Frak, Sora. Wyldfyre, and Riyu continue their journey through the mysterious Land of Eternal Dawn. Having just encountered cats and bushes that sprouted pies, Sora and Frak were falling in love with this strange new world while Wyldfyre continued trying to assert to her teammates that something was very wrong here.

Walking through the vast plains, Sora pointed out a fluttering group of butterflies and expressed her love for this realm once more. Focusing on the butterflies, Sora failed to spot a nearby rock and tripped, stubbing her toe in the process. Frak rushed to her aid and remarked that back home, he used to use Glimwillow Lilies to help ease off the pain; speaking of Glimwillow lilies, there was a bush of them right behind him! While Frak was pleasantly surprised, Wyldfyre took the opportunity to point out that although she knew nothing of medicine, she did know that these lilies only grew in Glimwillow Woods and tried fruitlessly again to use this as evidence that something was wrong here. With her words falling on deaf ears once more, Wyldfyre grumbled that she had enough frustration by now to "tear apart a lava monster." As if on cue, Frak pointed to a hulking beast that had manifested right behind Wyldfyre, causing the girl to grin with anticipation.

Eager to fight, Wyldfyre charged up her fists with her power of Heat, only for it to spark and knock her to the ground with a small burst. Wyldfyre grumbled that she forgot that elemental powers were on the fritz and teamed up with Frak and Riyu to attack the monster with Spinjitzu. Although Frak and Riyu were forced to back away after making contact with the monster's fiery body, Wyldfyre seemed unaffected and began viciously attacking it with fists and kicks. Sora then called for Wyldfyre to drive the monster back to a nearby waterfall - one which Wyldfyre remarked wasn't there a moment ago. Nevertheless, the Master of Heat did as she was told, dousing the Lava Monster beneath the rushing waters as it collapsed to the ground in defeat. After a moment of mocking her defeated foe, Wyldfyre regrouped with her allies as Frak nervously asked her what had been the toughest opponent she had faced so far.

Responding to Frak's question, Wyldfyre spoke of the Photacs that were once utilized by the Claws of Imperium - indestructible constructs made of hard light. Wyldfyre wished she had one to show to Frak, and almost immediately, a Photac leaped out from the bushes, snarling at the young ninja. Surprised by its sudden appearance, Wyldfyre immediately sprung into battle with the construct and began wrestling with it while a stunned Frak asked Sora if they should help. Sora shrugged her shoulders in reply and declined, explaining that as the original designer of the Photacs, she had built them with the need for a strong energy source, and since this one was in the wildness, its battery should be running out anytime now. No sooner had Sora finished her sentence, the Photac grappling with Wyldfyre disappeared, leaving behind only an inert device. After groaning that she almost defeated it, Wyldfyre questioned why a Photac was even here in the first place; after all, shouldn't technology like this require an operator to be usable? Sora stepped towards her friends and stated she may have discovered the truth behind this strange land.

With all eyes turned to Sora, she began by pointing out that so far, the three have encountered things that shouldn't be here or materialized out of the blue. She surmised then that perhaps The Merge was responsible for this phenomenon; perhaps this land was unstable somehow or something; Sora then admitted that she actually didn't have an answer for the bizarreness of this place. Shifting the conversation, Frak urged them all to start looking for a way out. As they continued to walk across the plains, Sora spoke about some of the prototype mechs she used to build when she was younger, particularly ones made out of stone and wood. As she expressed a desire to one day construct a functioning mech out of those same materials, none were aware that the stones and trees behind them were merging together and taking form. Wyldfyre was the first to sense something behind them. Turning her head, Wyldfyre looked onward in awe at a large mech towering before them, constructed out of nothing but stone and wood just as Sora had described. Sora on the other hand seemed in shock, gasping that she hadn't done anything to build it just as the large mech attacked the group.

Following Wyldfyre's lead, the young ninja fought back against the nature mech, though Sora cautiously held back behind the others. Sora shouted to her allies that usually when she designed mechs, their main control units were located on the back, just below the shoulders. Perhaps this nature mech had such a weak point too? Unfortunately, Frak and Wyldfyre were quickly subdued by the golem, leaving only Sora and Riyu to challenge it. When Sora expressed to Riyu that she was not even half as good at fighting as the other two were, Riyu took the initiative to perform a Spinjitzu tornado himself, slamming the golem in the chest with enough force to pulverize it into gravel and splinters! Wyldfyre then urged the others to remain vigilant and not to celebrate just yet; after-all, they still had no explanation for the strangeness of this land beyond Sora's theories about this "Ultimate Realm." Frak then changed the topic, remarking that they had been through a lot today and perhaps they should find someplace to rest and sleep. Hearing no response, Frak turned around to see that his friends had already fallen fast asleep. Astounded, Frak muttered aloud that he "wished he could fall asleep just as fas..." before he could even finish the sentence, Frak's eyes closed and he fell to the ground in a deep slumber...

Trivia

Trivia[]

  • The comic is set during "The Lean of a Tree," between the scenes of Riyu smelling something and the ninja finding the pit.
  • In Germany, "Epic Upgrade!" takes the spot of issue 140 instead.
  • This comic shows that Frak can do Spinjitzu. However, this could just be an effect of the Land of Eternal Dawn.
  • The illusory Photac that Wyldfyre briefly fought against more closely resembles a panther than a wolf.
  • Glimwillow Lilies are mentioned, making it the third reference to Ninjago: Garmadon in the franchise, the first two being in "Rescue Mission" and Ninjago: Strike of the Serpentine.
  • In Germany, this issue was released as the first issue in a new line of "Lego Action" magazines.
