Open Sky Surgery[]

Following a raid on the Freebooters and their train, Nokt and his Dragonians had managed to escape with the Red Prismatic Blade! In the ensuing chaos, Zane managed to save the train and its occupants from a deadly crash, but at a great cost to himself. As he now lay on the ground, unconscious, P.I.X.A.L. and the Freebooters were hard at work making repairs and rebuilding him into a larger body.

After regaining consciousness, Zane awoke in his half completed, larger form. As he examined his surroundings, the Ninja of Ice began rattling off a long list of questions to P.I.X.A.L., all of which she answered as quickly as Zane asked them. Horrified to learn that he had been unconscious for over thirty-two minutes, Zane crawled atop of Zanth and declared that he was going after Nokt and the Dragonians. With great reluctance, P.I.X.A.L. agreed with Zane's decision, but recruited the assistance of Rapton and his Freebooters as backup. Now armed with the Freebooters' Hover chariots, P.I.X.A.L. hoisted Zane's legs onboard and took off after him.

Fortunately, thanks to Zanth and the Hover Chariots being faster than Nokt's flying, the group were able to catch up with the dark warrior and his forces. Unfortunately, Nokt had spotted them as well and commanded his Dragonians to begin attacking the Freebooters while he took care of Zane personally. Although Zane attempted to fight off Nokt with his elemental power of Ice, Nokt countered Zane's abilities with his own power of Brute Force, generating shields strong enough to withstand the the freezing temperatures of Zane's cryogenic powers! The battle would soon begin to ever slowly turn in favor of Nokt, for Zane's lack of legs made it difficult for him to maneuver while riding atop of Zanth. Seeing this weakness, P.I.X.A.L. ordered the Freebooters to back her up while she made an attempt to deliver Zane his legs.

After reaching Zane, the Ninja of Ice reluctantly withdrew from his battle with Nokt for his necessary repairs. Lying across the hoods of the hover chariots, P.I.X.A.L. began attaching the legs while the Freebooters held off the attacking Dragonians and Rapton and Zanth kept Nokt at bay. Unfortunately, as Rapton observed Zanth's combat abilities, he began developing other plans, musing to himself that the dragon could surely fetch a higher price than the stolen prismatic blade.

Meanwhile, P.I.X.A.L. had finished attaching Zane's legs, allowing him to fly across the air on his own thanks to the rockets built into his feet. As the two nindroids briefly parted with the Freebooters to resume their fight against Nokt, Rapton regrouped with his subordinates and ordered them to capture Zanth! Noticing Rapton and the Freebooters' betrayal, Zane and P.I.X.A.L. were forced to break off their attack on Nokt to save Zanth from their temporary allies, the truce having been all but broken. While the two begin fighting, and defeating, Rapton and his Freebooters, Nokt decides to utilize this distraction to escape alongside his Dragonians.

Once the Zanth was freed and the Freebooters were defeated, the angry looters promptly turned on Rapton for his poor planning and ideas, attacking their leader for their losses and injuries. As Zane and P.I.X.A.L. watched this scuffle onward with amusement, Zane inquired if they should resume their pursuit of Nokt, but P.I.X.A.L. noted it was certainly too late by now. With no choice left, the two and Zanth decide to regroup with Lloyd and the other ninja to warn them that the Forbidden Five were seeking the Prismatic Blades.

Trivia

Trivia[]

  • The comic takes place during "I Alone Can Save Them". However, there are some inconsistencies with the series:
    • The episode implies that the scene with Nokt using the Prismatic Blade to break one of Thunderfang's chains happens before the scene where P.I.X.A.L. and Freebooters make a decision to repair Zane. However, according to the comic, the order is the opposite.
    • The comic states that P.I.X.A.L., Zane and the Freebooters were able to catch up with Nokt and the Dragonian Warriors after he stole the Prismatic Blade. However, Nokt stole the blade during the night, and P.I.X.A.L., Zane and Freebooters went after Nokt during the day. The fact that they could catch up with Nokt contradicts with "Chaos Unchained," where the ninja weren't able to catch up with Drix and the Dragonian Warriors despite them not leaving too long ago.

Errors[]

  • The comic states that it is impossible to use Shatterspin without having a solid ground, but this is confirmed not to be true in the actual season.
    • Though this could also just be Zane's assumption, as he had never seen Shatterspin being activated without the need for solid ground.
  • The power of Brute Force looks strangely different from how it looks in the show and for some reason looks similar to Shockwave.
