The Artifact was an ancient Phoenix relic that held the map of the Fire Wing Harnesses. It was placed inside the Phoenix Temple.
History
History[]
Background[]
Following the Great Illumination, the Phoenix decided to create a map to the locations of the eight Fire Wing Harnesses, which they referred to as the Artifact to hide its true purpose. However, to ensure that the Artifact would not fall into the wrong hands, the Phoenix added a safeguard to the Artifact in which it will self-destruct if it should ever leave Phoenix territory.
Trial by Fire[]
Fluminox used the Artifact while telling the Story Before the Great Story.
Cool and Collected[]
To show them the plans of the Hunters, Fluminox and Tormak invited Flinx, Eris, Laval and Li'Ella to the Phoenix Temple, where they showed them the caverns of Chima thanks to the Artifact. They explained that during the ancient times, the Hunters used the caverns to launch attacks and now they are using them again. Then, Fluminox said that Tormak is a Tunnelcat, the only warriors of old to be brave enough to fight in the caves, while Tormak included that the caves are cold and cruel, and those who fight in them are even worse. Fluminox said that such exploits have left Tormak attuned to the caves, with Tormak saying he can feel the Hunters are using the caves again. Hearing this, Eris asked where all the caverns go, which Fluminox responded by saying everywhere, even the Lion Temple, and they will not assistance, giving them the Legend Beasts for help.
The King Thing[]
Tormak and Fluminox were looking at the Artifact when Li'Ella and Lundor arrived to tell them about the attack at the Lion Temple.
The Artifact[]
At the Phoenix Temple, Tormak was looking at the Artifact, wondering where Li'Ella was now. As Fluminox told him how he was supposed to be the ninth Phoenix during the Great Illumination, Tormak continued to look at the Artifact.
After Sir Fangar offered to give Li'Ella back to him in exchange of the Artifact, Tormak entered the Phoenix Temple and started to carry the Artifact. Trakkar asked him what he was doing, only for him to knock him and Tazar out. As he got close to the exit, Lundor saw him with the Artifact as some guards tried to stop Tormak, only for him to defeat Lundor and the guards. Then, Tormak exited the Phoenix Temple with the Artifact and met with the Hunters. Seeing the Artifact, Fangar said he expected more, while Tormak said the Artifact holds the only map to the Fire Wing Harnesses. Hearing this, Fangar realized the Phoenix would never be able to find their Fire Wing Harnesses and the Hunters would be free to rule all of Chima. Tormak asked him where his daughter was, to which Fangar said that Li'Ella is in the cage of one of the Mammoth Mechs and said Tormak would be reunited with her once he has the Artifact. However, Tormak wanted Li'Ella first, while Fangar said he needs to be sure that Tormak would not attack them and keep the Artifact, even though Tormak said he is true to his word. Then, Fangar told Tormak to bring the Artifact to the Mammoth Mech where his daughter is, saying that they prepared a special space to contain its unique heat. Hearing this, Tormak angrily told him that the Artifact stays here, which caused the Hunters to leave. However, after looking at the picture Li'Ella made for him, Tormak rethought the deal and started to run towards the Hunters to catch up to him, which pleased Fangar. As he got closer to the Hunters, Fluminox, who noticed that the Artifact was gone, tried to stop him, saying that the Artifact can't be removed from Phoenix territory, only for Tormak to say he has no choice. Fluminox continued to warn his friend by saying the Artifact will protect itself, telling him to stop before it's too late. Unfortunately, Tormak and the Artifact eventually exited Phoenix territory, causing the Artifact to explode, knocking back the Hunters and fusing with Tormak's very essence, turning him into the Panther from Eris' visions. The essence of the Artifact caused Tormak to inadvertently burn the picture Li'Ella made for him, causing him to flee out of grief. Meanwhile, as Eris and Laval are heading to the Phoenix Temple, the explosion of the Artifact causes them to lose control of their Speedorz for a moment. Then, they see Tormak, who Eris recognizes as the Panther from her visions.
The Phoenix Has Landed[]
While Tormak was passing through the Outlands, he encountered Predator Plants, who were trying to eat him. As he talks to them, the heat emanating from Tormak prevents the plants from eating him.
A Spark of Hope[]
While running through the Outlands, Tormak felt the energy of the Artifact inside him, much to his annoyance.
Later, the Heroes of Chima and their friends saw something shining from the Outlands, where Tormak felt that the heat from the Artifact was blazing inside him, saying that he can't control it. Then, the heat fully consumes him and powers him up like he plugged in an orb of CHI into his chest, as the Artifact manifests the map to the Fire Wings on his head.
Wings of Fire[]
As the heat of the Artifact continued to power up Tormak, the heroes, Lavertus and Li'Ella followed the light, as Li'Ella felt the light's pain. Eventually, they found the source of the light, Tormak, who was still powered up by the Artifact. Tormak told them that he would find the Fire Wings to stop the Hunters, saying that the map's energy still affects him, bursting forth without rhyme. Then, Tormak let the energy burst through him, revealing the map to the Fire Wings as Lavertus copied the map to a scroll.
The Heart of Cavora[]
Tormak used the energy of the Artifact to break the stone Rhinos couldn't break, revealing the seventh Fire Wing.
Following the Second Great Illumination, the power of the Illumination purified Tormak of the Artifact's essence.
