Beniro

Beniro is a Formling who lives in the Never Kingdoms and Akita's fiancé. He has the ability to morph between the form of a fox and a human.

History

After the Liberation of the Never-Realm, Beniro met Akita, and they fell in love. Akita shared stories with Beniro about Lloyd and how he saved the Formlings. As time passed, particularly after the Merge, their relationship progressed to the point of engagement.

A Frozen Scar[]

When the ninja arrived at the Monastery of the Never Kingdoms, Akita hurried to reunite with Lloyd, while Beniro followed closely behind. Upon seeing them together, Lloyd felt somewhat devastated upon realizing that Beniro and Akita were now engaged. The ninja needed to venture into the Abyss of Eternal Night to destroy the Weapon of Desolation, but required a guide capable of navigating the terrain by scent. Since Akita had to attend the Summit of the Merged Lands, she proposed that Beniro could help the ninja on their quest. Beniro eagerly accepted the offer, which only served to irritate Lloyd.

The following morning, Beniro transformed into his fox form to lead the group, but as they journeyed, the ninja lost sight of him just before a sudden rockslide obstructed their path. Using Lloyd's scent, Beniro managed to reunite with the team just as it was getting dark. While setting up for the night, Lloyd asked Beniro about the Abyss of Eternal Night. Beniro detailed how it was unintentionally created by the First Spinjitzu Master when he destroyed a cursed thorn embedded in the paw of the First Master of Form. He also shared how the Master of Form had bestowed her shapeshifting abilities upon the Formlings, who the First Spinjitzu Master subsequently forbade from approaching the Abyss. Grateful for Beniro's willingness to defy his tribe's beliefs to help the ninja, Lloyd thanked him. Beniro affirmed that he would do anything for Akita, but when Lloyd echoed that sentiment, Beniro turned away, unsettled.

The following day, Beniro and the ninja made their way to the Boreal River. Due to the deteriorating condition of the containment unit for the Weapon of Desolation, they needed to traverse the river swiftly to reach their destination. However, Beniro was apprehensive about the corrupted ice, so he joined the ninja in the Land Bounty, where he engaged in conversation with Lloyd. Despite Beniro's attempts to connect, Lloyd attempted to cut the discussion short, concentrating instead on the task of crossing the river. Sensing the tension, Beniro quickly apologized, worried that he had offended Lloyd. Just as Lloyd was about to consult with Beniro, the Weapon of Desolation suddenly activated, corrupting Beniro as he transformed into a feral version of his fox form.

He seized the weapon and rushed outside, where he hurled it into the ice of the river. This unleashed a horde of Ice Monsters that attacked the ninja. Zane struggled to grab the weapon just as Beniro charged at him. Just then, Zilvar and Grimtak intervened, pushing Beniro back, but he quickly shifted his focus to Lloyd. Lloyd managed to pin Beniro down, allowing Zilvar to secure the Weapon of Desolation. Lloyd urged Beniro to remember Akita, which helped him break free from the corruption and revert to his human form. Beniro apologized to the ninja, stating he could no longer join their quest. He handed them a map to the Abyss and prepared to return to the monastery, waiting for Akita. Beniro explained that while Akita was the love of his life, he doubted his feelings were reciprocated, as their tribe would always take precedence. He noted a similarity between Lloyd and Akita in that regard before leaving.
