Ras and Arin reach the World Forest and are immediately attacked and separated by the mystery bounty hunter. Arin is escorted to the Temple of the Dragon Cores by old allies, where Ras seeks an audience with its spirit. Ras can outrun the bounty hunter but not his past. Meanwhile, the Ninja track the remaining Prismatic Blade as Wyldfyre confronts her fear on a quest to cure Roby.[3]

Rox uses the Yellow Prismatic Blade to cut Thunderfang's third chain. With two chains remaining, Thunderfang impatiently asks for when he could expect them to be eliminated. Rox in return tells Thunderfang that the Forbidden Five continue their work in hunting the final Prismatic Blades and Thunderfang remarks that they better be.

Meanwhile, Zane and P.I.X.A.L. speak fondly with one another outside the portal gate of the First Land Monastery. Zane explains to P.I.X.A.L. his theory that of the Merge being responsible for creating a new monastery in each realm, yet he admitted there were still so many things he did not understand about this new world. P.I.X.A.L. stated in reply that she was excited about the prospect of further exploring the Merged Lands, especially to those that had once been challenging to explore previously and adds that she is surprised to hear that Zane had not yet done so. Zane confesses that while he could have, it would never be as enjoyable without her by his side. With a smile, Zane and P.I.X.A.L. held each others hands and shared a brief tender moment with one another before Lloyd cleared his throat and spoke up, reminding the pair that they had to return to the Monastery of Spinjitzu. Acknowledging the urgency, Zane called upon the First Land portal gate to take them to Ninjago.

Inside the Monastery of Spinjitzu, Kai and Nya wait by its portal gate when it sudden swings open, allowing for Lloyd's group to emerge. Lloyd calls out to his friends but notices that Wyldfyre is not present. Nya begins to explain that she was staying at the City of Temples to be with Roby, but cut herself short when she spotted P.I.X.A.L. and rushed over to hug her old friend while Kai marveled at Zane's new big form. Once greetings were out of the way, Lloyd compared notes on the Forbidden Five and their goal with Nya, the latter affirming that the Five had now obtained three of the five Prismatic Blades. Kai then proposed destroying the blade in the ninja's possession, pointing out that the Five could not release Thunderfang without all of them being intact. However, after both Lloyd and Kai failed to destroy the blade, the ninja decided instead to use it to track down the fifth and final one.

Back in the City of Temples, Wyldfyre joyously entered Roby's hospital room and cheerfully remarked that he was looking so much better! Roby gave her a small, weak smile, before closing his eyes again and Wyldfyre turned back towards the Medical Bots with a worried look and admitted to them that Roby was looking much much worse. The bots informed her that they were so far unsuccessful in finding a cure, prompting Wyldfyre to suggest that Janus Melon Stew could be the answer; after all, if it worked for dragons suffering from the Wasting Sickness, surely it could help with humans given their much smaller body masses, right? Before the bots could point out Wyldfyre's flawed logic, she demanded to know where she could find Janus Melons nearby, to which the bots directed her to the Jagged Tunnels but warned that any attempt to navigate through them would almost certainly prove fatal. Undeterred, Wyldfyre stated that she would willingly risk her life a million times for Roby's sake and set out to find a vehicle, preferably one with racing stripes; after all, Kai told her that they made vehicles go faster.

In the skies of the Merged Lands, Arin and Ras were finally nearing the World Forest. Ras asked Arin if he recalled the exact location of the Temple of the Dragon Cores, and Arin half-heartedly stated he did. Ras commented on his student's lack of focus and Arin reminded him that he had just learned his parents had died in the Merge and asked again for confirmation if Ras had the power to bring them back. Ras reaffirmed his belief that reversing the Merge would allow one to create anything in its wake, though Arin gently pushed back by noting how he thought he saw his parents in one of the rifts created during the MergeQuake Storm. Before the conversation could go any further however, the bounty hunter, Rogue, whooshed past the two in a mechanized suit of armor.

On alert from the stranger's close presence, Ras immediately branded him an "unknown enemy." Arin at first argued again with Ras' terminology, pointing out that the unknown were always a potential friend. As Rogue passed by a second time, however, he deployed a bomb against the Super Storm Jet, followed by several more. Vindicated, Ras pointed out to Arin that their "potential friend" was now bombing them, forcing Arin to admit that the bounty hunter was not a friend at all. As the two engaged in their dogfight with Rogue across the clouds, Arin asked again if Ras was sure he didn't know the bounty hunter. Ras confirmed he did not and Arin asked if it ever bothered him that random people were constantly trying to kill him - a question Ras brushed off by stating that strength invited challengers.

Following another explosion, Ras deployed the jet's Dragon-headed drone against Rogue, but the cunning bounty hunter set his suit to auto-pilot while he landed onto the jet's wings himself. After an attempt to shake off the hunter failed, Ras ordered Arin to deal with him. Arin obliged but Rogue had no interest in fighting him, instead going straight for Ras. Unable to fight in such close quarters while simultaneously piloting, Ras ejected his seat and began to parachute down into the World Forest, leaving Arin behind on the now pilotless jet that was quickly losing altitude. Fortunately, the jet was intercepted by a pair of Mountain Dragons who flew it and Arin back to their nest where he was met by Eridany and her regent, Leaf Blade. Elsewhere, Ras defeated Rogue with a single swing of his hammer but soon found himself ensnared against the trees by his parachute.

Back at the Mountain Dragons' nest, Leaf Blade spoke telepathically to Arin on behalf of Eridany, hailing him as a hero and pledging his aid to Arin should he request it. Arin then admitted he had been separated from his teacher, momentarily shocking Leaf Blade who assumed Arin was speaking of Lloyd. Arin clarified that he had a different teacher now and agreed to let Leaf Blade accompany him after the latter clarified that it would be Eridany's request for him to do so. The two then set out in search of Arin's new teacher, with the boy spotting him first. Aware that the Mountain Dragons would be wary, if not entirely suspicious, of Ras, Arin discreetly used the Returning Blade to cut his teacher free and before Leaf Blade could get a closer look at him. Ras at first quietly berated Arin for bringing a dragon with him, whispering in hushed tones if Arin remembered that Ras once hunted them for the Claws of Imperium. Arin answered back that he was well aware of Ras' past but tried to explain he had no choice. The pair then spotted Rogue's fallen armor and asked Leaf Blade to bring them closer to it, with Arin then scavenging the bounty hunter's glider pack for his personal use. On Ras' behalf, Arin tried to thank Leaf Blade and for them to part ways, but the dragon insisted on helping them reach the Temple of the Dragon Cores.

Meanwhile in the Monastery of Spinjitzu, P.I.X.A.L. and Zane were gracefully building a tracker to locate the final prismatic blade. Frak marveled at their teamwork while Sora used her powers to construct a new car and a new jet for the ninja to fight against the Dragonian Trackers on more equal footing. Zane and P.I.X.A.L. then completed their device and affixed it to the guard of the Blue Prismatic Blade. Zane then proposed that once the threat of the Forbidden Five had been neutralized, perhaps he and P.I.X.A.L. could explore the Merged Lands together - a proposition she readily accepted. The tracker then began to beep, indicating it had located the final blade, and the ninja set off to retrieve it.

Back in the World Forest, Leaf Blade brought his guests to the Temple of the Dragon Cores, though they had passed by another pair of Mountain Dragons along the way. Ras remained wary, especially since the latter dragons both glanced back behind them, almost as if they recognized him. Arin urged his teacher not to be so paranoid and the two entered the temple while Leaf Blade waited outside in spite of Arin's insistence he didn't have to.

Elsewhere, Wyldfyre had outfitted herself with a new mech and a flying vehicle to traverse the jagged tunnels with. Using her new toys, Wyldfyre swooped past acid geysers, falling rocks, and a cave full of tentacled creatures to finally reach a chamber where the janus melons grew. Taking these melons, Wyldfyre cooked up a batch of janus melon stew and fed it to Roby, only to discover to her frustration that it didn't work. The medical bots then informed Wyldfyre that for many illnesses, there was simply no cure at all, leaving her devastated and sobbing by his bedside.

Inside the Temple of the Dragon Cores, Ras and Arin entered the chamber containing the statue of the First Spinjitzu Master. Ras asked Arin if Lloyd told him who was depicted by the statue, and Arin responded that it was the First Spinjitzu Master, adding that he was also Lloyd's grandfather and the creator of Ninjago and several other realms. Ras affirmed all of these statements as truth, but remarked that the First Spinjitzu Master was no longer with them. With a powerful leap, Ras swung his hammer and beheaded the statue, calling forth the attention of the Spirit of the Temple. Ras then demanded the Spirit to tell him if there was a way to create Source Dragon Icons without Elemental Powers. When the Spirit confirmed there was a way, but denied to divulge such information, Ras held up his hammer and asked the Spirit if he recognized it. The Spirit affirmed it was a Source Dragon Icon and Ras immediately struck the Spirit with it, causing great harm as the Spirit wailed in agony.

Arin tried to stop Ras from hurting the Spirit, but Ras shook him off, turning his attention back to the Spirit and demanding again the answers he sought. Straining, the Spirit informed Ras to seek the Casket of Bones and the Forge of the Forgotten, both hidden away in the depths of the Underworld. Satisfied with this answer, Ras released the Spirit and allowed him to go. The Spirit did so, but not before cursing both Arin and Ras, branding them both as "villains," a term that shock Arin to his core. When Arin tried to protest with the Spirit, Ras stopped him and lambasted him, asking why Arin cared what terms people described him with. Arin explained that villains hurt people and he didn't want to hurt anyone, but Ras asked him again if Arin was willing to do whatever it took to bring back his parents. After some hesitation, Arin sighed and replied that he was.

The two then left the temple where they found Leaf Blade alongside four other Mountain Dragons. Leaf Blade singled out Ras and warned him that his crimes against dragon-kind had not been forgotten, before spotting Arin. Still believing that Arin was innocent, Leaf Blade tried to warn him that Ras was masquerading as Arin's teacher, only to discover to his dismay that Arin knew this entire time. As Ras produced his hammer and prepared to fight against Leaf Blade and the other dragons, Arin tried to calm both sides down, acknowledging the dragons' right to seek justice against Ras but pleading nevertheless for them to allow Ras to go. He explained to them that his parents were lost in the Merge and Ras was his only hope of ever seeing them again. Unfortunately, Arin's terms were rejected by the dragons and Arin activated the glider pack he had recovered earlier to flee with Ras.

As the pair navigated through the maze of the World Forest, Ras urged Arin to let him fight against the dragons but Arin refused. He explained that violence was not always the answer, and from growing up on the streets of the Crossroads, he had learned the value of being small. Using their size to their advantage, Arin weaved in and out across the dense canopies, slowly evading the pursuing dragons one by one. After finally losing Leaf Blade, the two were in the clear, though Ras dismissed Arin's strategy as "ridiculous." The soon landed on a nearby branch where Ras once again explained his philosophy to Arin and expressed his frustration over the latter's need to be liked by everyone. With a sigh, Arin remarked that he was unlikely to see any of the ninja anytime soon, just as the ninja landed behind him in their new vehicles, having tracked down the final prismatic blade to the World Forest. Turning, Arin and Sora met each other in the eyes and called out the other's name in surprise.

  • This episode marks the first time the term "grandpa" has been used, as Arin used it to describe Lloyd's relation to the First Spinjitzu Master.
  • Arin fighting Jay on the Super Storm Jet is shot very similarly to when Garmadon fought Clouse on the Roto Jet in "The Day of the Dragon".
