Wasting Sickness

Overview

“I know it's a disease older dragons can get.”
“And what makes you believe I suffer from this ailment?”
“The black edges of your lost scales. That only happens when the sickness is getting really bad.”

The Wasting Sickness is a terminal disease that impacts dragons as they mature.

History

History[]

The Wasting Sickness emerged as a fatal disease that afflicted aging dragons. A notable symptom of this sickness was the gradual black edges on shedding of the dragons' scales, and becoming irritable. Some of the dragons who raised Wyldfyre were affected by this illness.[1] Consequently, the Wasting Sickness became of Wyldfyre's greatest fear.[2]

Years later, Wyldfyre discovered that Egalt was also succumbing to the illness.[1] After Thunderfang was sent to the Spectral Lands, Egalt would succumb to the illness and passed away from it.[3]

Trivia[]

  • According to Chris "Doc" Wyatt, the Wasting Sickness is kind of like a "dragon cancer."[4]
  • According to Chris "Doc" Wyatt, Wasting Sickness isn't contagious, so dragons can't catch it from one another. Dragon hybrids like Lloyd cannot be infected with Wasting Sickness except when actively in Dragon Form.[5]
