Gong of Shattering

Overview

“It's a myth from the Wyldness. Supposedly, someone can hit the gong with that mallet and it releases their dark energies.”

The Gong of Shattering is a special gong paired with the Mallet of Shattering, created for the Wolf Clan to tap into Thunderfang's dark energy. When struck by the mallet, it channels this dark power to those wearing Wolf Masks, effectively shattering any goodness within them. In particular, it can allow an Elemental Master wearing a Wolf Mask to gain access to the full power of Shatterspin.

Background[]

Lord Argus ringing the gong

Lord Argus ringing the gong

The Gong of Shattering was once used by the Forbidden Five to empower their army of Wolf Mask Warriors with Thunderfang's dragon energy. After they were banished to the Nether-Space, Lord Argus took over the Wolf Clan and was approached by Zaiden Kane, who manipulated him into ringing the gong, which he did. By this act, Argus was turned into the Lycan King and all of the Wyldness was cursed into half-existence. After that, the gong was sealed alongside the Mallet of Shattering and all the Wolf Masks inside the Shadow Dojo, never to be opened again.[1]

Shatterspin[]

The Wyldness[]

Garmadon entered the Shadow Dojo and saw the gong at the back of the room. He picked up the Mallet of Shattering and threw it in a fit of rage. The mallet hit the gong and rang it. The force from the hit pushed Garmadon through the walls of the dojo and further into the Forest of Spirits. The Children of the Wolf witnessed this. Knowing the Lycan King would have heard the gong ring, they tried to find Garmadon.

Destinies[]

Asa stares at the gong in the Shadow Dojo. After Buck Buck finds a Wolf Mask, Asa picks it up, and Wolf warrior ghosts come out of the walls of the dojo and creep toward the boy. They ask him if he is the child with an Elemental Power that was foretold to save them. They tell him to ring the gong to free them. As they touch his head, his eyes turn white, and they threaten to possess him if he does not comply. Before anything could happen however, the Lycan King emerges from the shadows of the dojo and abducts Asa, forcing the spirits of the Wolf Warriors to retreat.

Homecoming[]

When Asa sees Garmadon at the gong, Garmadon expresses his risk of being turned into a wolf beast but Asa gets a Wolf Mask and rings the gong himself, granting him the true power of Shatterspin.

Abilities

Abilities[]

  • Physical Enhancement - When the gong is hit by the Mallet of Shattering, its Chaos energy can shatter a person’s goodness in their soul in order to grant the wolf warriors enhanced physical powers by supercharging them into the Wolf Mask Claw Warriors. However, the mallet has to hit the gong every few seconds to continue the empowerment since it can leave the wearers powerless when not doing so.
    • Shatterspin accessibility - Elemental Masters who wear the Wolf Masks when the gong is hit by the mallet can access Shatterspin.
    • Curse Inducement - When struck by an unworthy person who tries to use the real power of Shatterspin through the gong's energy while they aren't an Elemental Master, the gong would curse both them and the Wyldness.
      • Lycanthropic Infection (formerly) - When the gong was struck with the mallet by someone unworthy (notably someone without Elemental Powers), it would curse the person by turning them into a lycanthrope.
    • Construct Creation - When the gong is used with the Wolf Mask, it allows the Wolf warriors to manifest constructs, such as claw gauntlets strong enough to tear apart even fused objects.
