The Trial by Fire is a series of tests to show if one is worthy to wield the powerful Fire Chi of the Phoenix.

Trial by Fire[]
After arriving in the Phoenix Temple atop Mount Cavora, Laval, Cragger and Eris are greeted by Fluminox, the leader of the Phoenix, he tells them they have been expecting them, mainly Eris, and shows them through their temple when the find a pile of Chi that the Phoenix created called Fire Chi, since Eris was a sky born, she is able to touch the Fire Chi without burning herself and plugs an orb in. Seeing this, Cragger attempts to take some Fire Chi but is burned and Fluminox says it's not for the ground born since he is unworthy, but Tormak his loyal guard, suggests that Laval and Cragger partake in the Trial by Fire to show they are worthy of wielding the Fire Chi, after thinking on it, Fluminox accepts and begins the trial by dropping the two down to their first test.
Laval and Cragger's first task is to get to the other side of the fire pit, Laval is able to get across with ease but Cragger is struggling due to being afraid of the fire, but Laval backtracks to help his friend and they make it to the other side when they hear the cry of a young child calling for help, realizing this kid is in the fire, Laval and Cragger jump down to help this kid where they realize they aren't burning and the kid reveals himself as Flinx who is the son of Fluminox, he says they passed the first test and says that the calling for help was his idea saying his father had no sense of humor, Laval then asks if he can help them with the rest of the trial to which, Flinx then reveals the next and final part of the trial, they have to get to the other side of the lava river and light up the torch at the end and only they will they complete the trial, so the two get onto the floating rock and are given shields to paddle their way across, the Legend Beasts then show up, Laval thinks they are there to help but they each start shooting fire at them which they block with their shields, they eventually make it to the torch and with their shields they are able to light it and therefore have completed the Trial by Fire.
Having completed the Trial by Fire, Laval and Cragger are deemed worthy of using the Fire Chi, the rest of their respective tribes also have full access to the Fire Chi whenever.
