The Recruit
The Recruit[]
Days after the Ritual of the Blood Moon, several Wolf Mask Warriors stumble their way across the Merged Realms, seeking to rejoin Ras and the rest of the Wolf Clan. As they traverse the forest, one warrior questions their loyalty to Ras and suggests deserting him and the Wolf Clan to go their separate ways. The warriors are soon ambushed by Lloyd and Nya, for the Ninja have been hunting the scattered remnants of the Wolf Clan for information on the whereabouts of their master and the Shadow Dojo.
Although the warriors lack information on Ras' whereabouts, the ninja nevertheless are determined to prevent them from reuniting with their master and attack! As the small group of warriors are slowly decimated by the pair of ninja, a lone warrior managed to escape and flees deeper into the wildness, alone and afraid. After several more days of weary travel, the lone warrior discovers Ras and a platoon of Wolf Warriors marching through the forest. Pleased by the lone warrior's determination and tenacity, Ras welcomes him back into the ranks of the Wolf Clan as they make their way toward the City of Temples.
As the Wolf Clan sets up camp for the night, they are encountered by a pair of administration agents: Agent Walker and Agent Underwood. The two agents quickly begin harassing the Clan for camping in an area where the action is forbidden while also mistaking Ras for a dog and suggesting that he should be put on a leash. Although the latter insinuation is quickly cleared up, the agents continue to pester to Wolf Clan for their unauthorized camping. While Cinder begs his master for the opportunity to destroy the two agents, Ras instead calls for patience, at least up until Underwood suggested seizing the Gong of Shattering because the Clan lacked a traveling musician's license. By this point, Ras had enough and allowed Cinder to deal with them.
It would only take a few seconds for Cinder to wipe the floor with the pair of agents, striking at them with his elemental power of Smoke and Shatterspin through the Gong of Shattering's power. After defeating Underwood, Cinder turned his attention to Agent Walker who cautioned the Master of Smoke to stay back, or else! Although Cinder laughed off his threat, the agent suddenly unveiled his control over an elemental power of his own, surprising all who were present! Bolts of lightning now lit up the dark forest as the agent and Cinder clashed. Although Cinder acknowledged his foe's strength and abilities, he was still far stronger than the agent and easily overwhelmed him with Shatterspin. Before the final blow could be struck, Ras ordered for Cinder to stand down; this administration agent's abilities had captured Ras' interest. As Agent Walker returned to his feet, Ras offered him a proposition: "Do you want to join our team and take part in the Tournament of the Sources?"

Trivia
Trivia[]
- The comic reveals how Jay joined the Wolf Clan. However, there are some inconsistencies and timeline errors:
- Jay meets Ras after the Wolf Clan departed to the City of Temples, while he had already left the Administration before "The Shape of Motion," when the Wolf Clan was still in the Shadow Dojo.
- Underwood also faced off against the Wolf Clan but fled. However, in "The Shape of Motion," she and Allen are bored because there is nothing out of the usual happening.
- Jay states in "Inside the Maze" that he escaped from the Administration and was found by Ras who told him that he was his student before the Merge, but in the comics Ras recruits him without using this ploy.
- Jay managed to briefly fight off Cinder's Shatterspin using his Lightning power, while Shatterspin was never stated to have such a weakness.
- This is the only installment where wolf warriors from Ras' group are shown speaking.
- The magazine states that the Source Dragon of Focus is the Source Dragon of Meditation.
- When asked, Chris "Doc" Wyatt replied "Not confirmed. Translation issues maybe?".[1]
- This can't be possible because the German version of the magazine doesn't contain the page with the Source Dragons' names, only the English version does.
