Chima is a floating island within the Wyldness.[5] It is primarily covered in jungles, mountains, and swamps, which are inhabited by various species of anthropomorphic animals.
History
History[]
Prior to the series[]
At an unknown point in time, Chima came into existence alongside the rest of the Wyldness. At some point Drix was born there.[1] At one point, the Forbidden Five would attack Chima, wiping out certain tribes during their conquest of the Wyldness.[6]
While Morro and Lloyd traversed dimensions during their battle for the Realm Crystal, they landed atop Chima's Spiral Mountain where Laval, Cragger, and their friends were sitting. Laval inquired what they were doing there, but Morro ushered them away to another realm before the two could reply.
Between seasons[]
Chima, along with the rest of the Wyldness, was presumably attacked by the Oni, with all the inhabitants being petrified. However the effects reversed when the ninja defeated the Oni in Ninjago.
While trying to reach the ninja in the Never-Realm, Wu and P.I.X.A.L. open a portal to Chima, unleashing a group of Beavers on them. They return to their home realm after P.I.X.A.L distracts them with a broken broom they want to fix.
Chima is a massive, floating island hovering above the Wyldness. It is mostly comprised of jungles, swamps, and a few deserts. Chima is generally a warm and tropical place, with ice and snow being considered a phenomenon due to the warm climate.
In the middle of Chima is a floating mountain known as Mount Cavora, which is the source of Chi, liquid energy that can be harnessed for a near-infinite amount of different uses. In the skies is the Mother Sun, a mysterious being whose actions led to the creation of the land. Located near a lake is a stone known as the Forever Rock, a former hiding place for one of the Fire Harnesses and above an entrance to one of the other realms.[8]

LEGO.com description[]
One of the 16 parallel realms connected to the NINJAGO world, Chima is a world filled with intelligent, talking animals capable of walking on two legs. The various tribes have access to a surprisingly high level of technology and rely on a power source called CHI. It was the site of an epic battle between two alliances over the control of CHI, until other threats forced the warring sides to make peace and work together.[9]
You can help the wiki by organizing the following information chronologically based on how the information applies to the series.
This template can be removed once the section has been organized.
The Mother Sun is similar to The Preeminent in that both are female deities that have an apparent control over their respective realms and are masters of a large group of beings with unique, distinct powers. Additionally, neither The Preeminent nor Mother Sun is seen talking within the show.
It is unknown if the Source Dragon of Motion and the Mother Sun are the same being, as they are both the source for the elemental power of Fire and are a god-like entities from the same universe.
The footage of Chima seen in "Curseworld, Part II" is edited stock footage from "Ravens vs. Eagles," the fifteenth episode of Legends of Chima's first season. In the Ninjago version, Laval and Cragger stop moving after Laval says "Where'd you guys come from?", while in the original episode, Laval and Cragger have more lines directly after that.
In the original script, this scene takes place in the jungle, where the characters step out and Laval says, "Don't be afraid. What tribe are you from?", to which Morro and Lloyd scream in terror.[10]
According to Tommy Andreasen, the First Spinjitzu Master may have brought the Serpentine from Chima. One hint at this is the blue orb on Pythor's chest.[11]Chris "Doc" Wyatt later confirmed that they are from the Wyldness, but now it's unclear if they are related to Chima island or have been living in the other part of the realm.
At some point, there was an insect tribe in the realm from which Drix was from. However, there are no amphomorphic insect tribes in the The Legends of Chima theme, although there are two arachnid tribes, Scorpions and Spiders, which hadn't evolved until the events of the series.
The creators of Legends of Chima specifically did not include snakes in the TV series because there were already snake people in Ninjago.[12]
According to Tommy Andreasen, in addition to the original inhabitants of Chima, Serpentine can also use CHI.[13]
Jay once erroneously had a page on the Legends of ChimaLEGO.com website.[14]
Nya's phoenix symbol on the one of the Phoenix Temple walls, as seen in the episode "Cool and Collected"
Nya's original phoenix symbol is present at the Phoenix Temple. It's unknown if this is a meaningless Easter egg or a hint at a deeper connection.
Ninjago and Legends of Chima exist as fictional worlds within Nexo Knights, another LEGO theme.[15]
The TV series was animated by M2Film, the same studio that animated the early Ninjago set commercials.
Tommy Andreasen once wrote a crossover short based on the two shows, but it was never produced.[16] This would have been the story, as described by Andreasen: "Jay was watching Chima on TV. Dreamed about an adventure with Eris. Other ninja and animals showed up. Spinjitzu vs Chi."[17] "It was a misunderstanding. But there was Chi powered Spinjitzu."[18] "But then [Jay] called Nya Eris by mistake and made her mad."[19]
The realm passageway under the Forever Rock is only known by the Phoenixes and possibly Eris.[20] However, members of the Wolves or Ravens such as Worriz and Razar would likely be the ones to use the passageway if they found it.[21]
Tommy Andreasen said "The Phoenix were the masters of fire."[22] This implies they were connected to the elemental power of Fire.
In LEGO Dimensions, if the player lets Kai and Eris interact, they will start talking about how they feel the power of Fire in the other one.
While Christmas does not exist in Ninjago,[23] an extremely similar holiday exists in Chima, as seen in the webisode, "Merry Chima Everyone!"[24]
As revealed in San Diego Comic Con 2024, Chima will be seen again in Ninjago: Dragons Rising but not in the way fans will expect.
When questioned if some characters from the Chima series will be featured, it was answered that there are characters that could make a potential appearance and that “they” want to honor Chima.
It is unclear whether Chima was ever attacked by the Forbidden Five, unlike the rest of the Wyldness. When questioned about whether Chima was raised into the sky for protection from the Forbidden Five or if the Forbidden Five misused Chi and became corrupted, Chris "Doc" Wyatt mentioned that the truth lies somewhere in between, although he refrained from specifying which theory he was referring to.[25]
When asked if the Phoenixes didn't do anything to protect Chima from the Forbidden Five, Chris "Doc" Wyatt replied "Who says they didn't?"[26]
The floating island of Chima hasn't been seen since the Merge. When asked if the events of the Legends of Chima series are set in the distant past of the Wyldness/did time progress differently in different realms before the Merge, Chris "Doc" Wyatt replied "Great question that no one's asked me yet. I want to answer it, but I better not for now."[27]
However, Laval and Cragger are the same age as in Legends of Chima during the events of, "Curseworld, Part II", which directly counteracts this.
In response to a question on whether it will be learned in other media on how the island of Chima was raised above the Wyldness, Chris "Doc" Wyatt replies that he doesn't know of when or where it will be told but suspects it will be but not in Dragons Rising.[28]
Legends of Chima is currently the only LEGO series to be canonically connected to Ninjago.
