At the Training plateau of the Dragon Masters, the Ninja continue their training under Rontu and Egalt. While Sora and Riyu balanced atop of poles, Wyldfyre grumbled that if it weren't for her injured leg, she would be showing the two how better she was at maintaining her balance. Overhearing Wyldfyre's complaints, Rontu patiently reminded her that she could not yet perform Spinjitzu, but urged her to watch Egalt's section to try and memorize their movements.
At Egalt's section, Lloyd, Kai, Nya, and Arin were leaping around a series of tethered logs with their eyes closed, feeling their place in the motion of the universe and working to harmonize themselves with it. While the three older ninja made it seem almost effortless, Arin found himself struggling with the exercise. After some time, Egalt called the four to a halt and asked them to follow him, for he wanted to share with them something that would sharpen their perspective. Leading the four for some distance outside of the training plateau, Egalt brought his students to a rapidly flowing river and informed them that they would ride its current. With a powerful swing of his tail, Egalt then felled four trees and stripped them of their branches until they were perfectly smooth, informing his students that they would use these to ride down the river's path.
As the four each drifted down the current on their own log, Arin grumbled that he was bored, as nothing was happening. Kai pointed out in response that things would get exciting soon enough, as they were heading towards the rapids through a series of massive stones! Preparing themselves for the obstacles ahead, the three older Ninja repositioned themselves to move their logs, gliding atop of the large stones instead of smashing into them. Arin on the other hand, was not so fortunate, and was instead flung far into the air when his log smashed into one of the stones.
Sailing through the air, Arin pulled out his grappling gun and used its hook and cord to break his fall, swinging himself back onto his log behind the older trio, where he declared that he was alright and safe now! However, none of the older three had realized Arin had been in danger and stared at him in confusion. Continuing onwards, the river flowed into a vast, calm lake, and the ninja drifted into its center. Lloyd emphasized the stillness of this place and the tranquility that now surrounded them. Kai on the other hand, noted that something was emerging out from under him, and in the blink of an eye, a giant piranha lunged out of the water with gaping jaws. Realizing his log was doomed, Kai used Spinjitzu to leap onto Nya's log while the massive fish dove back into the depths below.
Landing beside his sister, Kai warned the others that there were likely more of these giant fish lurking below, but they should be able to tell when they were going to attack as giant bubbles would first form on the water's surface. The next attack forced Lloyd onto the same log as Nya and Kai. Nya then noted that with her mastery over Water, she could get all of them out of here and back to safety. Arin however revealed he was still on his own log and far from safety as the giant fish eyed him next. In response, Lloyd called out to Arin, urging him to perform a Spinjitzu jump like he and Kai had to propel himself to Nya's log. Although Arin doubted himself, Lloyd encouraged his student, reminding him that he was a second-fang ninja and that Lloyd himself believed in him. With Lloyd's words of encouragement, Arin managed to leap onto Nya's log just as a giant piranha attacked his log. With all four together now, Nya used her powers to summon a massive wave, sweeping away the piranhas and ferrying the Ninja's log back to shore.
As the ninja walked back to the training plateau, Nya admitted she felt like she had cheated by using her powers, noting that the experience was supposed to teach them something, but she had instead used her powers to finish it earlier and easier than Egalt had probably intended. When she asked the others for their suggestions of what to do next and whether they should keep this information a secret, Lloyd informed her that they should never hide anything from their master. After telling Egalt about their experiences on the journey and how Nya had used her powers to get them all to shore, the elderly dragon laughed off their feelings of cheating, remarking with pride that in his eyes, what they had done was teamwork.
