At some point in time after The Merge, Powerlid moved from his realm and into the South Woods, where he established a campsite.

Some time after the Tournament of the Sources, Powerlid's presence became known to the Dragonians of the nearby Storm Village who became wary of his proximity to them. To assess what threat, if any, Powerlid posed, the Dragonians sent out a hunting party to the South Woods investigate the Cyclops. Unfortunately, Powerlid chose to capture and imprison the hunting party within a pit at his campsite, only further instilling fear into the neighboring Dragonians when the hunting party failed to return.

Some time afterwards, Arin and Ras passed through the Storm Village but were driven out towards the South Woods due to the former's mask, which featured horns atop of it, causing the Dragonians to mistake him for an Oni. Arin would then carry Ras atop a sled past the South Woods.

Later, Lloyd, Frak, Sora, and Riyu journeyed to the South Woods in search of Arin after being informed by the Old Lady Dragonians of his last known whereabouts. Unbeknownst to the group of Ninja however, they were followed through the woods by a masked bounty hunter. The Ninja would shortly come into conflict with Powerlid, defeating the Ultimate Cyclops after an intense struggle and rescuing the Dragonian hunting party in the process. Following the Ninja's victory over Powerlid, the bounty hunter revealed himself and silently stole a chalice from the Cyclops' treasure stash before departing.
