Zarkar

Overview

“How could you? The evil you've done to my people!”

Zarkar was an anthropomorphic tiger from the Wyldness, an Elemental Master who competed in and won the Tournament of the Sources, and the ancestor of Ras. After his tribe was attacked by the armies of the Forbidden Five, he was brought to their base as a "souvenir" of Nokt.

History

History[]

Zarkar originates from the Tiger Tribe of the southern region of the Wyldness. At some point, he competed and won in the Tournament of the Sources, which would earn him a portrait in the Temple City Museum's Exhibit of Champions and the reverence of his tribe, as a great champion.

The Final Game (flashback)[]

Zarkar meeting the Forbidden Five after being captured

One day, Wolf Mask Warriors led by Nokt attacked the tribe, which lead to its members either submitting to him or being killed. One of the survivors was Zarkar, whom Nokt decided to take as a souvenir, bringing him to be humiliated in front of the Forbidden Five. Zarkar asked them why they did such a thing to his people, which amused the Five, making them laugh at his suffering and showing no remorse for their actions. Rox approached him and told him that that their wicked deeds were just a show of strength from the Forbidden Five. She warned that the harm done to Zarkar's tribe and the chaos unleashed in the Wyldness would soon be done to all the other realms, leaving the latter emotionally destroyed. As Nokt and his comrades were about to begin their conquest, two dragons arrived, in which a tough battle ensued, leading to the banishment of the Forbidden Five to the Nether-Space.[2] It is unknown what happened to Zarkar during and after the battle. He had at least one child prior to his death.

Other appearances and mentions

Other appearances and mentions[]

Zarkar's history of attending the Tournament of the Sources made him a memorable figure in the history of the Wyldness and the City of Temples. His portrait was placed in the Temple City Museum's Exhibit of Champions.

The Sword Shatters[]

When visiting the Temple City Museum's Exhibit of Champions, Arin saw a portrait of Zarkar and recognized that he was Ras' ancestor.

When Doves Cry[]

While fighting Ras in the Monastery of Spinjitzu, Rontu reminds Ras that he is a warrior from the Tiger Tribe battling without any honor and that even Zarkar himself would be ashamed of his descendant.

Appearance

Appearance[]

Zarkar is a humanoid tiger with black fur and blue-gray stripes all over his body. On the face, these stripes are only in the forehead area and under his light green eyes, which are surrounded by gray fur that resemble eyebrows. He also has gray stripes and nose in addition to four large white fangs protruding from his mouth.

He wore a simple white kimono that left his entire right side exposed. The kimono had gold ornamental trims and was tied with a simple tan cloth. However, it was dirty and torn after the battle with the Wolf Clan.

Trivia

Trivia[]

  • Although his design is very similar to Ras as they are from the same tribe, Zarkar's eyes are light green instead of orange/red and his stripes are a bluish gray/sky blue instead of pink and his forehead's stripe have a slightly different pattern than his descendant. His chin hair is also shorter and isn't braided.
  • His kimono is similar to Ras' in "Absolute Power" when he first came to Imperium, albeit the color is different (white for Zarkar and gray for Ras). This implies that it is the basic clothing of his tribe.
  • His name seems to be a combination of the suffixes of two of the Legends of Chima Tiger Tribe members' names, Ta(zar) and Trak(kar). In-universe, it is possible that they were named partly after Zarkar, given his status as a revered champion, or that "Zar" is simply a common prefix/suffix in the Wyldness, given its presence in Zarkt's name.
  • When asked about Zarkar's Elemental Power, Chris "Doc" Wyatt mentioned that he can't reveal it as of now but he said it would be explored in the show sometime following Season 3.[4]
  • He is the first anthropomorphic tiger shown to be an Elemental Master.
  • He is also the second and only anthropomorphic tiger besides Ras to appear in the show so far.
