Reading Clouse's mind, Neuro discovered a spell and informed the rest of the ninja.

Spy for a Spy[]

Nya successfully stole the Spell of Transformation from the Book of Spells and was able to escape Chen's Palace.

Spellbound[]

Nya showed Lloyd and Garmadon the spell.

The Forgotten Element[]

After collecting all the necessary Elemental Powers, Clouse began to perform the spell, but was stopped by Kai and Skylor.

The Day of the Dragon[]

After capturing Skylor, Chope and Kapau read the spell and successfully tranformed into fake Anacondrai.

The Greatest Fear of All[]

Chope and Kapau showed Chen that the spell was not complete and they needed the essence of a true Anacondrai.

Trivia[]

• The spell is on page 149 with extended notes on page 150.
• The spell does not require all Elements Powers. The ones that are not required are Water, Wind, Time, the elemental essences, and all the elements that were introduced in Dragons Rising, including those created after the Merge.^[3] While Chen refers to having "Every Elemental Power," he is a liar and a criminal so his statements should not be taken as fact.^[4]
  • Tommy Andreasen implied that Chen didn't need Garmadon's power for the spell because Destruction is not an element.^[5] This in turn means that elemental essences are not needed, which in turn explains why Chen didn't specifically invite Garmadon and Wu nor why he didn't bother to obtain the Golden Armor.
  • It is possible that the spell needs only active/actively used Elemental Powers in Ninjago, because all of the other aforementioned elements were either inactive, unused or inaccessible:
    • Nya had the power of Water (which she inherited from Maya) dormant inside of her at the time of Tournament of Elements, awakening and learning to control it in the next season.
    • Morro and his power of Wind were trapped in the Cursed Realm, being freed at the end of the season.
    • Time was was absorbed and split into the four Time Blades, one hidden under the Boiling Sea for years and the other three being trapped in the Temporal vortex ("or lost in time").
    • Shockwave was wielded by Levo in Imperium.
    • Wu and Garmadon actively abstained from using Creation and Destruction, respectively.
    • Following the events of Rebooted, no living being wielded Golden Power, which only existed in the Golden Armor and the Golden Mech.
    • The Overlord and his Darkness, with it being an elemental essence, were rendered dormant at the time.
    • Brute Force, Decay, Swarm, Misfortune, Fear, used by the Forbidden Five, were trapped in the Nether-Space alongside the Five.
    • Other elements, like Heat, Quake, Size, Figment, Plants, Balance, Kismet, and Reflex likely had no known hosts in Ninjago, prior to the Merge.
• For some reason, the spell's effects wore off when Garmadon and Chen were banished in "The Corridor of Elders," explaining why the two appeared in their human forms again in "Curseworld, Part II."^[6]
  • Eyezor and Zugu reappeared in their Anacondrai forms in "Day of the Departed" even though Chen remained in his human form. However, this has nothing to do with the transformation spell and is presumably a result of their unseen Hall of Sidekicks statues depicting them in Anacondrai forms.
