The fourth chapter of Shatterspin, titled Chapter 4: Destinies, was released as part of the Shatterspin Collected Edition.

Plot

Plot[]

In the Wyldness, Asa hides in a bush with Buck Buck as he stalks a rabbit. Asa shushes Buck Buck as the rabbit sniffs a carrot on the ground. Asa attacks the rabbit, but it hops away, causing him to land on the ground face first. Asa chases after the bunny with Buck Buck following behind him. The rabbit runs into the Shadow Dojo. Asa stops in front of the dojo for a moment before slowly walking into it with Buck Buck. He walks up the stairs, and eyes glow behind him. He stands and stares at the Gong of Shattering.

In a shallow river, Garmadon walks around cautiously with the Mallet of Shattering on his back. Warby hides in some tree roots and tries to grab the scarf tied to the mallet, but Garmadon makes him fall to the floor. Iriel jumps over Garmadon to try and grab it but fails to do so. The two children work together but are unable to grab the scarf. Garmadon tells them to use the terrain to help them before Balun jumps out of the water and attempts to obtain the scarf. Garmadon dodges him with ease when Zuri falls from above and strikes the water in front of him. Garmadon remarks that he still has the scarf, and Zuri responds, saying that was their first plan. The four children proceed to break the trees surrounding Garmadon before pouncing on him. He smacks them away with the Mallet of Shattering and says they were close but not close enough. However, Garmadon realizes the scarf is gone, and Iriel holds it up, asking if they won. Garmadon laughs and tells them they are ready to face the Lycan King.

The four celebrate while Mama Mawa questions if they are ready. They remind Garmadon of the power of the Spectral Crown and the Runes of Binding. Garmadon says they have advantages over the Lycan King and assures them the children are ready. Mama Mawa says they should celebrate and explains that she sent Asa and Buck Buck out to find food.

At the Shadow Dojo, Asa continues staring at the gong while Buck Buck finds a Wolf Mask. Asa picks it up, and ghosts come out of the walls of the dojo. They creep toward Asa and ask him if he is the child with an Elemental Power that was foretold to save them. They tell him to ring the Gong of Shattering to free them. As they touch his head, his eyes turn white, and they threaten to possess him if he does not comply. He faints before the Lycan King finds him. Buck Buck runs away in fear, and the ghosts say they must turn to the help of Garmadon to claim Asa from Argus. Elsewhere, Garmadon washes his face in the river when the ghosts appear behind him. They tell him there is a traitor among them, but they disappear before he can ask any questions. Zuri stands behind him and shows concern, but Garmadon tells her it is nothing.

Meanwhile, Balun, Iriel, and Warby pack supplies in their boat. They talk about their future fight against the Lycan King and how beautiful the Wyldness will be if they defeat him. Balun says he feels something is off, as if they are being manipulated. Warby and Iriel tell him to not worry so much, and she remarks how even Garmadon smiled earlier. Warby and Iriel start making fun of Garmadon's usual demeanor. Warby tells Balun to join in, and he does so when Garmadon and Zuri arrive to hear his mockery. Garmadon tells him to do one thousand pushups in response. Warby and Iriel quickly cover up and tell Garmadon that they were getting the boat ready for the confrontation. Garmadon approves, saying the same thing Iriel said when mimicking him.

Zuri asks Garmadon if he will go back to Ninjago after they beat the Lycan King. Garmadon says he will have to go back to stop a war. She realizes he has to leave them, but in response, Garmadon asks her if they could come back with him to Ninjago. Zuri is stunned by this, and he asks why she is so shocked. She says they did not even know if he liked them. Garmadon tries to say he is proud of them but is interrupted by Buck Buck's arrival. The chicken comes out of the forest and falls face first onto the ground. The children crowd around Buck Buck and ask what happened to him. Zuri gets the chicken some water while it explains what occurred at the Shadow Dojo. It tells them that Asa has been taken by the Lycan King.

Elsewhere, The Lycan King runs with Asa in his claw when he encounters Mama Mawa. They ask where the Lycan King is going with Asa before it attacks them. They jump out of the way, and their hood falls down to reveal their long white hair. They remark that their numerous years of planning will soon come to an end. They announce that the return of Zaiden Kane will soon arrive.
