the Gong of Shattering and the Lycan King would have heard it, they tried to find Garmadon. A few moments afterward, the children found Garmadon lying on the ground, unconscious. Then, the children saw the Lycan King staring down at them.
The Lycan King[]
Iriel, along with the other children, tried to run away from the Lycan King. Iriel soon noticed that the Lycan King was unable to get through the gorge. The children and Garmadon later emerged from the rubble caused by the Lycan King's attack and realized they were trapped. She watched as Garmadon failed to get them out of the rubble. Then, the Lycan King got ready to howl, and Iriel tried to protect Asa from the wind. All the children stood in confusion and awe when Garmadon managed to perform Shatterspin. The Lycan King howled and the children and Garmadon dodged the attack. Iriel noticed a deer got turned to stone and Warby added that they could have eaten it. They all got on the children's boat and sailed away.
On the boat, Iriel explained to Garmadon that the Lycan King was a beast that haunted the woods. She, along with Balun and Warby, introduced themselves. Iriel told Garmadon about Zuri and helped Asa introduce himself. Zuri reminded Iriel that Garmadon was their prisoner and should not be so friendly to him.
When they arrived at Mama Mawa's house, Garmadon asked Iriel if it was their home to which she responded, saying the boat was their home. They all went inside Mama Mawa's house. Inside, Mama Mawa gave her and the others soup to drink. Iriel and Balun explained to Garmadon that the Wyldness used to be beautiful after the latter called it a dying land. Iriel listened as Mama Mawa explained how the Forbidden Five once ruled the Wyldness and led the Wolf Clan. Afterward, Garmadon asked what would happen if someone without an Elemental Power rang the gong and Iriel and Balun explained that one would lose everything. She listened as Mama Mawa explained Lord Argus's story. Mama Mawa said that the five children, including Iriel, were the last children of the wolf. She explained that only the children could defeat the Lycan King. She told Garmadon he would be their teacher.
Masters and Students[]
After hearing Zuri and Garmadon engaging in a heated argument, Iriel and the rest of the Children of the Wolf rushed over to their friend's aid. As they confronted Garmadon, Iriel gasped and asked her newly appointed master why he pushed Zuri out of a tree, noting that such an action could've been dangerous. This insinuation shocked Garmadon who protested in reply that Zuri herself had fallen from the tree and he didn't push her. Iriel and the others would then watch in silence as Garmadon angrily stormed off, declaring he would get around to teaching them when he had something to teach.
Later that night, Iriel and the others sang and danced around a campfire, during which she paused to watch with a perplexed expression as Garmadon began to give Asa a haircut. When Balun asked her what she made of the situation, Iriel shrugged and suggested that perhaps Garmadon was merely trying to be nice. The next morning, as the Children of the Wolf's first training session began, Iriel expressed her reluctance to train. doubting she would be any useful in a fight. Nevertheless, the children were then tasked with their first exercise: each of them were to carry a heavy bucket of water in each hand with outstretched arms. As each child began to tire and strain themselves in performance of the action, Balun asked their master as to how long they had to hold the buckets, to which Garmadon replied by stating "until Asa wakes up." This statement shocked and horrified Iriel, who immediately dropped her buckets as she bolted her head towards her master. With a smirk, Garmadon stated that Iriel's failure to complete the test reflected on all of the children, and all of them were to be punished and were ordered to perform one thousand push-ups.
For their second test, the Children of the Wolf were instructed by Garmadon that explosive speed was essential towards unlocking Shatterspin. To Garmadon's irritation, Iriel and the others were more interested in the bird that Asa was roasting than Garmadon's teachings. Nevertheless, Master Garmadon saw a potential teaching moment and informed the Children that whoever could race to the top of a nearby mountain and return first with the flag he had planted before Asa finished cooking would get to enjoy the bird. Before Garmadon could even finish his sentence however, Iriel and the others were already dashing off towards the mountain. Warby would be the first one to reach the top, grabbing the flag and hastily beginning his descent. In his haste however, Warby tripped and collided into Iriel and the rest of the children, sending all of them tumbling down the mountain until they finally came to a rest by Garmadon's feet. To add further insult to injury, Warby's haste and subsequent fall had greatly slowed their descent, and instead of being rewarded, Iriel and the others were punished with another one thousand push-ups.
Eventually, Garmadon deemed the Children of the Wolf to have made 'acceptable' progress with their training - enough for them to be taught the first basic attack of Shatterspin. After demonstrating it to them, Garmadon instructed each child, one after another, to repeat his actions. When it was Iriel's turn, she repeated her master's teachings as demonstrated and punched the boulder as hard as she could. Unfortunately, Iriel's form was too soft and instead of obliterating the boulder, Iriel hurt herself, crying out in pain as she clutched her hand. Fortunately, Zuri was able to successfully perform a Shatterspin strike and an impressed Iriel congratulated her friend, expressing that she knew Zuri always had the ability to perform Shatterspin. As all celebrated this early success later that night, Iriel approached her master and asked for him to join her and the others in their dance. Unfortunately, Warby and Zuri were quick to point out that Iriel had failed to address Garmadon by his title of "lord" and taunted her by repeating Garmadon's orders of "one-thousand pushups," much to Iriel's horrified dismay.
Destinies[]
For their final test, the Children of the Wolf were tasked to stalk Garmadon through a swamp and to retrieve the cloth he had tied onto the Mallet of Shattering. As Garmadon waded through the waters and evaded Warby's attack, remarking that he could smell the boy from a mile away, Iriel revealed herself and leapt towards her master while declaring she believed in good hygiene. Unfortunately, Garmadon effortlessly evaded her attack as well for she gave away her location by speaking - a pitfall that was not lost on Garmadon. Iriel then fought alongside Warby in an effort to snatch the scarf, but still to no avail. At the very least, Garmadon smirked and complimented them on their progressing fighting capabilities, noting how they were using the terrain to their advantage.
Once all four children revealed themselves, Zuri ordered them to pull off Plan B; the four then each shattered a nearby tree, snapping their trunks to fall inwards onto Garmadon! While he was distracted with knocking back the falling tree trunks, Iriel and the others simultaneously lunged at their master, though he was able to knock them all back with the Mallet of Shattering. Fortunately, Iriel managed to take the scarf from the mallet's handle in the chaos, prompting Garmadon to concede their victory. Upon hearing this affirmation from their master, Iriel was lifted into the air by her friends in victory.
As the sun disappeared across the horizon, Warby, Iriel, and Balun prepared the boat that they would be using to search for their enemy. As they worked, the children discussed the future that awaited them once the Lycan King was defeated. For her part, Iriel hoped that the endless twilight that was set upon the Wyldness would come to an end and that life could return and blossom in the dying realm. When Balun expressed a more cautious outlook, warning that he felt a strange presence had been pulling their strings. Iriel suggested for him to lighten up and noted that even their master had smiled that day. She and Warby then briefly made fun of Garmadon but quickly stopped when their master returned and overheard Balun's attempts at imitating him. At that moment, an exhausted Buck Buck emerged from the forest and collapsed before the group. In panic, Iriel rushed to tend to the bird, cradling him in her arms as she asked him why he and Asa had been foraging around the Shadow Dojo by themselves.
Homecoming[]
Together alongside Garmadon, Mama Mawa, and her friends, Iriel journeyed to the flooded and ruined city of Lupindor in search of Asa. As they sailed into the ruined capital, Iriel noted that the Lycan King must have taken Asa here, as this was where the lycanthrope made his lair. After finally arriving outside of the Hall of Wolves, Garmadon ordered Iriel and the others not to engage in battle with the Lycan King. As soon as he was out of earshot however, Zuri told Iriel and the others to split up and take positions across various vantage points in the ruined hall just in case an opportunity to strike at the Lycan King's Runes of Binding presented itself. While Warby supported this course of action, Iriel and Balun seemed less enthusiastic but followed it nonetheless. Iriel then climbed atop a pillar and hid there, watching as Garmadon began to fight against the Lycan King.
As her master fought, Iriel was ordered by Zuri to attack the Lycan King. In spite of her protests, the two boys heeded Zuri's call, forcing Iriel to do the same, though she briefly stumbled due to Zuri's lack of a countdown. Leaping from her vantage point, Iriel unleashed a Shatterspin attack upon the Runes of Binding in conjunction with the other Children of the Wolf, slamming feet first against the Lycan King's left leg. Unfortunately, the children's timing was off, possibly due to Iriel's stumbling, and they had failed to destroy the runes. At that moment, the Lycan King unleashed a petrifying howl at Asa and Mama Mawa, alarming Iriel and the others who immediately sprang into action, using their bodies as shields to prevent their youngest friend from being turned to stone while being transformed into stone statues themselves. Fortunately however, Iriel and all the others who had been petrified were all restored to normal after Asa sacrificed himself to destroy the Spectral Crown.
Making their way to the Shadow Dojo, Iriel, her friends, and the now restored Wolf Mask Warriors, gathered inside the chamber that held the Gong of Shattering where Garmadon stood alone, embracing her master in a tight hug. Unfortunately, Iriel would learn seconds later about Asa's passing, with the news breaking her as she fell to her knees and cried, wiping away her tears as Balun comforted her.
Eventually, the day came to bid farewell to Garmadon. Gathering at the pool by the Stone Wolves, Iriel hugged her master and expressed with sadness how she and the others would miss him greatly once he was gone. Garmadon in turn expressed his pride in his students and how much he would miss the qualities that made them all unique, noting Iriel for her sweet nature in particular. Iriel and the others would then say their final goodbyes to Garmadon as he dove into the pool and returned back to Ninjago.
