Possession, also referred as spirit possession[2] is an ability which consists of taking control over another being or object. It can be accomplished through many ways such as through magic, Darkness and the powers of Ghosts.

Legacy of the Green Ninja[]

Upon announcing his treachery to Garmadon, the Overlord disclosed that he had been manipulating Garmadon to facilitate his plan to conquer Ninjago. He then possessed Garmadon's body, transforming it into a dragon, thereby allowing the Overlord to reclaim his original form.

Rebooted[]

As a virus, the Overlord initially possessed the artificial limbs to serve as his body, much to his frustration.

In a later encounter, the Overlord took control of a Nindroid Warrior to speak with Zane, disclosing that he had diverted the attention of the ninja during the assault of the Nindroid Army on the Serpentine, thereby allowing him to seize Lloyd. Subsequently, the Overlord possessed the Nindroid MechDragon as he confronted Lloyd at Hiroshi's Labyrinth.

Possession[]

Morro possessed a security guard at the Ninjago Museum of History and lured Lloyd there in order to possess him. As a result, the other Ninja lost their Elemental Powers. Lloyd would remained possessed by Morro throughout most of the season, but was finally freed when Morro possessed Ronin in order to lure the Ninja into a trap at the Caves of Despair. Morro later left Lloyd's body for good in order to hold him hostage so the Ninja would give him the Realm Crystal.

Wrayth took control of a normal motorcycle and turned it into a Chain Cycle. Attacking the ninja at a train station, Cole made Wrayth fall off of his bike, turning it back into a motorcycle.

In the Samurai X cave, Ghoultar took control of the Samurai Mech for Morro. In the Cloud Kingdom, Soul Archer and Bansha took over a Cloud Kingdom skiff, turning it into a Ghost ship.

Bansha utilized special form to possess Misako, who she used to effectively fight Master Wu on the waters of the Tomb of the First Spinjitzu Master. Later when she contacted Morro, she allowed Morro to possess her to speak with Wu.

After becoming a ghost, Cole struggled with his new abilities but manage to possess a giant piece of snow and created a snow body to save the other Ninja. He later possessed the Ice Mech to make up for lost ground. Later in the Cloud Kingdom, when the Ninja were trapped with Nimbus, Cole accidentally phases out and through a keyhole Jay suggested to Cole to unlock the door by going into the key, which allowed the Ninja to escape.

Skybound[]

After Nadakhan achieves infinite wishes, he wished for Delara to return to life, her spirit takes over Nya's body. When Flintlocke hit Delara and Nadakhan with the Tiger Widow Venom is weakened Nadakhan's power so Nya returned to her body fatally injured.

Day of the Departed[]

On the Day of the Departed, Yang used the catalyzed magic of the Yin-Yang Eclipse to enhance the Yin Blade, tricking Cole into using its abilities to cut a rift from the Departed Realm to Ninjago for him to return. Using the Yin Blade's magic, Yang was able to bring back the souls of Samukai, Kozu, Cryptor, Chen, Morro, two Stone Swordsmen, two Stone Scouts, three Nindroid Warriors, Eyezor, and Zugu from the Departed Realm, placing their spirits in statues modeled after their original bodies.

Amber Spiral[]

The Original Master of Amber was trying to escape from the Urn of Enmity using Skylor's body, but was defeated and sent to the Departed Realm.

Master of the Mountain[]

Centuries after his death, Hazza D'ur managed to preserve his spirit by possessing his skull. The skull, and Hazza D'ur's spirit, would be utilized by Vangelis until the skull's destruction at the hands of Cole releasing Hazza D'ur's spirit to the Departed Realm.

Dragons Rising, Season 2[]

During the Ritual of the Blood Moon, Rox separated her soul from her body, before the Nether-Space portal closed, which landed in the nearest form she could find, Jordana. After Rox's soul was released from Nether-Space, she took possession of Jordana and continued to do so throughout the Tournament of the Sources. Jordana was able to fight through the possession, as seen when she helped out Sora by giving her a note revealing the location of the Crown of Horns. Rox stopped her possession after the final game to go to the Monastery of Gates with her brother, Nokt to release the rest of the Forbidden Five, which caused Rox's body to fall and force her soul back to her.

  • Possession takes a physical toll on the victim's body, as seen in multiple cases such as Season 5: Possession, when Lloyd is left extremely weakened after Morro left his body to the point he's unable to swim and in Dragons Rising Season 2, when Rox leaves Jordana, it takes a while for the latter to recover.
  • Nya's alternate face in 70627 Dragon's Forge resembles Delara possessing Nya.
