The Battle of the Second Monastery was a battle between the ninja and Claws of Imperium that originally began with Sora intending to destroy her Photacs before eventually leading to free the dragons, that also revealed the Monastery of Imperium.

Prelude[]

After witnessing the Claws of Imperium's usage of one of her Photacs in Kreel's Junkyard, Sora vowed to return to Imperium to destroy what she had created. Alongside Arin and Lloyd, the three infiltrated the City of Imperium but ran into complications. Sora was captured and forced to activate hundreds of newly manufactured Photac generators while Lloyd encountered Wyldfyre and with her help, released all of the dragons held captive by Imperium. Seeking to escape the city with the freed dragons, Lloyd and Wyldfyre were met by the Claws of Imperium in the plaza outside of the Imperium Palace. Wyldfyre responded on behalf of the dragons and rejected Rapton's offer for surrender, initiating the Battle of the Second Monastery.

The Battle[]

Chaos broke out across the royal plaza as dragons and their human allies clashed against the Claws of Imperium and their Photacs. With Sora insisting that she had a plan to disable the Photacs, Lloyd sent her and Arin to find Riyu while he and the others held the Claws back for as long as they could. Unfortunately as the battle progressed and the tide began to turn in favor of the Claws, with little progress on Sora and Arin's parts as well, Lloyd began to feel overwhelmed by the increasing stress of battle. Recalling Master Wu's words of wisdom however, Lloyd regained his composure and ordered an attack on the Imperium Palace, drawing out Lord Ras and Empress Beatrix into the battle.

With Beatrix and her enforcer removed from the palace grounds, Arin and Sora made their way into the palace to save Riyu but were confronted by Dr. LaRow and Jordana. Moments later, the Monastery of Imperium rose out from underneath the plaza, shocking all belligerents into halting their fighting. As the gates of the monastery opened, Kai, Nya, and Zane stepped out to join the fight on the side of the dragons.

In spite of the arrival of reinforcements for the ninja, the Claws of Imperium continued to dominate the battlefield thanks to their indestructible Photacs. Left without any further options, Lloyd called for the dragons to retreat inside the monastery walls while Ras returned to the palace to deal with Sora and Arin. Within the monastery, Lloyd discovered an underground passageway taking him to a chamber housing the captive Source Dragon of Energy who then shared his Dragon energy with Lloyd so he could help the liberated dragons escape. Outside, Sora and Arin were able to manipulate Ras into releasing Riyu, allowing Sora to incapacitate him with pieces of Riyu's containment box. Rushing outside of the palace, Sora deactivated all the Photacs, defeating the Claws of Imperium while the ninja and the dragons escaped through the Monastery of Imperium's Portal gate back to Ninjago.

Aftermath[]

Several days after the dragons' escape, Beatrix called a meeting to strip Ras of his position and imprison him while abandoning her goal of capturing dragons to her desire to defeat the Ninja. She also had the Monastery of Imperium stripped apart and sent its pieces either underground or the Land of Lost Things, and started to spread false rumors, claiming the dragons were recaptured. This led to the Imperium Teen Protection Force to run an investigation and eventually formed a resistance to expose her.
