Overview
Beatrix Vespasian-Orus (formerly known as the Good Empress) is the former totalitarian Empress of the Kingdom of Imperium. Long before the Merge, she allied with Ras to murder her father, Levo, and banished her twin sister and rightful heir, Zeatrix, in order to take the throne. After Imperium conflated with the other realms, she sought to capture the Source Dragons to meet the energy needs of Imperium forever while also gaining control of every other realm.
After an encounter with the ninja, she began seeing them as obstacles. Now focusing her attention on the heroic group, she decided to deal with them herself, being fed up with Ras's several failures in stopping them from rescuing the dragons that the Claws of Imperium had captured. When she learned of the Dragon Cores, she intended to use them to eliminate the ninja. Her desires got the best of her when her true nature was broadcast, making most Imperians lose respect for her. In retaliation, she attempted to use her MergeQuake weapon to eliminate everyone by sending them into MergeQuake rifts. After Sora, a former Imperian citizen named Ana, destroyed the weapon, Beatrix was sent into a MergeQuake rift herself by Arin, sending her into the Land of Monsters, where she was fused with her Empress Mech and became a cyborg monster.
After the Battle of the Spectral Lands, Beatrix, supported by her Loyalists, sought to find the Weapon of Desolation to control the Elemental Monsters as her army to reclaim the Kingdom of Imperium, only to be defeated by the ninja again and rendered comatose. The Loyalists enacted a plan to use an artifact called the Mind Crystal to body swap her with Zeatrix, giving her a healthy body. The operation was a success and she attempted to take over the Council of the Merged Lands. However, she was defeated and returned to her main body, which remained comatose.

History[]
Background[]
Beatrix and her family meeting Ras
Beatrix, the second-born daughter of Levo, the Emperor of the Kingdom of Imperium, held a significant position in the line of succession for the throne alongside her twin sister, Zeatrix. However, Beatrix was overshadowed by her father's favoritism towards Zeatrix. The reason behind this preference lay in Zeatrix's abilities as an Elemental Master, which she had inherited from their father. As Zeatrix wielded her Elemental Power, Beatrix couldn't help but feel inadequate and taunted from her own family. Over time, these experiences fueled Beatrix's yearning for true power and fostered a deep resentment towards her father and sister.
Beatrix teaming up with Ras
One day, a tiger from the Wyldness named Ras arrived in the kingdom. Ras offered his assistance to Levo. He claimed that by using the kindgom's technology, he could capture a Source Dragon, thereby averting an impending energy crisis and potentially enabling the conquest of other realms. However, Levo dismissed Ras' proposal and had Zeatrix kick the latter out with her powers. Despite her father's rejection, Beatrix was captivated by Ras' proposition.[2]
Beatrix becoming an empress
Beatrix and Ras rendezvoused, where she proceeded to express her acceptance of Ras' offer. She elaborated on her reasons for defying her own family, emphasizing that if Ras assisted her in ascending to the position of Empress, she would ensure that he received the necessary resources to capture a Source Dragon. This, in turn, would grant the Imperium dominion over the remaining realms. To accomplish this, Beatrix and Ras planted a bomb on her father's hover chariot, causing it to crash and resulting in his instant death, all while making it appear as an unfortunate accident. They later expelled Zeatrix from the kingdom, resulting in Beatrix becoming the Empress of Imperium. From then on, Beatrix enforced strict rules in the kingdom, banishing and eliminating those who opposed her, similar to what happened to Levo and Zeatrix.[2][3]
Beatrix would later establish the Advanced Systems Lab under the supervision of Dr. LaRow and a team of scientists to develop specialized tools for hunting dragons[4] and the Claws of Imperium to hunt them. However, when the Merge occurred and merged Imperium with other realms, Beatrix saw an opportunity to use the Photacs to capture every single dragon across the realms.[5]
Dragons Rising, Season 1[]
The Merge: Part 2[]
Beatrix looking at the imprisoned Source Dragon
Ras communicated with Beatrix to inform her of Lloyd revealing himself and making a connection with the Matriarch of the Mountain Dragons before she visits the Source Dragon of Energy who was supplying power to Imperium.
I Will Be the Danger[]
Beatrix speaking to Dr. LaRow
Dr. LaRow called Empress Beatrix from the Advanced Systems Lab to inform her that the Photacs were ready. Beatrix was pleased by this news and ordered her and Ras to recapture the escaped dragons.
The Calm Inside[]
Beatrix came across a teenage Imperian citizen Percival Tartigrade, who had brought in Riyu on his hoverboard. After having the baby dragon caged, Beatrix informed Ras of the capture and orders him to return to her.
Receiving Riyu from Percival Tartigrade
As she congratulated Percival before he leaves, Ras arrived. Beatrix then asked Ras about the role of Riyu in his plan, considering the trouble it had caused him. Ras attributed the difficulty to the ninja's interference. However, Beatrix pointed out that Percival had delivered the dragon to her with ease. Beatrix then issued a warning to Riyu, stating that her actions would dishearten his friends and quell their rebellion. She directed Ras to call in Dr. LaRow to extract the dragon's energy, despite Ras reminding her of the importance of keeping the dragon alive for his plan. Beatrix responded by asserting her authority, making it clear that she would not tolerate being told what to do by anyone. Even reaching the point where she reminded Ras that he was an outlander, causing him to bow his head in acknowledgment of her authority. Beatrix commanded Ras to call Dr. LaRow to drain the dragon.
Ras and Beatrix looking at Riyu
As Dr. LaRow and Jordana arrived, Beatrix waited for Riyu's energy to be drained. Dr. LaRow and Jordana prepared to extract Riyu's energy when an attack by Lloyd and the dragons disrupted the plan. Beatrix expressed her outrage at the brazen assault and left with Ras to assess the situation. Upon arriving at her hover chariot, Beatrix confronted Lloyd, accusing him of laying siege to the Imperium Palace. As Lloyd condemned Beatrix's treatment of dragons as mere objects, Beatrix maintained her position as Empress and refused to provide any clarifications to those she deemed inferior. She then commanded the Claws of Imperium to attack, showing no mercy toward the ninja and dragons.
The Battle of the Second Monastery[]
Beatrix watching the Battle of the Second Monastery
Beatrix issued orders to the Claws of Imperium to take action against the ninja, who were still caught off guard by their sudden arrival. The ninja sought refuge in the Monastery of Imperium, prompting Beatrix to remind Rapton of the purpose behind providing the Photac Beasts, whose indestructibility can effectively bring down the doors. While Rapton suggested a strategic approach, Beatrix insists on a more direct one, urging him to simply break down the doors. After the successful escape of the ninja and dragons, Beatrix dissatisfied with the outcome and felt surrounded by her incompetent Imperian colleagues. Overwhelmed by anger, she unleashed a burst of energy from her Claw Staff, causing debris to cascade around Rapton.
Beatrix inside of her Empress Mech
Days later, Beatrix convened a meeting in the throne room, summoning Ras, Rapton, and two Claw Hunters. Ras apprised Beatrix of their progress in organizing additional dragon hunts. However, Beatrix was disinterested in dragons, instead fixating on her personal humiliation inflicted by the ninja. She vehemently demanded the eradication of the team. Ras attempted to remind her of the plan, emphasizing the importance of what Imperium could do with just having one Source Dragon. Disregarding his guidance, Beatrix commanded the immediate arrest of Ras by the Claws of Imperium, accusing him of repeated failures. Furthermore, she revealed her intention to personally confront the ninja, activating the concealed mechanized form of her throne, known as the Empress Mech.
The Temple of the Dragon Cores[]
Beatrix giving a speech to her citizens
Beatrix claimed that Imperium was the center of the Merged Realms. She lied that a small faction of Imperians has been propagating rumors about the dragons escaping, but she assured the populace that they were swiftly recaptured and that there is no energy shortage now that the dragons were back under Imperium's control. Beatrix cautions that anyone who voiced dissent against Imperium or spreaded rumors would be incarcerated as a traitor. She pledged to persist in leading the Imperians toward a brighter future. As the broadcast ended, Dr. LaRow explained the ongoing energy crisis to Beatrix. Beatrix, however, reminds Dr. LaRow of the Source Dragon held underneath the palace, a powerful energy source that was meant to sustain them indefinitely. Unfortunately, Dr. LaRow explained that extracting the dragon power from the Source Dragon they have is a complex process, which is why Ras sought an alternative plan. Beatrix vehemently refused to hear Ras's name mentioned in her presence. Dr. LaRow proposed implementing energy conservation measures to alleviate the crisis, but Beatrix dismissed the idea, fearing that it would upset her subjects and make them difficult to control. She placed the blame on the ninja for the energy crisis and eagerly awaited the results of Rapton's spy mission.
Beatrix learned from Rapton of the three Dragon Cores, which the ninja sought to retrieve in order to stabilize the world from further merge quakes. When asked by Rapton if she wants to use the cores to stop the MergeQuakes, Beatrix tells him that she'll use them as a weapon to stop the ninja for good.
Gangs of the Sea[]
Beatrix with Rapton
In the storage facility, Beatrix walked in to find Rapton waiting for her. He assured her that everything was ready. Beatrix expressed her contentment, stressing the significance of outsmarting the ninja in acquiring the Dragon Cores and annihilating them. Rapton voiced his concern, proposing that they should concentrate on capturing dragons instead of solely focusing on the ninja. However, Beatrix remained resolute in seeking vengeance against the ninja for their defiance. She firmly believed that once the ninja were eliminated, no one would be able to impede their efforts in obtaining any dragon they desired.
Absolute Power[]
Beatrix receiving the Dragon Energy Core
Beatrix makes another claim, saying that the Crossroads is a haven for criminals and more dragons were coming in before hugging two children. It then turned out to be staged by Dorama with the 'children' being simple actors due to her distaste in children before Rapton arrived, having recovered the Dragon Core he was assigned to before learning the ninja are not far behind.
Beatrix visiting Ras in his cell
Beatrix then proclaimed her long awaited vow against the ninja before denying Dr. LaRow's request to test out the MergeQuake weapon with the ninja on the way. When the test commenced, the core Rapton gave her exploded, angering her before she visits Ras, who reminds her of how she got the throne in the first place before he demands to be let out, but she refuses. Soon, a guard warned her of the ninja's arrival, leading her to return to the lab, where Rapton was no longer present after the fake was destroyed. Beatrix then demanded LaRow to make one out of the source dragon below the city. When she refused, Jordana requested to lead the extraction, which Beatrix accepted.
We Are All Dragons[]
Attacking the ninja
In the company of the Claw Hunters, Beatrix confronted the ninja and the Imperium Teen Resistance Force on the Empress Mech. Beatrix expressed her shock that any Imperians would dare to side with the ninja, emphasizing that they would face execution. The Empress further criticized the ninja for invading her kingdom, deeming their actions foolish and disrespectful. She belittled their training and Elemental Powers, confidently asserting that they were no match for her superior strength and skill. As the ninja attacked her with their Elemental Powers, Beatrix remained unfazed and effortlessly blocked their every move. She knocked them back with her Imperium Sword, taunting them about the strength of their abilities. Beatrix asserted her dominance and declared that no one, not even the most skilled and powerful, could ever surpass her might.
Beatrix watching a leaked video of her true colors
Beatrix observed Nya and Sora, riding on the backs of Jiro and Zanth, approaching Imperium while launching an attack on the electro-barrier. She scoffed at their attempt, confident in Imperium's invincibility. However, as Jiro unleashed a powerful lightning beam, Beatrix was left in disbelief as the barrier was destroyed. She was caught off guard as Jiro charged towards her, and she responded by pushing him away with all her might. Beatrix was determined to capture the Resistance, and she engaged in a fierce battle with Zanth and Jiro. During the battle, Beatrix found herself briefly overpowered and thrown against a building, causing debris to collapse upon her. However, she seized Zanth by the tail, slamming her forcefully onto the ground. Jiro rushed towards Beatrix, but she tossed him aside and firmly grasped his armor, declaring that no dragon could beat her. With a swift motion, she cut off a blaster from Jiro's weaponized armor.
Beatrix using the MergeQuake weapon
Beatrix threw one of Jiro's blasters towards Lloyd, Nya, and Zane, nearly hitting them. Beatrix remained steadfast in her determination to prevent the ninja from obtaining the Dragon Cores. With her Imperium Sword in hand, she parried and countered the ninja's attacks with ease. Overpowering them with a single forceful blow, Beatrix sent the ninja reeling backward. However, her triumph was short-lived as she overheard a video recording of herself expressing her deep-seated hatred towards Imperians and her own family. Beatrix found herself in agreement with her own words, but soon realized that her true colors were being exposed all over Imperium. She watched as Sora delivered a speech exposing Beatrix's dark actions of mercilessly torturing dragons until their demise and her dehumanizing treatment of all beings. As the Imperians began to express their outrage, jeering and throwing objects at Beatrix, she frantically insisted that the videos were fake and that she was a nice person. However, her desperate attempts to regain control of the situation backfired, and she even resorted to throwing one of the Imperium Guards, who were on Beatrix's side, at the angry citizens before fleeing as Jordana contacts her, informing her the extraction was complete.
In front of the Imperium Palace, Beatrix stood face to face with the ninja, now equipped with the MergeQuake weapon. She showed her mastery over the Dragon Cores and proclaimed her victory over the ninja. As she raised her weapon, a beam of dragon power shot up into the sky, causing a MergeQuake to form.
The Power Within[]
Sora destroying the Mergequake weapon
Beatrix felt a sense of accomplishment as the MergeQuake weapon worked. The ninja urged Beatrix to stop using the weapon, warning her of the danger and the potential consequences. Beatrix, thinking that they were trying to deceive her, accused them of coveting her power and refused to listen to them. She unleashed an immense wave of energy from her Imperium Sword, pushing the ninja back and focusing her attention on the Imperians. Beatrix began to equate the Imperians to the ninja. She declared her right to rule over Imperium, vowing to destroy anyone who dared to oppose her. She began to fire blasts of dragon power, causing the Imperians to be forcefully drawn into the MergeQuakes. The ninja retaliated by attacking Beatrix with their Elemental Powers and Spinjitzu. She swung her sword, unleashing a wave of energy, but Wyldfyre countered with a blast of Heat. Beatrix, however, used the MergeQuake weapon, causing Wyldfyre to be sucked into a rift. Beatrix then aimed the MergeQuake weapon directly at Kai, who swiftly evaded the newly formed MergeQuakes and charged towards Beatrix. However, Beatrix swiftly knocked Kai aside with her sword, continuing to fire MergeQuakes everywhere.
Beatrix being lost in the MergeQuake
Riyu rushed towards Sora, but Beatrix fired behind him, causing the dragon to be sucked into a rift. Witnessing Beatrix's attack on Sora, Arin quickly picked up a rock and used Object Spinjitzu to throw it at the Empress Mech, punching a hole clean through the mech and causing Beatrix to fall to the ground. Kai, seeking revenge for Wyldfyre, launched a fireball at Beatrix and attempted to attack her, but she quickly sent him into a MergeQuake. Beatrix dashed through Imperium, followed by Nya and Rapton. She shot at them, causing Rapton to be sucked into a MergeQuake. Lloyd, piloting the Master Mech, struck Beatrix, disarming her of the MergeQuake weapon. Arin, in the Dragon Mech, headed toward the MergeQuake weapon. However, Beatrix tripped the younger ninja, and began to fight both him and Lloyd until she fired the MergeQuake weapon, causing their mechs to be sucked in. Beatrix was ready to unleash the power of the MergeQuake weapon upon both ninja. She declared that it was the end for them. However, just as Beatrix prepared to attack, Sora tapped into her Elemental Powers and unlocked her True Potential. Beatrix was confused by what was happening. Suddenly, Sora's True Potential destroyed the MergeQuake weapon, leaving Beatrix stunned. Before the empress can regain her composure, Arin, fueled by vengeance for Riyu, utilized Spinjitzu to deliver a powerful blow, sending her tumbling into a MergeQuake.
Prior to Dragons Rising, Season 4[]
Beatrix in Land of Monsters after Arin sent her into one of MergeQuake rift.
After the MergeQuake Storm ended, most of its victims escaped unscathed, but Beatrix didn’t. When she was pushed into the MergeQuake by Arin, its effects resulted in her becoming fused with the Empress Mech itself, with even a cybernetic implant being placed on the side of her face. Presumed dead, Beatrix found herself stranded in the Land of Monsters, where she spent months battling the monsters and eventually became one herself, driven by a desire for revenge against the ninja and Imperians who had sided with them, further slipping into madness. During this time, her mech, damaged by the many fights, was partially repaired by grafting various monster parts to her new body. Though she eventually managed to escape the Land of Monsters, Beatrix was gravely injured, briefly passing out. She was however, rescued near Umbrasilvis by Dr. LaRow, who had established a cult called the Loyalists, Imperians loyal to Beatrix and determined to help her reclaim the Kingdom of Imperium.[6]
Dragons Rising, Season 4[]
Seed and Soil[]
Beatrix pleased about the power she will get soon.
After a Loyalist informed LaRow about the behavior of the released Mutation Monster and sent her the map of the fragments of the Weapon of Desolation, LaRow explained the situation to Beatrix, pleasing her about the power she will get soon.
Dying to Live[]
Beatrix looking at the hologram of the City of Imperium.
Beatrix recounted her journey in Land of Monsters to the Loyalists. During this, Dr. LaRow explained the Weapon of Desolation, which was responsible for the Elemental Monsters and allows the wielder to control them as their own army. She revealed that the Loyalists have acquired both halves of the weapon and will be delivering them soon, enabling the complete assembly of the Weapon of Desolation. Beatrix declared that with the Elemental Monsters at her command, she would exact revenge on those who betrayed her and doubted her divine right, showing them no mercy.
Afterward, Beatrix and Dr. LaRow talked about the weapon, with Beatrix dismissing it as a worn-out relic. Dr. LaRow, however, argued that the Weapon of Desolation's influence was evident throughout the Merged Lands. She revealed that the tablet contained the incantations used by the First Spinjitzu Master to divide the weapon. Uninterested in the authorship, Beatrix pressed for confirmation on whether the incantations would work. Dr. LaRow clarified that reversing them like a mathematical equation would reunite the fragments. When Beatrix was skeptical about the tablet being a mere trick, LaRow reassured her, pointing out that she had ventured into an unknown realm just to find it. At that moment, the Lead Loyalist arrived with the yellow fragment, and Dr. LaRow passed it to Beatrix for her inspection.
As Cole was fighting off against the Loyalists with his new Elemental Golem, Beatrix entered the room and saw him. Still angry at the ninja for making her feel humiliated, Beatrix attacked Cole, saying how she is been dreaming of this day. Even though Cole gained the upper hand by using a turret of one of the hover chariots, Beatrix eventually overpowered and seized the fragment from him, thus disassembling his Elemental Golem as Loyalists came to capture Cole. Then, Beatrix knocks Cole by stepping on him.
Later, as Cole woke up, he saw Beatrix and Loyalists waiting for the Grand Inquisitor, who acquired the other fragment. After taking the fragment from the Inquisitor, Dr. LaRow shows the fragment to Beatrix, saying there was no reason to doubt her. Beatrix said they will see about that and commanded Loyalists to bring the other fragment. After Loyalists put the Weapon of Desolation back together, Beatrix hold the scepter and activated by saying the final incantation thanks to LaRow. Then, Beatrix said she will lead them to the rightful glory and eliminate anyone who dares to defy her.
The Heartbeat of all the Realms[]
Beatrix ordering her subordinates to march on Imperium.
Beatrix arrived in Imperium, holding the Weapon of Desolation and accompanied by her Loyalists, with Cole handcuffed on a small platform beside her. She projected a hologram near the city walls, demanding to know who represented her subjects in her absence. Percival stepped forward as an elected official, prompting Beatrix to mock him for once bringing her Riyu and aspiring to be a Claw of Imperium. Percival admitted he had been brainwashed by her propaganda but had since awakened, like many Imperians, and called her a tyrant for lying about safe energy while draining dragons. Beatrix countered that her actions were necessary for the kingdom's prosperity and ridiculed their new "free society" for its struggles, claiming life was better under her rule. Percival shot back, accusing her of oppression and asserting that their independent society was worth the struggles. Beatrix reminded the crowd that they once revered her as the Good Empress and offered them a chance to surrender for mercy, threatening to take Imperium by force if they refused. Percival left the decision to the crowd, who responded with silence for surrender and loud cheers for defiance. He declared that Imperium rejected her once more, prompting Beatrix to be satisfied with the idea of "no mercy." Percival warned her of a fair trial for her crimes, including her father's death, if she entered the city, but Beatrix dismissed his threat, stating the outcome would be on his hands before cutting off the projection. Beatrix activated the Weapon of Desolation, summoning a vast army of Elemental Monsters. With her army ready, she taunted Cole, revealing that she had kept him alive just to make him watch her victory. Asserting her intent to reclaim what was rightfully hers, Beatrix commanded her forces to march on Imperium.
Cole used his Elemental Powers to escape and confront Beatrix and Dr. LaRow. He dodged Beatrix's attack and seized the Weapon of Desolation, transforming into his enhanced Elemental Golem form. He destroyed the platform controls, sending Beatrix crashing down and dropped the Weapon of Desolation, causing her to lose control of the Elemental Monsters as they behaved aggressively. Refusing to be outdone by an outsider, Beatrix retrieved the weapon and commanded her monsters to attack Cole and ordered the Mutation Monsters to scale the city walls. Meanwhile, Percival and his team successfully reactivated the city's electro-barrier, blocking the Mutation Monsters' advance. However, Dr. LaRow informed Beatrix that Loyalists within the city had sabotaged the barrier, which pleased her as she promised to spare them from her wrath once she took over the city.
Beatrix and her forces entering the City of Imperium
As the battle intensified with the arrival of more of the ninja, Beatrix grew frustrated with Riyu's presence, since the ninja had brought a dragon. She inquired about the status of the dragon-draining facilities, only to learn they had been deactivated by the new senate. Nevertheless, Dr. LaRow assured Beatrix they could be restored quickly, which satisfied her. When her Mutation Monsters captured Riyu, she ordered them to ignore the dragon and focus on the walls. Spotting a new gap in the city's defenses, Beatrix felt a thrill for her operatives and commanded her troops to advance. Leading her forces into the city with the Weapon of Desolation in hand, she declared her triumphant return.
Birthright[]
Beatrix confronting Percival
As the Loyalists and Elemental Monsters invaded Imperium, Beatrix went face-to-face with Percival. Seizing him, she questioned his audacity to usurp her power during her exile. Percival asserted that he had been elected to serve his people than taking it. Beatrix dismissed him as naive, insisting that true leadership is about being served, not serving others. She warned him that he would be powerless to stop her as she reclaimed her dominion over Imperium. Percival countered that Imperium would either be liberated or face destruction, prompting Beatrix to threaten him with death unless he and others submitted to her will. Just then, Lloyd arrived in his Draconus Form, and Beatrix released Percival. Lloyd cautioned the cyborg that she was toying with forces beyond her comprehension, but the cyborg retorted that while she understood power, she was baffled by Lloyd's transformation into a dragon, finding it repulsive. In turn, Lloyd pointed out that Beatrix had also changed, referencing her monstrous form. Unfazed, Beatrix corrected him, insisting on her title of Empress and arguing that her monstrous transformation was a result of the ninja's actions. She declared that no ninja, in any form, could thwart her now. The two clashed, with Beatrix wielding the Weapon of Desolation. The giant cyborg acknowledged the strength of Lloyd's new form, noting that his blows would have crushed any mortal. Yet, she insisted that it was still insufficient. Lloyd countered that he had evolved far beyond mere appearances, having come to understand his connection to the Merged Lands. However, Beatrix dismissed his insights, demanding a fight as she seized him, slamming him repeatedly to the ground. Lloyd broke free from her grasp and stabilized the Elemental Powers.
Beatrix using the Weapon of Desolation
Lloyd managed to disarm Beatrix by launching her into the air, causing her to lose the weapon. However, she quickly retrieved it, undeterred by Lloyd's warning about its capabilities. Beatrix was self-assured, believing the weapon posed a threat only to her enemies. Attempting to seize Lloyd once more, she lunged at him, but he countered by grabbing her arm and yanking it forward, sending her tumbling to the ground. Beatrix commanded the Elemental Monsters to annihilate Lloyd. To her astonishment, he effortlessly dispatched waves after waves of the creatures, a feat she considered impossible. Beatrix decided to enhance her forces by using the weapon to amplify two Earth Monsters and a Mutation Monster, increasing their size and strength and altering their form. She boldly proclaimed her intent to reclaim Imperium or see it reduced to ruins. Yet, as she continued to harness the weapon's power, it started to control her, much to the surprise of Dr. LaRow and the Loyalists, who had not anticipated the extent of the weapon's power.
Beatrix lying in the bed following the Loyalist assault
The Earth Monsters surrounded Lloyd, overwhelming him until Cole and Riyu arrived to fend off the two creatures. Beatrix, witnessing Riyu's presence, was disgusted and commanded the Elemental Monsters to destroy the dragon. She lamented her earlier decision to spare Cole, to which the latter retorted that her desire for him to witness her victory was backfiring spectacularly. Undeterred, Beatrix harnessed the power of the Weapon of Desolation again, enhancing the strength of the Elemental Monsters. The newfound power allowed them to overpower the ninja, and Beatrix declared Lloyd deserved the fate that awaited him. As the Earth Monsters unleashed a barrage of attacks on Lloyd, he recalled the words of the Arc Dragon of Life, which inspired him to have Nya, Kai, Jay, and Zane unlock their Draconus Forms. Together, they turned the tide, beating the Elemental Monsters. Beatrix, unwilling to lose her divine status again, was caught off guard when Lloyd struck her, causing her to drop the Weapon of Desolation. Before she could reclaim it, Euphrasia seized the weapon and handed it to Arin. In a desperate attempt to regain control, Beatrix lunged forward, but Riyu intervened, knocking her back. With the Elemental Monsters freed from Beatrix's control, the empowered Earth Monsters retaliated by firing beams of asphalt at her, rendering her in a coma. Arin then deactivated the Weapon of Desolation, effectively sealing away the Elemental Monsters and saving the Whispering Wood. With Beatrix defeated and several of her Loyalists apprehended, the unconscious cyborg was arrested and taken to a medical facility in Borg Tower for treatment.

They Gather for the Feast[]
At the welcome banquet, the ninja encountered Zeatrix, who was initially confused for Beatrix due to their resemblance. Zeatrix felt frustrated that the ninja had taken her chance to dethrone Beatrix. Following the event, Lloyd began to realize that the figure appearing in his dreams was not Beatrix, as he had thought, but rather Zeatrix.
A Wonder of the Merged Lands[]
The City of Imperium was grappling with an energy crisis. This caused a short argument between two Imperians, with the first citizen pointing out that Beatrix's regime involved torturing dragons for power. Although the second citizen agreed that her tactics were horrific, they insisted that the energy crisis was never happened under her leadership. Later, Percival brought up Beatrix, noting the electro-barrier as a remnant of her rule.
Appearance
Appearance[]
Beatrix's royal outfit
Beatrix is an adult woman with an almost identical appearance to that of her twin sister. She has thicker black eyebrows and prominent narrow lips, as well as Imperium markings on her face, specifically in several dark gold lines coming from her left eye and covering the entire left side of her head. She also has short white hair that is combed to the right side while shaved on the other side.
Her outfit consists of black and gold armor, over which she wears a black robe with gold accents and markings, as well as glowing orange elements alongside a gold and orange belt and black pants and boots with gold toecaps. She also has golden gloves and shoulder pads and wears a dark red cape. In the middle of her chest, she has an orange glowing orb, but it is not visible through the armor.
As a young woman, she wore very similar clothing, but her robe was dark red in color and she wore no shoulder pads or cape.
After becoming merged with her Empress Mech, she took on the appearance of a cyborg monster who incorporated aspects of her empress outfit along with a cybernetic implant on her face.
Personality
Personality[]
Beatrix being angry at Dr. LaRow for failing her
Empress Beatrix is a tyrannical dictator who has traits of megalomania, as she seeks to conquer the other realms and Ninjago and place them under her rule. She is also shown to be a narcissist as while she claims that she cares greatly for the City of Imperium, she is actually callous, sadistic, xenophobic, and unsympathetic towards dragons, her fellow Imperians, and all other living beings, no matter how much they had suffered under her, and she even expressed prejudice, since she sees everyone else as nothing more but mindless beasts, lesser beings, slaves, power sources, and pawns. Beatrix is also hot-tempered and intolerant of failures, and would not hesitate to punish any of her followers once her patience has been used up. In addition, Beatrix's desire to conquer the Merged Realms and rule over all of the universe's inhabitants suggests she may consider herself to be a deity, which is supported by her claim to be the "protector of the true path".
Beatrix pretending to like children on-screen
Beatrix is shown to be a deceitful and manipulative liar as she lied to the people of Imperium that the dragons the ninja had freed were recaptured and that they hadn't escaped. She also pretended to like children despite her complete distaste for them as she shot some promotional videos for Imperium in which she hugged children only to reveal they were paid actors in green suits. The reason for this is that Beatrix fully knows well that all of Imperium will panic if they ever learn the truth as well as the newly occurring energy crisis, making them harder to control. However, despite this, some people had already seen the incident with their own eyes and they began questioning why their "beloved" empress would lie to them.
Beatrix grinning after watching her father's death
Beatrix's hatred for the people around her stems from the fact that when she was young, her father favored her older twin sister in everything, even though she was born just minutes before her. However, since Zeatrix had an Elemental Power, her father was always the most important thing to them, which was why Beatrix built up such a huge grudge against her family and even didn't hesitate to eliminate them at the first opportunity she could gain power herself.
Following her exile to the Land of Monsters and transformation into a cybernetic monster, Beatrix became unstable and more sadistic and vengeful, developing a desire for revenge on the ninja and the Imperians who betrayed her.

Etymology
Etymology[]
Beatrix is a female given name and it means "one who brings joy" in Latin. It is also a Hungarian name and it means "voyager" or "traveler." The first part of her last name, Vespasian comes from the Roman Emperor, Vespasian, whose name is believed to mean either "west", "evening", or "wasp". The second part, Orus, comes from Greek mythology and it means the "first to be born." This is ironic as she is the second born twin.
Behind the scenes

Trivia
Trivia[]
- She is the first known descendant of an Elemental Master to be confirmed to not inherit an Elemental Power.
- She and her sister are the third pair of twins in the franchise, the first being the Time Twins, and the second being Akita and Kataru.
- She and Zeatrix are the only twins who look completely identical excluding their haircuts.
- She could be considered Acronix's opposite for several reasons.
- While they are both the younger twin, Acronix is able to share half of his family's power with Krux since Time can be split among twins thus allowing them to be Elemental Masters. Beatrix, on the other hand, ended up being born a normal person because her twin Zeatrix is the older twin.
- Acronix is completely loyal to his brother and would never betray him even though they have their differences, which annoys them, and wants to rule beside him, while Beatrix hates her sister and willingly betrays her so she could inherit the throne to Imperium for herself.
- Beatrix shares similarities and differences with Iron Baron.
- The similarities are that they were tyrannical rulers outside of Ninjago who abused dragons and lied to their people to hide their true agendas respectively.
- The differences are that Beatrix extracted the energy of dragons to maintain power in Imperium, while Iron Baron hunted dragons for survival and only wanted to take control of Firstbourne by wearing the Dragon Armor.
- Her beliefs at being overthrown unfairly is similar to Vangelis.
- She is the sixth main female villain in the franchise after the Preeminent, Harumi, Meowthra, Aspheera, and Nineko.
- Beatrix is also the second main female villain to have white hair with Harumi being the first. They are also both daughters of emperors.
- She is the second empress in Ninjago, the first being the Empress of Ninjago.

- However, she is the first main antagonist to be a twin that does not have her twin as the other main antagonist.
- Her facial markings are asymmetrically identical to the ones Levo has although she and her twin sister have them only on the left side of their faces.

Levo[]
Beatrix mocked by Levo
Beatrix longed for two things: Levo's favoritism and true power. However, as the second-born, she was overlooked by her father, who favored Zeatrix instead. This resulted in Beatrix harboring resentment towards Levo. One day, Beatrix conspired with Ras, who promised her true power through the capture of a Source Dragon, in order to overthrow Levo. Ras killed Levo by sabotaging his hover chariot, causing it to explode mid-flight. Upon witnessing Levo's demise, Beatrix briefly displayed a sad look before breaking into a smile, knowing that she was now one step closer to becoming Empress. Since then, Beatrix vowed that anyone who opposed her will suffer a similar fate as Levo.
Zeatrix[]
Beatrix trying to ignore her twin sister
Beatrix had a huge amount of hatred and jealousy towards her twin sister, due to her having Elemental Powers and being the next in line to the throne. Beatrix and Ras plotted to kill the former's father and arresting Zeatrix, having the latter exiled from Imperium.
During Operation Mentax, the Loyalists swapped Zeatrix's mind in Beatrix body with the Mind Crystal thereby plunging her into a coma. Beatrix didn't seem to sympathize with her sister, who was in a coma in her place. But the young ninja swapped the minds, and Beatrix fell back into a coma.
Allies
Allies[]
Ras (formerly)[]
Beatrix meeting Ras for the first time
Beatrix and Ras share a long history with one another.
Beatrix met Ras, during his meeting with her father, Levo. During the discussion, Beatrix hears about Ras trying to offer her father the unlimited power of the Source Dragons, but he refuses and has his daughter Zeatrix throw him out. Beatrix then finds Ras in the alley and allies herself with him to conspire to take Levo and take the throne for herself. After Beatrix became the Empress, Ras became the leader of Claws of Imperium with a task of hunting down dragons. However, when Ras fails to stop the ninja from releasing the enslaved dragons, his relationship with Beatrix declined to the point when Beatrix arrested Ras and stripped him off of his position.
Beatrix with Ras
Beatrix sought out Ras' assistance with the MergeQuake weapon, but he attempted to persuade her to release him by reminding her of his crucial role in her rise to Empress. Ras proposed that if they joined forces to eliminate the ninja, Beatrix would gain complete control over the realms. However, to Ras' anger, Beatrix declined his offer and departed.
Dr. LaRow[]
- “Impossible? Those Energy Cores are created from Source Dragons. We have a Source Dragon imprisoned under my city! Are you telling me we don't have the power to finish this weapon?”
- “You know we have not been successful at draining energy from that Source Dragon. And even if we could drain his power, replacing the third Core with pure dragon energy could be even worse than the explosion we just had. It could destroy all of Imperium. I — I won't do it.”
- “You dare defy my order?”
| — Beatrix and Dr. LaRow, "Absolute Power" |
Beatrix and Dr. LaRow
Dr. LaRow serves Beatrix, originally as a scientist and then as a society leader to help her reclaim Imperium.
Before learning about the ninja's arrival in Imperium for Dragon Cores, Dr. LaRow obediently followed Beatrix's instructions. However, upon hearing the news, Beatrix ordered LaRow to drain the Source Dragon's energy to make a new core. But LaRow refused, stating it could destroy the kingdom. Frustrated, Beatrix would later give the task to Jordana, who offered to make a replacement dragon core. Despite this decision, after the democratic reforms to Imperium left her believing that she had been left with nothing, Dr. LaRow decided that she could shackle the worst impulses of her former monarch if the Empress was restored to her throne.
Beatrix and Dr. LaRow in front Imperium
As a result, she renewed her allegiance to Beatrix as seen when Dr. LaRow provided medical care to save Beatrix's life after she escaped the Land of Monsters, and alongside other Loyalists helped Beatrix obtain the Weapon of Desolation to control the Elemental Monsters as part of Beatrix's goal to reclaim the Kingdom of Imperium.
Dorama (formerly)[]
- “That effect better work. Like I'd ever allow grubby, smelly children to actually touch me. Ugh.”
- “It will, I promise.”

Jordana (formerly)[]

Loyalists[]
Beatrix with her Loyalists
The Loyalists are Imperians who continued to serve Beatrix despite her true nature being exposed, finding both fragments of the Weapon of Desolation to help her get back Imperium. Among them included Dr. LaRow, Johnny Courageous, and Sora's parents, who felt like they had nothing when she was overthrown. Despite their loyalty, Beatrix likely only saw the Loyalists as her pawns in her quest for revenge. However, she also expressed that she was proud of them, saying LaRow to remind her to spare the Loyalists who were sabotaging the energy barrier, and acknowledged their persistent allegiance to her. Unfortunately, the Loyalists were dissolved and captured after the Loyalist assault, while Sora's parents escaped without getting noticed.
Elemental Monsters (formerly)[]
After the Loyalists successfully completed the Weapon of Desolation, Beatrix used it to control the Elemental Monsters as her minions to reclaim the Kingdom of Imperium. However, after Lloyd knocked the Weapon of Desolation out of Beatrix's hands, the Elemental Monsters turned against her, with two Earth Monsters blasting her and rendering her unconscious.
Enemies
Enemies[]
Dragons[]
Beatrix hates the Dragons. She thinks are "lesser beings" and treat them like object. With Imperium technology, Beatrix drained the Dragons and uses their energy to power Imperium. With her Mech, she fighted Jiro and Zanth.
Riyu[]
Beatrix wanted to drain Riyu completely. For her, he is nothing more than an object.
Years later, during the Loyalist assault, Beatrix saw Riyu and he stops her.
Ninja[]
Beatrix fighting the ninja
Beatrix harbored an immense level of animosity towards the ninja due to their actions of liberating the captive dragons and repeatedly defeating her, which ultimately led to her feeling humiliated. This drove her to pursue the acquisition of the Dragon Cores, as she believed that utilizing the destructive power of the MergeQuake weapon would result in the annihilation of the ninja. During the final fight with the ninja, Beatrix's fury intensified upon realizing that they had exposed her true nature to her kingdom. Pushed to her breaking point, Beatrix unleashed the MergeQuake weapon, summoning a multitude of MergeQuake rifts to engulf the ninja and Imperians, seemingly ending their lives. However, when one of the rifts ensnared Riyu, Arin instinctively used Object Spinjitzu to damage the Empress Mech, protecting Sora in the process. With Sora subsequently destroying the MergeQuake weapon to shield Arin and Lloyd from Beatrix's wrath, the vengeful Empress prepared to engage the ninja in yet another battle. However, Arin, seeking vengeance for Riyu, forcefully pushed Beatrix into one of rifts. Following the conclusion of the MergeQuake Storm, all those who were engulfed by the rifts reemerge unharmed. After Beatrix returned with the aid of the Loyalists and Elemental Monsters to reclaim the Kingdom of Imperium she tried to get revenge on the ninja again, which ultimately failed.
Rapton (former ally)[]
Beatrix and Rapton
Rapton was one of Beatrix's Claw of Imperium and served her willingly. When she imprisoned Ras for his failure, Rapton was made the new leader of the hunters. He later followed the Ninja to the Temple of the Dragon Cores and told her of the Dragon Cores. After failing to obtain one of the cores, Rapton began to question Beatrix and her plan to use the cores to create a weapon to control the Mergequakes, believing it would destroy the world and ultimate joined Percival Tartigrade's resistance against Beatrix and tried to give her a fake Dragon Core believing she would give up, only for his plan to cause an explosion in the lab. He later aided the Ninja in broadcasting Beatrix's true nature and her abuse of dragons to the entire city.
Citizens of Imperium (former allies)[]
Beatrix speaks to her former people
After taking the throne, Beatrix manipulated the Citizens of Imperium, making them believe that she is the savior of the city, causing them to apply her belief in the inherent evil of dragons. Because of this, Beatrix established the Claws of Imperium, which the citizens saw as the heroes. However, the citizens eventually turned against her after Percival and the ninja exposed her. This led to Beatrix to use the MergeQuake weapon on them, vowing to destroy anyone who dared to oppose her. Thankfully, the ninja were able to stop her and save the Imperians.
While some citizens quickly get used to their new lives and abandoned Beatrix's beliefs, some Imperians believed that Beatrix was right. Eventually, this led to them forming the Loyalists led by Dr. LaRow, aiding Beatrix and finding the fragments of the Weapon of Desolation to help her get back Imperium.
At the start of the Loyalist assault, Beatrix wanted the Citizens of Imperium and Percival to surrender, saying that they will receive mercy. However, the citizens refused to open the doors to her, causing Beatrix to summon the Elemental Monsters and march on the City of Imperium with them and the Loyalists. After they got into the city, some Imperians tried to fight back against Beatrix and her forces with the ninja. Eventually, Beatrix and forces were defeated, freeing Imperium from her once again. After the Loyalist assault, Beatrix was taken to the Imperium Prison, where she was treated for her injuries by some Imperians.
Percival Tartigrade[]
- “Aren't you that boy who once brought me a baby dragon? You dreamt of nothing more than serving me as one of my Claws!”
- “That was a long time ago, when I was brainwashed by your propaganda, but I woke up. All of the people of Imperium woke up. We saw who you really are-- a tyrant who lied about safe energy while running secret dragon-draining chamber!”
- “I drained those disgusting dragons to keep my kingdom prosperous. I hear your "free society" can barely keep the lights on. The lives of Imperium Citizens were perfect when the rightful ruler was on her throne!”
- “You lied, and hurt, and oppressed the people. Our new Imperium has struggles, but we work hard to make our city function independently, without harming other beings!”
| — Beatrix and Percival, "The Heartbeat of all the Realms" |
Once, Percival was a loyal Imperian to Beatrix, wanting to join to the Claws of Imperium to serve the City of Imperium, even bringing her Riyu. However, he then started to get suspicious of the Good Empress and discovered her true nature with the rest of the Imperium Teen Protection Force, eventually exposing her with the help of the ninja and Rapton. This made Beatrix to develop a hatred and grudge against Percival
At the start of the Loyalist assault, Beatrix wanted the Citizens of Imperium and Percival to surrender, saying that they will receive mercy. However, Percival refused this, reminding Beatrix how she killed her father and lied to her people, while also saying that she will be judged for her crimes. This led Beatrix to summon the Elemental Monsters and march to Imperium with them and the Loyalists. Percival tried to stop them with the electro-barrier, but to no avail. After entering the city, Beatrix grabbed Percival, questioning how he seized her power. However, Percival saying that he was elected and they we will be free or perished. Hearing this, Beatrix tried to kill Percival by squeezing him, only for Lloyd to arrive with his Draconus Form, which distracted Beatrix.
