A Spark of Hope is the thirteenth episode of the third season of Legends of Chima and the 39th episode overall.

Plot

Plot[]

The Ice Hunters are spreading their freeze throughout Chima again and make it to the Bear Caves and freeze the Bears but the Bear Legend Beast comes in and sends out his fire breath melting the Ice and forcing the Hunters away with Maula saying this was fine as the rest of Chima will theirs, they then pass the Crocodile Swamp where the Crocodile Legend Beast also melts the area with its breath, then the Gorilla Forest is also thawed out by the Gorilla Legend Beast, however, the Beavers and their dam do get hit since they have no Legend Beasts to protect them. Meanwhile the Wolves are marching towards the Crescent where they see the Hunters shooting at the Phoenix Outpost, Worriz notices they can't get their Fire CHI if the way to it is frozen over, on the other side, Trakkar asks Lundor why the Ice Hunters are freezing the Crescent, Lundor tells him it's so that the tribes of Chima can't get to the Fire CHI to stop them, Trakkar then asks if they can just deliver the tribes their Fire CHI but Lundor tells him they were tasked to guard the outpost until the Blazing Bastion returns, Trakkar says they haven't even seen the airship for some time but Lundor reminds him that Tormak broke the rules and because of that, he was left burned and blackened, pursued by all, completely alone, he defied the powers of the Phoenix, and paid an excruciating price and Trakkar that if he were him, he would stay at his post like he was ordered, Trakkar says he understand and Lundor says the Phoenix shall return soon he hopes, Tormak is shown still running through the Predator Plant Fields in the Outlands when Lundor is talking about him.

At the Fangs, the Ice Hunters are finishing up burying the Phoenixes, Laval, Eris, Cragger and Li'Ella in the Gorge of Eternal Depth, down below Li'Ella questions that despite them being down here, Laval still has family there somehow to which Laval says yes, it's his uncle ShadoWind aka Lavertus and says he can do anything and Lavertus says "or does he?" Cragger scoffs at this and says to not mind him since he always talks like that and Eris then asks him what he is doing down in the Gorge, he brings them up to speed including Li'Ella and Flinx calling him Hot Wings, saying that he and the gang had a run in with the Crawlers awhile back in the Outlands, Scorpions, Spiders, Bats, he called them a nasty bunch and brings up how they brought the Scorpion Cave down on them, Lavertus says this was not the first cave in he has been in, he then says you can use Golden CHI to create anything, even a one bedroom shelter, he then crawls through the rock he formed and sees the Crawlers' CHI, he thought about taking the orbs since the Crawlers stole them from Mount Cavora itself but the Crawlers came back to collect their CHI, Lavertus then says he heard Laval gave Scorm an orb of CHI and points out how Scorm was not happy that Laval simply just gave him an orb of CHI to use, he says he saw Scorm throwing away the CHI Laval gave him and he was gonna go down and collect that CHI, but as he was making his way down, the Ice Hunters were just starting to crawl their way out of the chasm they were in for the first time in thousands of years and says it looked like they were powered up from that CHI. Laval then realizes this was probably his fault again to which Cragger buts in saying nice going as this was the second time he unearthed an enemy tribe with CHI, Laval isn't thrilled but Lavertus says there isn't anything they can do about it now, he then continues his story; he says this wasn't the first time he witnessed never before seen creatures in the Outlands, so he knew what to do, hide, he thanks his Golden CHI for hiding him and says he would've warned the tribes of Chima but it took him forever to dig himself out of the shelter he built and says he felt like a bird breaking out of his shell, or did he? He then starts bawking like a bird and Fluminox questions if he is really the one to help them out and Laval says yes because he is Lavertus, getting trapped is just another day for him, Lavertus then says sorry, he didn't mean to make fun of birds or eggs, or strange red fellas with wings. Fluminox says they are Phoenix, the Ancient Clan of the Fire Wings, Masters of the Fire CHI, Custodians of Mount Cavora and Guardians of Chima, Lavertus says that's a nice résumé and asks if he minds that he calls them Hot Wings to which Fluminox says while Flinx laughs that they do mind and that the Phoenix are not hatched but are birthed by the sun, the light at the dawn of time and it is to that Sun that they will one day return in glory transcendent.

Lavertus then asks his nephew if there is anything new with him and wonders if it has to do with the Lion lady Li'Ella but Laval says to his uncle that she isn't his girlfriend or is she? which Li'Ella can't help but smile at, Lavertus then takes note of Laval copying him and says that was a good one while Cragger and Eris aren't so amused. Fluminox says calamity's cry stings a sorrowful surface, hasten their egress they must, Lavertus doesn't understand but Flinx translates saying that things are getting worse up top for everyone and his dad senses it, Li'Ella then interrupts asking if they can please get out of there a little faster, Lavertus says anything for his nephew's girlfriend and then lays down two orbs of Golden CHI. Meanwhile up top, the Ice Hunters continue to freeze over Chima, they freeze the Eagle Mountain, which the Eagle Legend Beast is there to undo, then at the Rhino Quarry, Mungus shows up and tries to get Rogon, Rukus and Runk to play in the snow with him but because of the Rhino Legend Beast increasing their intelligence, they refuse this offer which causes Mungus to cry and go away with Rogon telling them not to distracted by things like that, Fangar is at the Grand Archway and it's their he lets raise his new and improved Ice Fortress and vows to get revenge by going to the Lion City first, then Mount Cavora and beyond and claims nothing will stop him at they make their way to Lion City. Back in the Gorge, Lavertus and Laval are finished setting up the Golden CHI orbs he has so they can get out of there, he is told to hurry it up and Fluminox looks very unamused, Lavertus then tells everyone to gather around the Golden CHI closest to them and focus their attention on making pillars so they can get themselves out of the Gorge, he tells everyone to stay focused and is impressed by the Phoenix Fluminox and Flinx and five are them are able to reach the top of the Gorge with the pillars, breaking the Ice and some of the Hunters slide down, but Lavertus tells them to slow down so the rest of them can catch up, which Flinx tells his father when he doesn't understand Lavertus figure of speech, Eris is struggling with her orb but Fluminox comes to aid her which she thanks him for and he says she has great power and that the soul of a Phoenix lives inside her and to let it take flight, she uses this new found strength to push her pillar but also help the others reach the top of the Gorge of Eternal Depth which Mottrot above feels and orders everyone to retreat before they fall into the Gorge as well, Laval down below tells Cragger it is time to go and they make it back to the Flying Temple, Mottrot up top then tells the Ice Hunters to eat their CHI and then to flee and they barely make it out as the heroes in the Gorge make it out of the Gorge with Foltrax, Firox and Frax all shouting "IT'S BLAZIN TIME!" as they are free, Cragger and Lavertus then start bouncing off of each other with the "or did I" kind of talk and they all get a good laugh about it but Fluminox then alerts them that the entire land of Chima as frozen over, Eris asks how this could've happened and Fluminox says confinement consumes chronology, Li'Ella then translates saying they were down in the Gorge a lot longer than they thought, Eris asks if that was long enough to freeze all of Chima but Fluminox says not all is frozen as the Legend Beasts are guarding their tribes and melting the freeze that they can so no harm comes to them, but the rest of the tribes aren't so lucky as a tyranny of Ice prevails, Cragger then notices something and the gang sees that the Ice Hunters rebuilt the Ice Fortress and is on route to Lion City and will breech the walls within a fortnight, Flinx tells his dad he will melt it all again but Fluminox says they will simply build it all again and says to let them ensure the safety of Cavora first.

Stealthor then comes to Fangar telling him that the heroes managed to get out of the Gorge of Eternal Depth a lot quicker than they anticipated but Fangar says they were never supposed to escape, Stealthor says they will double their speed but Fangar says to triple it has he doesn't want the Phoenix to get any ideas about stopping them from crashing into the Lion City and bringing down Mount Cavora too, Maula then orders her Mammoths to march towards Lion City at triple pace. The Flying Temple then lands back on Mount Cavora and Lavertus is amazed that there is a whole city up there and looks out at the view and says you can even see the Outlands from their which is one place that hasn't been frozen over yet but Cragger looks at the rest of Chima, Flinx then says they know of the one way to fix this but Fluminox says no to this, not anymore, Flinx then says the last time things got this bad they launched the Great Illumination, Fluminox says this power requires the eight Fire Wing harnesses which he says are concealed in the buried ruins of the Ancient Phoenix Cities, Cragger says whatever and they should find those harnesses and light it up but Fluminox tells them that alas, the only map to the harnesses was incinerated when Tormak tries taking the Artifact outside of Phoenix territory. Lavertus says that is quite the melodrama they have up there and Li'Ella says Tormak is her father and he will help them but now she can't stand the fact that he is out there somewhere all alone and in pain, everyone then brings up their experiences with this, Laval and Lavertus were in exile for some time, Cragger lost his parents and also felt alone for a while and Flinx who was just recently in the Gorge of Eternal Depth saying he never felt ant lonelier than when he was down there, Laval says they all came back from dark times and he believes Tormak will too along with all of Chima. Fluminox then says he knows not, the power of the Fire Wing harnesses is the only way to stop the Ice Hunters and save Chima, but they cannot find the harnesses without the map and that it is gone now and fears Chima will fare no better, Laval then says he probably hasn't heard his hope speech yet, he tells Li'Ella she just needs a little ember, a spark of hope and that's all it takes to light the blaze and Flinx says or fire up your wings and Eris says or Chima, Laval finishes by saying sometimes a spark is all it takes. Just then, a strange light appears to be illuminating from the Outlands and Lavertus tells everyone to come see it, Laval asks what they light is but Lavertus says he doesn't know as the tribes out there, Scorpions, Spiders and Bats never had anything that bright out there, Eris then asks what it could be, Tormak is then standing in the middle of the Outlands and exclaims he feels the heat of the Artifact blazing inside of him and says he can't control as the heat fully consumes him and powers up like he plugged in an orb of CHI showing a strange symbol on the forehead.

  • Although it is only a flashback, this episode marks the last time the Crawlers have appeared in main series with both Scorm and Scolder appearing in Lavertus' flashback.

Errors[]

  • During the scene where the wolves are arriving to The Crescent, Wilhurt is seen without his cape.
  • When Mottrot leads a group of Mammoths when consuming CHI, their CHI glows are in the shape of a Rhino's, rather than a Mammoth's.
  • When Sir Fangar is looking the Blazing Bastion returning to Mt. Cavora, the trees and shrubs that can be seen below are not frozen.
  • Laval's friends blame him for the awakening of Sir Fangar, despite it being completely illogical since it is actually Scorm's fault.
