(The ninja quickly drive towards a village in their vehicles.)
Jay: Okay, I'm just gonna come right out and say it. I have no idea were we are going and how we got here.
Cole: Thank you! I was gonna say something but I was afraid I might sound dumb. Anyone?
Lloyd: No.
Nya: I got nothing.
Kai: No Idea.
Zane: This does not compute.
Jay: So, anyone wanna head home and play some Prime Empire? Heh.
Lloyd: No. I'm sure we're here for a reason. This may be one of Master Wu's strange lessons. We need to stay vigilant and alert.
Jay: Speaking of alerts, what is that?!
(A black cloud looms in the sky as the light around them gets darker.)
Lloyd: Whatever it is, it must be the reason we're here. Warm up, ninja, and prepare for battle. Zane, give us a status report.
Zane: Affirmative. (Flies near the village.) The village appears to be under attack by shadow-like beings. They seem to be spreading some sort of corruption.
Lloyd: (Over communicator.) Oni?
Zane: Negative. These are small and some are airborne.
Lloyd: Well, guess, then we'll just have to improvise.
Jan: Ninja! It is I, Jan the exalted Emperor of Ninjago and patron of the village of Jan-Anaki, who have summoned you to defend my people.
Zane: (Lands his jet and jumps out, pulling out one of his Shurikens of Ice.) Huh?
Kai: Never fear. Kai is here!
Cole: (Jumps out his Dragon Cruiser) Huh? I didn't know Ninjago had a new emperor, and a kid?!
Jay: I do not think this is one of Master Wu's lessons.
Cole: Whatever it is, these guys need our help. What do you say we do this old school? (Strikes a Grimspawn with his Scythe of Quakes and it disappears.) Huh? What the-
Jay: What are those guys? They just... evaporated!
Kai: (Unsheathes his Sword of Fire and jumps out his Dragon Raider, striking another Grimspawn.) Ha!
Jan: Kai, Elemental Master. Defend my people with your power of Wind!
Kai: Well certainly, My Liege. Let me show... wait, wait. Wind? No no no, you've got it all wrong. Here, let me show ya. Fire! (Blows away a Grimspawn with Wind, surprising him) Huh? What the ninblooey?!
Jay: What's that, Kai? Have you lost your spark? Met your match?
Lloyd: Alright, Your Exaltedness, time for some answers. Who are you, and just what is-
(Suddenly, something roars.)
Nya: Look alive, boys. We have something big incoming. Looks like something nasty.
Jay: Luckily, we specialize in "Nasty"!
Lloyd: (He notices the Legendary Dragon roaring) It's alright. Go on. Get out of here. We've got this.
(The dragon understands and leaves. Soon, Grimkeepers appear.)
Lloyd: Maybe we don't. Go! Drive back those... things!
(The ninja use their Elemental Powers to drive the Grimkeepers back, but the Sword of Fire doesn't respond.)
Kai: Come on, Fire. Come on! (Makes a plan.) Lloyd! We need to get the villagers to safety.
(Lloyd and Kai starts doing so.)
Kai: Come on, this way. Go! Go! Go!
Jan: Yeah, that's it!
(One of the Grimkeepers is down. However, one tries to capture Jan, but Kai steps on his way.)
Kai: Fight nasty with Fire! (He tries to use Fire, but then he realizes that he can only do Wind.) Oh, right. (one captures Jan and Kai.) Need some help here! (Suddenly, time stops and then reverses.) Ereh pleh emos deen! (Need some help here!) (Time goes back to normal.) Huh?
Lloyd: (Becomes skeptical.) The Hands of Time.
(Cawing is heard as Zian soon grabs Kai and Jan, and the Grimkeeper looks up to Zian and Zoey, before they circle back to the others to drop Kai and Jan off, and Jan's crown falls off.)
Kai: (Faces Zoey as Jan puts his crown back on.) You have time powers, but you're not-
Zoey: That's right, honey. This is Zian. I am the Dream Bandit. (Nya descends near them.) And you ain't seen nothing yet.
Jay: (Confused.) What's a "Dream Bandit"?
Zoey: (Shoots some arrows.) Well, this Dream Bandit is one who doesn't have time for lame questions.
Nya: Well then, I've got a question which isn't lame. What are these things, and what the heck is going on here?
Zoey: You know those things that come visit you at night in your sleep? That's what these things are. Nightmares, baby, and there are plenty to go around.
Jay: That does not make any sense!
Zoey: Haven't you guys got anything cool up your sleeves? Like that spinning thing you do?
Jan: Yeah! Spinjitzu! Do some Spinjitzu!
Ninja: Ninja, go! (They do Spinjitzu, except for Kai, who still has Wind powers. Lloyd then attacks a Grimkeeper with his sword. Zane does the same. Then, Jay and Cole knock him out.)
Jan: Yeah, that's it! Go, ninja, go!
(The ninja dramatically pose, except for Kai.)
Cole: You know, it feels like we don't say that as often as we used to anymore. I miss that. We really should say it more oft-
(Suddenly, something howls. It is revealed that there are four Grimwolves and four Night Terrors.)
Zoey: Uh, this is bad! Important safety tip: Don't get bitten and don't get grabbed by those flying creeps. I'll call in the cavalry. (She pulls out a Dreamy Screamy.) Dream Chasers, we have Night Terrors. Repeat: We have Night Terrors. What's keeping you guys?
Logan: (through the Dreamy Screamy) Cooper had trouble falling asleep because he's nervous about the test tomorrow.
Cooper: (through the Dreamy Screamy) Not true. We'll be there in right about...mmm...now.
(Suddenly, the Dream Car arrives with Cooper, Logan, Izzie, and Mateo. Logan and Izzie land perfectly while Mateo falls over with Z-Blob rolling off him.)
Logan: Man, you need to really work on your arrivals.
(Mateo stands up and Z-Blob jumps to his right hand.)
Zane: This is the cavalry?
Izzie: You better believe it, Titanium Ninja.
(Mateo uses his hourglass to have Z-Blob don his robot suit. The Grimwolves roar at him.)
Cole: Elemental Masters of... Sand?
(Izzie uses hers to make Bunchu come alive, jumps onto Bunchu and makes a sword, while Mateo jumps onto Z-Blob and uses his hourglass to Dream Craft his pencil spear.)
Jay: Okay, not what I was expecting.
Zane: A large blue rabbit and a gooey robot? This is highly irregular. (He starts beeping.) I feel my processors overheating.
Mateo: Let 'em have it, Z-Blob.
(Z-Blob fights the Grimwolves and Grimkeepers.)
Izzie: Bunchu, let's baste those turkeys!
Logan: Time to drop the beast!
(Logan then jumps to the car's blaster and hits some nightmare creatures. Izzie, Zoey, and Mateo help the ninja fight the nightmare creatures.)
Lloyd: I guess, ninja never quit?
(They all Spinjitzu and fight the Grimkeepers.)
Jay: Am I the only one who's confused? (He then uses Lightning on a Grimkeeper.)
(Nya hits a Grimkeeper.)
Kai: Come on! Come on!
(The team still fight. Meanwhile, Jan talks to his friends.)
Jan: See? I told you a Ninjago marathon was a good idea!
Jay: "Ninjago marathon"?
Zoey: Mateo, something's off! The Night Terrors aren't attacking the dreamers!
Mateo: You're right. It's like they don't want them to wake up and cross over.
Jay: "Wake up?" "Cross over?"
Izzie: The Nightmare King must be up to something sneaky.
Jay: "Nightmare King?!" (Lightning crashes) What is going on?!
(The Nightmare Galleon comes out, piloted by the Night Hunter and the Grimspawn.)
Zoey: Night Hunter.
Night Hunter: This is the one! The Nightmare King requested an audience with the Emperor of this reaim.
Sneak: One serving of Emperor, coming right up!
(Sneak goes to the claw-gun and fires the claw to Jan. Max jumps to the claw in an attempt to rescue him. Zoey then tries to get to the ship, but a Night Terror hit Zian, crash-landing them. Zoey lands perfectly. The Nightmare Galleon then makes a U-turn and leaves.)
(A Grimspawn touches Nya's Samurai X Mech, corrupting it.)
Nya: What's happening?! I can't move! (opens the cockpit) I've gotta bail. (She bails out of the mech, landing perfectly. A Grimkeeper then hits the mech.)
Lloyd: Look out! (they escape the mech crashing. The Grimkeeper then takes another girl and capture her.)
Kai: Oh, no. They're getting away! (Zian then descends to them. Mateo turns Z-Blob back to normal. Cooper stops his car and his helmet digitally disappears.)
Cooper: Well, that was a bust.
Izzie: (She sees Nya and gasps.) Oh my gosh! I can't believe it's really you! I'm such a big fan! I must've watched every episode, like, ten times!
Nya: Why are you talking to us like we're characters in a TV show?
Mateo: I don't think they know, Izzie.
Cole: Know what?
Logan: (walks to the ninja) Dudes, I hate to break this to you, but... you're in a dream.
Jay: (shocked gasps.) What?! (His startled "What?!" echoes across the valley.) I demand an explanation right now!
Mateo: Look, we don't have time for this! We gotta save Jan and the others. (He turns Z-Blob into a drone ship.)
Zane: I do believe a response to Jay's inquiry--ineloquent as it was--would be appropriate.
Kid: Well... (The ninja turn their faces to a kid peeking from the edge of a house.)
(A flashback of Jan and his friends watching a scene of "The Fifth Villain" in daytime is shown.)
Past Jan: Take that! Face the fury of Kai, the Master of Wind! This Ninjago marathon is the best idea ever!
Past Max: Sit down, Jan! And pay attention! Kai is not the Master of Wind.
Past Jan: Ha! If I was the Emperor of Ninjago, he would be! Besides, wind is a much more efficient source of power than fire. Sustainable and no pollution! Mr. Oswald said so in science class!
(Later, the kids, except Jan who fell asleep, watch another episode of Crystalized with excitement on their faces. End of flashback.)
Zoey: Well, that explains it. We're in Jan's dream of Ninjago.
Jay: What?!
Logan: Wind. And you used to be Fire. So, you're the Master of Hot Air, now? Hahaha. That's so lame!
Kai: Really need to have a talk with that kid about my powers.
Jay: This is some kid's dream of Ninjago?! You mean, we're not real?! And what about the Nightmare King?!
Zoey: We haven't got all night here! Cole, you ride with me. You two, on the drone. Blue Boy, you go with Izzie on Bunchu.
Jay: Why do I have to—
Zoey: Zane, Nya and Lloyd, in Cooper's car. Go! After the Grimkeepers! We'll pursue the Shark Ship. We got to stop it before it reaches the edge of the realm.
Cole: Wait, kids will be in danger if they dream about their favorite tv show?
Jay: This makes no sense.
(They go off. Zoey, Cole, Kai, Logan and on the sky, and Jay, Izzie, Nya, Zane, Lloyd, and Cooper on the ground.)
Kai: What will happen if that "Nightmare King" guy gets a hold of that kid?
Mateo: My guess is, he'll become the Emperor, and it wouldn't be safe for anyone to dream about Ninjago.
(Meanwhile, in the Nightmare Galleon, Max and Jan are prisoners. The Night Hunter approaches Jan.)
Jan: Who are you? What do you want from me?! The Emperor commands-
Night Hunter: Silence! You may be dreaming you are the emperor of this realm, but this is my vessel. And you have no authority here! Soon, the Nightmare King will claim your crown!
Jan: Bu-bu-but-
(Before he can say anything, the Night Hunter shows his hook to Jan, startling him.)
Night Hunter: Tell me! What were those warriors you summoned? What are their powers?!
(Jan would answer, but he's too afraid to say anything as he started to cry, so the Night Hunter turned to Max.)
Night Hunter: You! You are a dreamer, too! Who were those warriors?!
Max: They are...Ninja. Um, Elemental Masters of Spinjitzu!
Night Hunter: They control the elements? Which elements?
Max: You can kinda tell them by their clothes. The red one? That's Kai! Can control Fire. And then there's um... Lloyd. No one really knows what his power is, except it's pretty powerful! People keep calling it "Energy", but...mm... I don't know. In fact, he is half-dragon and half-Oni. But despite being a fan favorite, the writers really haven't done anything...
Night Hunter: If the Nightmare King ruled this realm, he would also govern these... ninja and their powers! An interesting prospect indeed.
Susan: I say that would be one neat catch! And plus, we could use that Fire guy. The Shadowkeep gets so chilly this time of year!
Snivel: The Nightmare King will be pleased! And we will be warm. Win, win, win!
(On the ground, the Grimkeepers are walking. On their backs, Cooper, Zane, Nya, Lloyd, Jay, Izzie and Bunchu are catching them. Izzie talks with Jay, who is bounced about from being on Bunchu.)
Izzie: I loved you in Possession. I loved both the WILFilm and the WildBrain seasons. The Hangemans and Bragi's writing is so good! Honestly, I was a little concerned when episodes switched to 11 minutes, but you guys totally made it work.
Cooper: Nya, man the blaster!
(Nya blasts three Grimwolves and two Grimspawn while Cooper laughs with excitement. Nya aims a blast at the Grimkeeper before Zane hits it with his Ice powers. Lloyd leaps onto the Grimkeeper and climbs up to free the kid trapped inside. Jay groans as he uses his Nunchuks of Lightning.)
Jay: Ugh, I'm gonna be sick!
Izzie: Just don't barf on BunBun!
(Izzie and Jay fights the nightmare creatures. On the air, Zoey and Cole fly to Kai, Logan and Mateo.)
Logan: Look, all I'm saying is that it must be real bummer having epic Fire powers and then suddenly only be able to do Wind. I mean that's so... farty.
Kai: Will you stop rubbing it in?! At least I can still do this. (He uses Wind to blow Logan's hat.)
Logan: Hey!
Kai: What makes you so special, anyway?
Logan: (Angered, he turns into a monster.) Logaaan!
Kai: (Laughs.) You're right! That is pretty special. And you do know that you're not wearing pants, right?
Logan: You know you have a dumb voice, right?
Mateo: Will you two stop it?! Wind, shapeshifting, whatever you can do makes you special. Just embrace it and get creative with it, 'Cause right now, I need you both focused.
(They get in to position and Cole and Zoey come next to them. Logan shakes his hand to Zoey.)
Mateo: We'll never catch up about this rate! If that thing crosses over to the Grim Realm, all Ninjago will fall. Shouldn't there be a Realm Guardian or something?
Zoey: I'm afraid these guys are the guardians! (To Cole) No pressure.
Cole: We may not look like much, but we always get the job done! Mostly. And besides, we have Destiny on our side.
Zoey: Huh?
(On the Nightmare Galleon, the Night Hunter laughs.)
Night Hunter: The Nightmare King will rule this realm, and control all of the Elemental Powers. There is no stopping us now! (Suddenly, they hit something.)
Master Wu: Those are famous last words! (The thing they hit was the Destiny's Bounty, piloted by P.I.X.A.L.. The Night Hunter goes to the bridge.)
Night Hunter: Who are you?!
Master Wu: (appearing out of nowhere.) I'm the one who does not put off for tomorrow what can be done today!
Night Hunter: Why must teams of so-called "heroes" always be led by a grizzled old geezer?
Master Wu: You talk big for one who doesn't have the courage to show his face.
Jan: Yeah! Look at us! Go, Master Wu!
Max: Ooh, but the Bounty always crashes!
Night Hunter: Shred those sails! Take out those thrusters! Bring down the ship.
(The Night Terrors then go to the Bounty. On the ground, Izzie and Jay are still on Bunchu. Nya then uses the blaster to attack the nightmare creatures while Zane uses his Ice power to attack them. One Grimkeeper falls. Lloyd frees the girl by using his Energy. The girl gets out. Nya uses the laser to hit it on its eyes and Lloyd jumps just in time. He then removes his hood.)
Izzie: Y-y-yeah! We cut those turkeys!
Cooper: Gotta say, not bad for a first time collab.
Jay: (still sick) Yeah, great. Let's never do that again.
Nya: Aw, come on! It was kinda fun.
Jay: Says you! You were on that cool car.
(Cooper, Zane, and Nya jumps out of the car and it disappears.)
Izzie: You did great, BunBun! (Bunchu turns back into a plushy and Izzie hugs him.)
Lloyd: But, w'ere down here and the real battle is way up there! (points to the sky)
(Master Wu still fights the nightmare creatures. The Night Terrors then corrupts the sails. Zoey uses her arrows to hit the creatures.)
Logan: Mateo! Bring us in close. Let's take the fight to them.
(Mateo brings them in close, and Logan jumps down.)
Logan: (He fights the creatures.) Logaaaaaan!
Kai: I guess he is kind of special.
Mateo: He sure is. Just a bit of an acquired taste.
(One of the Grimkeepers breaks Bounty's right thruster, and the ship starts to crash.)
Zoey: Not good!
Kai: Can't you use that time-change thingy?
Zoey: All out. It needs to recharge.
(Bounty keeps falling, getting closer and closer to the ground.)
Kai: Mateo, get us down there!
Mateo: What's the plan?
Kai: Embrace and get creative!
Mateo: Let's go, Z.
(Mateo flies lower, and Kai jumps off Z-Blob.)
Kai: Okay, just like he said - embrace it and get creative with it.
(Kai starts shouting and uses his Wind powers beneath the Bounty to keep it from crashing. A moment later, Mateo joins him, flying underneath the Bounty and using Z-Blob engines to push it upward as well.)
Mateo: Jay, could use a boost here!
Jay: Oh, right!
(Jay electrifies Z-Blob, causing his turbines to spin faster. Mateo jumps down to the ground and enlarges Z-Blob, allowing him to keep the Bounty suspended in the air. The engine repairs itself, and the Bounty heads toward the Night Terrors' ship.)
Susan: Wind? He's using Wind?!
Night Hunter: You said he was a Master of Fire!
Max: Oh yeah. Oh, this is all kinds of wrong. That's because we're in Jan's dream. He likes to make up his own stories.
Jan: Wind is more efficient than fire. Mr. Oswald says so himself.
(Logan arrives carrying a spear.)
Logan: Want to discuss that later?
(Logan frees Max and Jan.)
Night Hunter: Catch them!
(Logan fights Night Hunter's monsters and incapacitates the entire crew.)
Max and Jan: Yeah!
Logan: Hey, Zoey! Two orders to go.
(Logan, Max, and Jan jump off the Nightmare Galleon, while Zoey and Zian catch them in midair.)
Zoey: Pick-up and delivery.
(Master Wu rams the Bounty into the Nightmare Galleon, sending the latter ship soaring high into the sky. The sky clears, Kai drops to his knees in exhaustion, and Z-Blob returns to his normal form, falling onto Kai's head. A moment later, Mateo lifts him off Kai.)
Izzie: You did it! That was awesome!
(Zoey and Logan also return to the ground. Logan transforms back into a human.)
Kai: We did it. We all did it. And right now, I'd like to have a word with that kid.
(Kai walks over to Jan.)
Jan: (Scared.) I promise not to make up stuff about your powers again! Please don't hurt me!
Kai: (With a grin on his face, he uses his Wind powers to toss the crown on Jan's head into the air.) Why would I? This hot air saved the day.
(Jan, Max, and their friend disappear. Kai looks back at the others, confused.)
Nya: So, does this mean it's safe to dream about Ninjago?
Mateo: I'd say so. I think the Nightmare King will think twice before messing with you guys again.
Cole: And those dreamers won't remember anything?
Cooper: Only very few dreamers do. Like us Dream Chasers.
Zane: So does that mean we won't be seeing you guys again?
Izzie: Are you kidding? There is so much I want to ask you! We'll stop by all the time.
Zoey: When we're not out saving dreamers elsewhere.
Izzie: Sure, sure - we'll drop by on our nights off. We're only ever one dream away.
(Back at the school, Cooper approaches the Dream Chasers.)
Cooper: (Exhausted.) Oh, man... (yawn) Brr. I don't think I aced that test at all. I was way too tired.
Logan: Who cares? I don't need some dumb tests to tell me I'm special.
Mateo: Yeah, we did good last night. I can't wait to go back to Ninjago. Just to hang out, I mean.
(Jan approaches.)
Izzie: Hi, Jan! How was your Ninjago marathon on Friday?
Jan: It was awesome! Huge success. We'll definitely be doing that again. I have ideas for more - Nexo Knights, Bionicle, City Adventures...
Logan: Oh, boy. I think we'll have some busy nights ahead of us...
(In the background, Jan continues listing themes.)
Jan: ...Legends of Chima, Hero Factory, Friends, Monkie Kid!
