Bats are winged mammals from Ninjago and Chima.

History

History[]

Legends of Chima, Season 1[]

Along with scorpions and spiders, the bats of Chi initially thrived as ordinary cave-dwelling creatures in the Gorge of Eternal Depth. To keep the Chi belonging to the Crocodile Tribe from falling into their hands, Laval dropped it into the gorge. Unfortunately for Crominus and Crunket, the bats and arachnids were quicker to reach the Chi, which led them to evolve into animal tribes, with the Bats emerging under the leadership of Braptor. Driven by an unquenchable thirst for more Chi, the Crawlers captured Crominus and Crunket, compelling them locate the Chi's source. This took them into the Outlands, where Crominus and Crunket pointed out Mount Cavora. The sight of the mountain captivated the Crawlers, igniting their desire to claim all the Chi for themselves. Seizing the moment, Crominus and Crunket attempted to escape, but the Bat Tribe united to form a massive cloud, launching an attack that resulted in Crominus' capture.[1] At one point, the Bat Tribe even plotted to abduct Skinnet and deliver him to Scorm, but ShadoWind intervened just in time to save him.[2]

As the Crawlers devised their plan to monopolize the Chi, the Bat Tribe formed the Black Cloud, transporting the Spiders to Mount Cavora to bypass its protective energy field and seize the Chi. Meanwhile, Laval, unaware of the Crawlers' true nature, rallied the Tribes of Chima at the Lion City to defend against the Bats. Faced with overwhelming resistance, the Spider Tribe resorted to blocking the chifalls of Mount Cavora with their webs, ensuring the Chi would be secured for future harvesting as they retreated alongside the bats.[3][4]

Legends of Chima, Season 2[]

After the Heroes of Chima passed the Predator Plants, the Bat Tribe spotted and attacked them, chasing them through the Outlands. Despite the heroes attempts to get rid of them by making them hit obstacles, the Bat Tribe continued to chase them, eventually cornering them in a dean end. However, Rogon came out from the other side of the dead end with his Rock'n Rollin Rogon Roller, hitting the Bats with rocks, defeating them in the process.[1]

Later, the Bat Tribe went back to Mount Cavora with the Spiders to steal more Chi, leaving Spiders there to steal Chi. However, during this, they encountered the Tribes of Chima, who tried to fend them off. Despite the Bat Tribe's attempts to escape with the stolen Chi, the tribes took down their Bat Flyers, stopping them from getting away. After the Tribes of Chima got more Chi thanks to the Crocodile Tribe, they used it against the remaining Bat Tribe, causing them to retreat from Mount Cavora.[4]

When the Heroes of Chima went to the Scorpion Cave to save the Gorilla Tribe from the venom of the Scorpions, they were attacked by the Bat Tribe. Thankfully, they were able to fend them off.[5]

One day, while the Bat Tribe were carrying Chi in the Outlands, they got hit by Rogon's and his Rock'n Rollin Rogon Roller. Furious, they chased him to a mountain. However, the moment they tried to jump on him, Rogon started sharpening his "pillow" by using his bike, which knocked out the Bats, putting them to sleep. Seeing this, Rogon joined them as well.[6]

Following the release of the Raven Legend Beast, Braptor, the leader of the Bat Tribe, commanded his troops to attack the Eagle Spires. Seeing this, Razar stayed behind with his Legend Beast to protect the village, as Eris and Laval decided to go into the Outlands and bring down the Cave of the Bats with a Chi explosion. However, the moment they arrived in the Outlands, they got ambushed by Braptor and Blista, who stole the heroes' Chi and captured Laval, sending them down through a chasm, forcing Eris to choose between them. Later, when Braptor was taking his afternoon nap in the Cave of the Bats, Laval and Eris arrived, with Eris pretending to have captured Laval and offering her to Braptor in exchange of four Chi orbs. However, after the Bats gave them the Chi orbs, Eris used the Chi for herself and leaved the cave with Laval to help the Beaver Tribe. After recovering the Ultra Striker from the Beaver Dam, the heroes returned back to the Eagle Spires and used the Ultra Striker against the Bat Trib, causing them to retreat.[7]

After Scorm told them that the Speedor wheel is made out of Tribe Stone, the Bat and Spider Tribe returned back to Mount Cavora and chip off the mountain's Tribe Stone.[8] Later, they went to the Scorpion Cave and started to make their own Speedorz with the rest of the Crawlers. Meanwhile, some of the Bats captured the Bear Legend Beast and the Eagle Legend Beast's eggs when she tried to intervene, putting both of them on a seesaw trap. After the heroes saved the Bear Legend Beast and the eggs, Lavertus was about to pick up Laval with the WindShadow, only for the Bat Tribe to arrive with their Bat Flyers and cut off the rope, forcing Lavertus to drop off Defendor XII for Laval. As Lavertus fend off the Bat Flyers, some of the Crawlers ambushed Laval with their new Speedorz, including the Bats, and chased him through the Outlands, only to hit obstacles. During the chase, some of the Bat Tribe got ahead of Laval and tried to ram him, only for Laval to leave their quickly, causing the Bats to crash into each other while the rest of them hit rocks. However, the Crawlers were still able to corner Laval, with some of them even capturing Bladvic and the Bear Legend Beast, including a Bat. Fortunately, Bladvic were able to scare some of them off by using Chi.[9]

Because of Scorm thinking that they could crush their enemies if they gather their forces and make the heroes come to the Scorpion Cave,[9] Bat Tribe went to the caves with the rest of the Crawlers while taking Crominus and the Wolf Legend Beast with them. On their way to the cave, they spotted Worriz and Cragger and captured them, taking heroes to the cave. In the cave, while the Crawlers were preparing for their final attack, Scorm and Spinlyn started to argue about who really dropped the Chi onto the gorge. Braptor tried to stop them, only to accidentally get stung and get webbed. Seeing this, Cragger got an idea to make them destroy each other.[10]

Meanwhile, the Heroes of Chima arrived in the entrance of the Scorpion Cave and noticed the guards. Thankfully, with the help of Rogon, they were able to distract the Crawlers and get back their Chi, using them to overpower their foes and allowing them to enter the cave. In the cave, the heroes entered the rest of the Crawlers. Thankfully, they were able to get past them and save their friends. However, the Crawlers overpowered them with their vehicles and weapons causing the heroes to take shelter. Seeing this, Cragger told them Laval was the one who dropped the Chi to the gorge, saying that they should build the statue of the Great Lion. However, the Crawlers did not believe him and continued to attack, even trying to shoot Laval while he tried to go and save the Lion Legend Beast.[10] As the fight in the Scorpion Cave continued, the Bat Tribe continued fight off against the heroes. However, Scorm blasted the ceiling of the cave with the Korrodor to stop the heroes from leaving, causing the cave to start collapsing, trapping all of the Bats and Crawlers to get trapped in the Scorpion Cave.[11] However, some of the Bat Tribe were able to get out of the cave and went to the Outland Base, using the place as their new home.[12]

Days later, when Laval and Skinnet went to the Outland Base to find Lavertus' "unfinished business", Laval noticed the weapons of the Bat Tribe and encountered them. Still angry at Laval, the Bat Tribe attacked him. Thankfully, Laval was able to get rid of them with the help of Sir Kicks-a-Lot.[12]

Legends of Chima, Season 3[]

After the Scorpions accidentally released the Hunters, the Bat Tribe got frozen by them with the rest of the Crawlers. Later, when the Hunters returned to the Hunter Glacier, the Spider and the rest of the Crawlers were put into Fangar's trophy room as a part of his collection.[13]

When Flinx tried to use his heat to release the imprisoned inhabitants of Chima, he accidentally released the Crawlers, including the Bat Tribe, too. Still angry at the heroes for imprisoning them at the Scorpion Cave, the Crawlers attacked them. Thankfully, they were overpowered by Crominus, Crunket, and Lagravis. As the heroes attempted to leave the trophy room, the Crawlers tried to follow them, only for Flinx to use his heat again to melt the floor and send them down a hole. Thankfully, by using her webs, Spinlyn was able to save the Crawlers.[14]

Following the Second Great Illumination, the Bats and the rest of the Crawlers reformed themselves and started living in peace with the inhabitants of Chima, even decorating the tree with the Eagles and Plovar during the holiday celebrations.[15]
