Fire Wing Harnesses

Overview

The Fire Wing Harnesses are eight ancient artifacts of immense power. They each wield the powers of Creation within them, and thus can be used to perform a Great Illumination.

History

History[]

Background[]

The Fire Wing Harnesses were ancient artifacts created for the Great Illumination. The Phoenix attempted to use the Great Illumination to heal Chima and end the threat posed by the Hunters. The Phoenix Elders were meant to wear the Fire Wing Harnesses and fly into the heart of Mount Cavora, while a ninth Phoenix would guide and complete the ritual. Fluminox was supposed to be that ninth Phoenix, but he chose to remain with his son, Flinx. Because he did not take part, the Great Illumination was imperfect. The Phoenix Elders perished, while the resulting power transformed Chima, and the force that raised Mount Cavora into the air created the Gorge of Eternal Depth, where the Hunters became trapped in its cold depths.

After the failed Illumination, the Fire Wing Harnesses were hidden throughout Chima in the ruins of ancient Phoenix cities. The Phoenix created protective mechanisms and puzzles to prevent anyone from finding them easily. Their locations were recorded on an ancient Phoenix artifact simply known as the Artifact, which served as the only map to the Harnesses.

Trivia

Trivia[]

  • In the show, all the Fire Wing Harnesses have the same design, sporting a Phoenix in the center and the bird wings, now in the same burning effect like Phoenix wings. In the sets, each Harness has the symbol of one of the eight main Tribes of Chima imprinted on them with specially designed wing pieces.
    • In the show, when Laval and everyone else put on their Harnesses for the first time, the symbol of their respective Tribe appears, along with the roar of their Tribe being heard.
  • They are the only collectibles among all the Legends of Chima sets.
  • Worriz, Gorzan, Razar and Eris' came in the first wave of sets containing the Fire Wing Harnesses. Bladvic, Rogon, Laval and Cragger came in the final wave,
    • Laval and Cragger's are the only ones to come in the same set.
  • In Fluminox's flashback in "The Heart of Cavora," it is shown that he had a ninth Fire Wing that he didn't use during the Great Illumination. This is presumed to be an animation error, as there were only eight Fire Wings used by the Phoenix Elders on the painting in "Trial by Fire" and only eight Fire Wings were needed for the Second Great Illumination.
  • The harnesses are said to have the power of creation in them, but it's unknown its relate to Creation according to Ninjago lore.
    • Since the Fire Wing Harnesses are what created the Chi and Chi is connected to Source Energy,[2] this would mean that the Fire Wings are also somehow connected to Source Energy, which Creation is not derived from.[3]
