Spinjitzu Burst

History[]

Several years before Master of the Mountain[]

At some point in time, the Spinjitzu Burst came into existence by becoming a martial art that would allow an Elemental Master to perform a powerful form of Spinjitzu by being surrounded by their Elemental Power.^[1] However, as time passed, the way how the martial art can be used began to be known only by Earth Elementals.^[2] Years later, Lilly visited Shintaro Mountain and learned the Spinjitzu Burst, using this power to destroy Grief-Bringer and freed the Geckles and Munce from terror.^[3]

The Son of Lilly[]

While Cole was being blasted by the Skull of Hazza D'ur, he remembered the promise he made to his mother to stand up for what is right. This allowed him to finally unlock the Spinjitzu Burst. The Skull Sorcerer was shocked and threw the skull at Cole to stop him, but the Master of Earth used the Burst to suck in the skull instead and destroy it, causing the Re-Awakened and Grief-Bringer to revert back to bones and Vangelis to lose the source of his Dark Magic.

Masters Never Quit[]

At the Heart of the Mountain, Wu recognized that the temple contained the teachings of the Spinjitzu Burst and explained the martial art to the others, saying that it can used by any Elemental Masters while its teachings were only known to Earth Elementals. Cole soon discovered that his mother once performed the Burst to defeat Grief-Bringer.

After hearing this, Vania suggested to Cole that he should used the Spinjitzu Burst to defeat Vangelis and free the Munce and Geckles. Cole, however, doubted his mother even performing the Burst, saying that the Blades of Deliverance could've been the reason why she won her battle with Grief-Bringer. After Wu noted that the Spinjitzu Burst is the only option, the Earth Ninja tried to do it but failed, ending up doing normal Spinjitzu instead.

Abilities[]

• Energy Tornado Generation: The Spinjitzu Burst grants the user the ability to create a tornado of energy and color around themselves while spinning. The user is under a small elemental fire in the ground and their eyes glow depending on the their energy signature. Then, they smash the ground, allowing quick perception and the ability to attract or repel opponents.
  • Vacuum Effect: The Spinjitzu Burst can be used to suck objects into the Spinjitzu vortex to be thrown away and/or crushed.
  • Flight: While inside the Spinjitzu Burst, the user is able to fly inside it.
  • Throwing opponents: The user is able to throw opponents outside of the Spinjitzu Burst, but it could result in them being smashed. When Cole summoned the Spinjitzu Burst, Vangelis was knocked away but the Skull of Hazza D'ur was sucked in.
    • Shockwave Generation: When the Spinitzu Burst is summoned, it produces a large shockwave powerful enough to weaken opponents.^[4]
    • Enhanced combat: The Spinjitzu Burst is very effective bare-handed, as Cole was able to throw the Skull of Hazza D'ur downward.

Weaknesses[]

• Fatigue: Spinjitzu Burst can take a massive toll on the user, requiring much energy to sustain as seen when Cole collapsed after using the technique.

Types of Spinjitzu Burst[]

• Earth - used by Lilly and Cole
• Fire - used by Kai (only in sets)
• Energy - used by Lloyd Garmadon (only in sets)

Trivia[]

• This is the fourth martial art that the ninja learned, the first three being Spinjitzu, Airjitzu, and Forbidden Spinjitzu.
  • However, this is the first martial art that only one of the ninja learn and used.
• It was first revealed in the official Play Guide of Choose the Path, that Cole would unlock Spinjitzu Burst while leading the Upply.
• Lilly and Cole are the only known Elemental Masters to use this martial art. Wu stated in "Masters Never Quit" that "only an Elemental Master surrounded by his Element can achieve it."
  • On The TTV Channel's Ninjagocast #41, a fan theorized that Nya's True Potential was Spinjitzu Burst due to its similar appearance and Nya being surrounded by her element, Water. Tommy Andreasen responded in the live-chat that this "has just gotten us all to reconsider that whole thing."^[5] If this really was Nya's Spinjitzu Burst, it would mean an Elemental Master does not have to know Spinjitzu to use the ability.
  • Regarding what Griffin Turner (Master of Speed)'s Spinjitzu Burst could be, Tommy Andreasen joked that he "would need to be at the Daytona 500?"^[6]
  • In The Book of Elemental Powers, it was confirmed that the reason the Spinjitzu Burst is only known to Earth Elementals is because its teachings were forgotten by the other Elemental Masters sometime after it was made.
  • When Lloyd was boosted by the Matriarch's dragon energy, his giant Spinjitzu tornado resembled the Spinjitzu Burst, though this was just a coincidence as it has no relation to the ability.^[7]
  • According to Chris "Doc" Wyatt, Elemental Masters with the following elements could use Spinjitzu Burst in the following environments:
    • Heat: close to the Sun.^[8]
    • Technology: in a very technological city.^[8]
    • Metal: in a metal building such as the Iron Castle of Metalonia.^[9]
    • Shadow: in a very dark place such as "the Shadow Keep".^[9]
    • Poison: in a room full of poison gas.^[9]
      • Another possible environment could be the foggy desert in the Wyldness.
    • Sound: in a place with a lot of noise, similar to a Megadeth concert.^[10]
    • Energy: in the Whispering Wood.^[11]
    • Golden Power: in the Golden Peaks or the Grasslands.^[11]
• Despite the martial art being mentioned in some of the earliest teachings of Spinjitzu, Lilly was the first Elemental Master to perform the technique.^[12]
• Even though the Spinjitzu Burst is a powerful technique, it cannot counter Shatterspin, because that is not its purpose, unlike Rising Dragon Technique.^[13][14]
