Overview
The glass core[1] was a unique prison designed specifically to capture Source Dragons and harness their dragon energy. However, the action caused the realms to become destabilized, until Lloyd used the Dragon Cores to liberate the Source Dragon of Energy, effectively neutralizing the consequences of his release.

Background[]
Following Beatrix's ascension to the throne of the Kingdom of Imperium, the glass core was commissioned and designed by Advanced Systems Lab for the purpose of containing and draining the energy of Source Dragons. When the core was completed, Lord Ras used the Icon of the Source Dragon of Energy to summon its respective Source Dragon to be imprisoned within the core.
The Battle of the Second Monastery[]
Inside the Monastery of Imperium, Lloyd and Zane try to find a power source to power the portal gate. The two arrive in a room where they found the glass core. The two attempt to free the Source Dragon of Energy, but the dragon intervenes and explains that his imprisonment has prevented the realms from collapsing into total destruction.
The Source Dragon of Energy went on to clarify that he could effortlessly obliterate the kingdom using his energy, but the glass core blocked most his powers. When hearing that there were other dragons and Lloyd was an Elemental Master, the Source Dragon extended an offer to Lloyd; giving him power to act as his conduit to power up the portal and free the others. Lloyd accepted the offer, and the Source Dragon of Energy told him to approach the glass core, where once Lloyd touches it, the Source Dragon grants him a portion of his power, which he recives visions but energizes the gate at the Monastery of Imperium.
We Are All Dragons[]
While Jordana and the other scientists trying to drain the Source Dragon's energy, the glass core was seen with the Source Dragon of Energy roaring in pain.
The Power Within[]
The glass core was ultimately destroyed after Lloyd used the Dragon Cores to stable the Source Dragon's release.

- When questioned about whether the Source Dragon of Energy being trapped in the glass core led to the Merge, as the Source Dragon of Energy had stated that the realms became unstable due to this, Chris "Doc" Wyatt acknowledged that it was a valid inquiry, but he expressed his inability to provide an answer to it.[2]
