The Black Cloud

The Black Cloud is the eighteenth episode of the first season of Legends of Chima.

Plot

Plot[]

Cragger is dreaming of his parents and finds Crominus and Crunket again in the Gorge of Eternal Depth at the Fangs, he shows them the Pledge of the Pack and asks them how he can get them out when Crominus, really Crug in the real world, wakes up Cragger to tell him that a mysterious black cloud is hovering around Mount Cavora and hopes the Lions aren't behind at the same time the Lions see this and Laval hopes this isn't the Crocodiles. The Eagles swoop in to help but the Black Cloud attacks them and Eris spots ShadoWind in the forest below also with the Black Cloud on him, after crash landing she tells Laval that she isn't sure if ShadoWind is leading the cloud or is also being attacked, but Laval hopes it's not the former, Cragger, Crawley and Crug eavesdrop in a nearby bush and realize the Lions are just as confused as they are and Cragger is intrigued about the ShadoWind thing and that's when Crug tells Cragger that he was the one that gave Laval the Pledge of the Pack in the first place.

Laval is searching for whatever made a sound when Cragger asks Crug how he knew ShadoWind gave Laval the Pledge of the Pack and Crawley said that Plovar told them while he was cleaning their teeth which made Cragger mad because they used Plovar for their teeth instead of him but Crawley and Crug remind him that he was the one that told Plovar angrily to leave and that he wasn't using him to which Cragger had enough and tossed the two into the air which Laval and Eris were oblivious too. In the Interceptor Jet, Laval and Eris ride up to Mount Cavora where it's revealed that an energy barrier is what keeps Mount Cavora floating and that even if you could get inside, there is a legend that says if you go inside you'll burst into flames, the two then get as close as they can to Mount Cavora but are blown back by the energy barrier and land in the Gorilla Forest to which Gorzan notices them. Cragger, Crawley and Crug then make it up the Spiral Mountain where they meet with Plovar and Cragger demands to know how he got the Pledge of the Pack from ShadoWind from his parents, Plovar says he will tell him but only on one condition, and that is Cragger has to serve him after he trimmed off his feathers.

The Black Cloud swoops in at the Bear Caves and takes Bladvic away, he is dropped off with the Rhinos after the cloud took their CHI which confused the Rhinos. At the Raven Town, Razcal is flabbergasted when Razar suggests they part some of the Black Cloud in a jar and sell it, he asks if what they are trying to do will even work and Razar tells him it doesn't matter as long as they can sell it, the two then make their way to the cloud when they are sucked in and thrown out of their Raiders. Laval and Eris are making another attempt at Mount Cavora when they see the Black Cloud spitting at the two Raiders with Razar and Razcal going to them, ShadoWind then appears again and the Cloud is following him, Laval thinks he is being attacked while Eris thinks he is leading it and so they follow ShadoWind, they lose him in the jungle and are about to slam into a tree when Eris pulls up and goes out over the tree. Meanwhile Plovar is still making Cragger serve by giving him a back massage and then has him bite into a Bitterbarb tree so he can peck the tasty sap off of his teeth, Cragger grows increasingly frustrated but goes through with it so Plovar can take him to his parents.

Laval and Eris then spot ShadoWind's Speedor tracks and determine that he made it across the river into the Outlands, Eris says no one goes over there but Laval tells her that Skinnet was there and now apparently ShadoWind. Cragger is also at the same river where he is finally fed up with Plovar after he demanding Cragger apologize to his tail feathers, Cragger just cuts them off again and Plovar then flies inside Cragger's mouth and intends to stay until his feathers grow back or when Cragger isn't so angry anymore. Laval and Eris then meet with them and asks what's going on when Plovar speaks for Cragger, but the latter has Crawley punch him out and Cragger asks what Laval and Eris are doing there to which they are looking for ShadoWind, Cragger tells them he is also looking for him and asks Laval how ShadoWind got the Pledge from his parents, but Laval says he doesn't know yet but plans to cross into the Outlands to find out, Plovar then buts in and tells Cragger he was gonna show him there but he rolls back on this saying he actually doesn't know where ShadoWind lives in the Outlands, he only knows about this from Skinnet and claims that is enough to know ShadoWind, an angry Cragger then punches Plovar all the way back into the forest done with him.

Cragger then orders Crawley and Crug to cross over to the other side of the creek to the Outlands but Laval warns them saying the ground there is toxic and there is no knowing if it's safe, but Cragger tells him that the difference between him and the Lions is that the Crocs don't go whining about danger, but Crawley and Crug immediately counteracts this when they whine to Cragger asking if they have to cross to which he tells them yes they have to, they make it to the other side and cross into the Outlands, Crawley asks Crug if he can see anything, he says he sees a smiling plant and that it seems to have teeth which Crawley notes is not normal for plants and the two then get eaten, when Crawley realizes they are in its stomach the plants spit them back out of the Outlands to the other side of the creek, the two beg no more but Cragger orders them back in as no salad plant is going to stop them from reaching ShadoWind.

The Black Cloud attacks again but this time it appears bigger and nastier, they realize it's heading back to Mount Cavora and Laval and Eris leave but not before asking Cragger if he is coming, he says the cloud is not his business but Laval tells them that he wants to help Cragger find his parents, but in order to do that he needs to come back and help fight off this cloud as without Mount Cavora, this is no CHI and no CHI means no Chima and no home for Cragger to bring his parents back to, he reluctantly agrees and heads to the Lion Temple with Laval and Eris. At the Lion Temple, Laval suggests they shoot down the Black Cloud, Lagravis asks if that's even possible but Laval notes that the cloud seems to be alive and anything that is alive can be attacked, but Lagravis asks if they even have enough firepower to shoot at the cloud to which Laval says he called on some old friends, the Crocodiles, Wolves and Ravens but also had the Gorillas, Bears and Rhinos show up so that if conflict does arise they can hold anyone back.

Laval then goes to the top of the steps and announces to the tribes that when he lets out a Lion roar, that is their cue to start blasting at the Black Cloud, so he uses a CHI orb to power up and then lets out his Lion roar, signaling to the tribes to begin attack, Razar kicks the jar he had yelling at the cloud for ruining his business plan, Laval then joins in on a Lion buggy and starts blasting as well, he orders then to keep blasting so they can get the Black Cloud to leave and never come back, they are successful in driving the Black Cloud away and Lagravis declares their victory. The tribes then begin celebrating their victory but unsuspectingly, the falls of Mount Cavora stop coming down, Crug notices this but asks if Mount Cavora was supposed to have more falls but he thinks he miscounted unaware that the falls have stopped.

  • This is the first episode where the Outlands tribes make an appearance.

Continuity[]

  • This is the first time that the legend about how touching Mount Cavora will cause one to burst into flames is brought up. It would be mentioned again in The Call of Cavora.
  • Although they are inside the Black Cloud, this episode marks the first appearance of the Bats.
