Overview
The Weapon of Desolation is a powerful and dangerous scepter capable of affecting, damaging, manipulating, and even corrupting Elemental Powers by controlling Source Energy.
Millennia ago, it was discarded and split into two fragments that resembled glowing wood corkscrews through a spell created by the First Spinjitzu Master with the intention of preventing its power from being used. These fragments were hidden by him in two different locations: the red fragment within the Tree of Burdens and the yellow fragment within the Tree of Madness. After that, he hid the tablet that had the spell carved on it in the Land of Eternal Dawn.
As a result of the Battle of the Spectral Lands, the Weapon’s energy spread across the Merged Lands, creating Elemental Monsters that rampaged throughout the lands. The Loyalists then planned to find and recombine the two pieces of the weapon using the spell from the tablet Dr. LaRow had previously found in the Land of Eternal Dawn in order to control the Elemental Monsters. The weapon was therefore used by Beatrix Vespasian-Orus to lead an army of Elemental Monsters in an assault to reclaim control of the City of Imperium, which ultimately failed when the ninja retrieved the weapon and disabled it.
History
History[]
Background[]
The Weapon of Desolation was created long ago for reasons unknown, tied to the very creation of the realms.[1] It was later divided into two parts by the First Spinjitzu Master, who used an incantation he inscribed on the Tablet of Desolation. He then concealed both halves in two distinct locations: the yellow fragment in the Tree of Madness at the Realm of Madness, and the red fragment in the Tree of Burdens at Umbrasilvis.[2]
Millennia later, Dr. LaRow would eventually learn about the Weapon of Desolation's existence when she discovered the tablet in the Land of Eternal Dawn following Beatrix's defeat. The withdrawal of half the Source Dragons from the Council of Sources caused the two fragments of the Weapon of Desolation to conjure Elemental Monsters throughout the Merged Lands.[2]
Just Under the Surface[]
The Lead Loyalist obtaining the yellow fragment from the Tree of Madness.
After founding the Tree of Madness with the other Loyalists, the Lead Loyalist scanned the tree to see one of the fragments is there. After putting her hand in the tree's core, she got the fragment, which the other Loyalists cheered about. When the ninja accidentally revealed themselves, the Lead Loyalist tried to escape with the weapon piece, only for Kai to touch it and release a big explosion, which caused her to drop the fragment. Fortunately, she still escaped with the yellow fragment alongside the other Loyalists.
The Grand Inquisition[]
The red fragment causing Frak's powers to go haywire.
As the ninja escaped from the cave, they saw Loyalists escaping with the yellow fragment.
While Sora and Frak were hiding near the Tree of Burdens, a Loyalist arrived, scanning the tree and retrieved the red fragment from the Weapon of Desolation. However, Frak's sudden interference startled the Loyalist, prompting him to flee in haste. Reginald leaped onto the Loyalist, unmasking him as Johnny and causing the fragment to fall from his grasp. Seizing the opportunity, Frak caught the fragment, which surged with Source Energy, resulting in a powerful Quake that reverberated through the surroundings. Reginald carefully took the fragment from Frak, wrapping it in a handkerchief he had received from the Pontifex Magicus. He then gave it to Sora, despite hesitating a little bit.
Later, the two made their way to the Inquisition, presenting the red fragment to the Grand Inquisitor as evidence of Johnny's wrongdoing. However, as the Grand Inquisitor grabbed the fragment, he declared that the next course of action was to deliver it to Beatrix, a revelation that left everyone in shock as he unveiled his allegiance to the Loyalists. As the ninja charged towards him, Johnny activated a concealed button on the Inquisitor's cane, releasing a cloud of smoke that allowed both of them to escape.
Dying to Live[]
The Loyalists putting the Weapon of Desolation back together.
While LaRow and Beatrix discussed the Tablet of Desolation, the Lead Loyalist and two others approached, presenting them with the yellow fragment of the Weapon of Desolation. After dismissing her, LaRow handed the fragment to Beatrix, who examined it.
Subsequently, the Loyalists placed the fragment into a force field chamber. However, Cole managed to escape and battled the Loyalists. During the fight, he hurled one of the Loyalists into the force field chamber, resulting in a malfunction that caused the fragment to fall out. Cole seized the fragment, which enhanced his golem form, and continued to battle the Loyalists. However, Beatrix soon intervened, defeating Cole and reclaiming the fragment, which subsequently destroyed his golem exoskeleton. Later, the Grand Inquisitor and two other Loyalists arrived with the red fragment. The Loyalists held both fragments while Dr. LaRow recited the incantations from the tablet, causing the fragments to float and ultimately combine into the Weapon of Desolation. With the weapon now reassembled, Beatrix declared her intent to lead them to glory.
The Heartbeat of all the Realms[]
The Weapon of Desolation enhancing Cole's golem form.
Beatrix used the Weapon of Desolation to summon the Elemental Monsters, which marched toward the City of Imperium. Despite Lloyd’s completion of the Ritual of Unrooting, the weapon's manipulation of imbalanced Source Energy caused the Whispering Wood and its creatures to continue withering. Determined to restore life to the Wood, Lloyd planned to deactivate the weapon. Meanwhile, Cole managed to break free from his restraints and reached out to the Weapon of Desolation, channeling its power to restore his enhanced Golem form. He attempted to confront Beatrix, but she commanded the Elemental Monsters to attack him and the ninja as they advanced on the city.
Birthright[]
Beatrix using the Weapon of Desolation
Lloyd and Beatrix fought over the Weapon of Desolation. Lloyd managed to knock the weapon from Beatrix's grasp, but she reclaimed it. Despite Lloyd's warnings about the weapon's potential, Beatrix was confident in her understanding of its power. Using his Draconus Form, Lloyd effortlessly defeated countless Elemental Monsters. Recognizing the strength of Lloyd's transformation, Beatrix used the Weapon of Desolation to amplify two Earth Monsters and a Mutation Monster, enhancing their size and power. However, as she continued to use the weapon, it began to exert its influence over her, leaving Dr. LaRow and the Loyalists astonished by its overwhelming capabilities. LaRow questioned whether Beatrix was still in control.
Beatrix further empowered the Elemental Monsters, which soon began to overpower the ninja. Lloyd activated Nya, Kai, Jay, and Zane's own Draconus Forms to turn the tide of battle, enabling them to battle the monsters. Lloyd knocked the Weapon of Desolation from Beatrix's hands, which caused the Elemental Monsters to turn against her. Arin retrieved the weapon with Euphrasia's help and recited the incantation to deactivate it. As a result, the Elemental Monsters were sealed away within the scepter, ultimately saving the Whispering Wood. Following the arrest of Beatrix and several Loyalists, the ninja interrogated Dr. LaRow about the Weapon.

Other appearances[]
The Whispering Wood[]
During the meeting with the Loyalists, the Chief Loyalist presented a hologram of the Weapon of Desolation, elucidating its connection to the Elemental Monsters. She explained that these creatures emerged from the imbalance of Source Energy associated with the weapon. Following the explanation, she urged them to trace back the Elemental Monsters to find the weapon's location.
Tonight We Hunt Monsters[]
The Loyalists were having difficulty locating the Weapon of Desolation. The Chief Loyalist reprimanded them, projecting a hologram of the weapon and emphasizing that it should emit significant energy whenever it summoned an Elemental Monster, energy that should be detectable. The Chief Loyalist then approached the hologram of the Weapon of Desolation, determined to find it and use its power to create Elemental Monsters for their own use.
Seed and Soil[]
Following the Mutation Monster's disappearance, a Loyalist contacted the Chief Loyalist to inform her of the whereabouts of the Weapon of Desolation. He subsequently transmitted the relevant data. Seeing this, the Chief Loyalist, unmasking herself as Dr. LaRow, informed Beatrix that the weapon had been divided into two parts. However, she assured Beatrix that they would successfully reunite the pieces, a promise that instilled determination in Beatrix.
