History[]

Background[]

Djinjagan Dragons lived peacefully in Djinjago, until Nya destroyed the Cursed Realm to save Ninjago from the Preeminent, it caused Djinjago to become destabilized, leading to its gradual collapse. As a result, the population of Djinjagan Dragons dwindled to the point of critical endangerment. Amidst the turn of events, there was only one dragon who managed to survive the destruction of Djinjago. Zanth was at Imperium during the time of the realm's downfall.[2] However, she was captured by the Claws of Imperium, who wanted her life force to power the Kingdom of Imperium. The scientists at the Advanced Systems Lab nicknamed her "Sora", a name that paid homage to her becoming an orphan after the loss of her family.[3] Zanth, or "Sora" as she was known to the Imperians, would one day be visited by a young girl who dreamed of becoming a scientist like her hero, Dr. LaRow. Zanth's mistreatment at LaRow's hands horrified the girl, who would eventually flee Imperium and rename herself after Zanth's nickname.

Dragons Rising, Season 1[]

Zanth remained imprisoned in Imperium for several years after The Merge, but was kept alive by her captors. At one point in time, she was featured in a recruitment video for the Claws of Imperium, towards the end of which she snarled angrily at Rapton and startled him. One day, a now teenage Sora was coerced into returning to the Advanced Systems Lab to improve upon her old designs for the Photacs. When she refused, Dr. LaRow convinced her otherwise by threatening Zanth with torture. Fortunately however, Sora managed to trick LaRow and release Zanth in the process, finally granting the dragon her freedom as the pair attempted to escape from the lab.

After many difficulties, resulting in quite some pain inflicted upon Zanth, the two were able to escape from Imperium alongside many other dragons that had previously been captured by the Claws. Now freed, Zanth chose to stay alongside her rescuers, the legendary Ninja, and took up residence within their new Dragon stables. Afterwards, Zanth participated in the hunt for the Dragon Cores, teaming up with Nya and Sora in search of the Yellow Dragon Core, ferrying her human allies to the Pinnacle of Crystals.

Within the Pinnacle of Crystals, Zanth was reunited, much to her surprise, with her old partner, Arrakore - the last living Djinn. As she warmly embraced her old friend, Arrakore explained to Nya and Sora how he and Zanth had survived Djinjago's destruction while also unknowingly revealing Zanth's real name to the ninja, who up until now had only referred to her by her Imperium nickname. When the Howlers pursuing the Ninja returned, Zanth helped to restore Arrakore's hope and magic, enabling him to defeat the Howlers. The next morning, Zanth said goodbye to Arrakore and, with his blessing, continued her journey with the Ninja.

Directed to the Land of Lost Things, Zanth and her allies continued their search for the Yellow Dragon Core. Some time after landing however, Zanth was captured by LaRow and a fleet of Imperium Drones, but was saved by Jiro. She then helped Cole in battle against the Hoarder and later ferried Sora out of the Land of Lost Things once the Ninja successfully retrieved the Dragon Core.

During the Ninja's attack on Imperium, Zanth and Jiro fought against Empress Beatrix and her Empress Mech to buy time for the rest of the Ninja to escape and regroup. Although she and Jiro were able to hold off the Empress as long as they could, both were ultimately defeated and sent to the Advanced Systems Lab to have their energy drained. Fortunately however, they were freed by an angry mob of Imperian citizens who were outraged by the exposure of their empress' lies. Now released, Zanth assisted in ferrying Imperian citizens to safety during the MergeQuake Storm and helped the Ninja unite the Dragon Cores at the Crossroads. Once the disaster had been averted, she, Jiro, and Heatwave celebrated with a race near the Monastery of Spinjitzu.

Dragons Rising, Season 2[]

A year after the MergeQuake Storm, Zanth continued to stay with the Ninja, assisting them in tending to the mortally wounded Matriarch of the Mountain Dragons and helping to ferry Eridany to the World Forest. She later helped ferry the Ninja to the Dragon Stone Shrine, where they would attempt to forcibly enter the City of Temples after the Ninja were rejected from entering. She would later cover for the Ninja as the group were attacked by Security Bots and returned back to the Monastery while the Ninja made the rest of the way to the city on their own.
