Into the Outlands

Into the Outlands is the first episode of the second season of Legends of Chima and the 21st episode overall.

Plot

Plot[]

Lagravis is recapping everything that has happened so far; it all started with a terrible accident at the Gorge of Eternal Depth with Cragger's parents falling into the gorge, best friends becoming worst enemies, many battles fought because of this accident, Ravens vs. Eagles, Lions vs. Crocodiles and Wolves vs. everyone else. Nature then became unbalanced, but that wasn't the worst of it as the Black Cloud came and took the falls of Mount Cavora away from them, depriving them of their precious CHI they have sworn to protect saying the Sacred Pool only cares echoes of what was once there. The Legend Beasts can restore Mount Cavora and save Chima but so far, only the Crocodile Legend Beast appeared. Everyone else is then bummed about their Legend Beasts but Laval says he sees more than an empty pool, he sees the very best of Chima, eight heroes who were once sworn enemies are now best friends again and they band together to search for the Legend Beasts and save the world as they are the Legends of Chima.

After falling into the Gorge of Eternal Depth, Crunket learned two things there, 1. the gorge is not eternal and 2. they are not alone, they spent ages digging their way out of the cave and realized the caves may have minds of their own, but then a miracle happened, CHI, the same CHI Laval dropped into the gorge found it's way to Crunket and Crominus which Cragger subtly reminds Laval by saying he wondered how that happened. Crunket then explained that the creatures chasing them were attracted to the CHI and grew into their new forms including a Scorpion name Scorm, the Scorpions, Spiders and Bats then asked where the source of the CHI is from and they pointed to Mount Cavora in hopes they can go free, but their luck ran out when they tried to flee after hearing that these tribes wanted drain the falls and so Crunket and Crominus ran into the Outlands where the Predator Plants lurked. Crominus was seemingly captured there and then and Crunket was passed out on the Crocodile Legend Beasts when ShadoWind came to her aid and whispered something to hear while holding a weird pink scarf object. The Legend Beasts were then captured as the Black Cloud was going to drain Mount Cavora and steal the CHI and wanted nothing to get in their way but Laval confidentially said that getting in the way of evil plans is his group's specialty.

Eris then asks where Rogon is when he arrives in his Rock Flinger, but Laval told him that they need to be small and quick in the Outlands as the vehicle he has is too big, but Laval let's it slide but only if Rogon uses the vehicle for essential items only, everyone then starts suiting up as Lagravis gives Laval a shield and Crunket gives Cragger his father's Scale Ripper and she urges him to find Crominus and to be careful to which Cragger says he will. Crooler then appears to send her farewells to Cragger before he leaves which he is surprised to see her, Crunket says she let her out of the dungeons and is aware of what Crooler did while she and Crominus were gone but tells Cragger that she is still her daughter and his sister, Cragger then tells his mother to not listen to anything she says to which Crunket replies that it seems he has learned his lesson after she and Crominus tried saying that to him before falling into the Gorge of Eternal Depth. Skinnet then shows up and gives Laval a bag full of jars called Skunk in a Can which he had Skinnet make the previous night and tells the other tribes that apart from ShadoWind, Skinnet is the only other person they know that has been to the Outlands and back to which Skinnet says it's because of his special gift and then sprays everyone, the tribes then set off with Lagravis, Crunket and Skinnet waving goodbye while Crooler stands there with her arms crossed.

Laval then uses the first of his jars to clear out the Predator Plants so they can get past and begin their journey through the Outlands to find Crominus and the Legend Beasts, Laval then uses another jar of the skunk and clears out more of the path while Cragger shoots at the plants, Eris is about to get snatched by the plants when she asks Laval to use another jar but a plant takes his bag of the jars before he can react and they group is surrounded. They start fighting off the plants with their weapons and Bladvic gets eaten by a Predator Plant, they are able to evade the plants but then go back to help Bladvic and Gorzan when Rogon arrives in his Rock Flinger and Laval and Gorzan make it inside, Laval asks who was driving the vehicle as Rogon was back there with them but he then sees the rocks and scolds Rogon saying he thought he was bringing essential items to which Rogon says they are essential items, at least to him, Laval then reminds him that all of Chima, including the Outlands is filled with rocks, but this just makes Rogon think he needs more room to store the rocks rather then freeing up room. The Predator Plants then start attacking the vehicle and Rogon opens the back door and he, Gorzan and Laval fight off the plants, Gorzan then finds and gives Laval back his stink bombs and then throws the last two jars at the plants allowing his group to flee with Bladvic waking up saying he had the weirdest dream.

The group then make their way to a hilltop where spider webs are surrounding them and then the Black Cloud attacks again but this time the Bats reveal themselves and the group is struggling with them, they then decide as a group to retreat back into the toxic fields and take a new route to flee the Bats. The caves they go into remind them of the Speedor races in the Grand Arena which Worriz said was lucky for them but not the Bats and they are successful in outmaneuvering the Bats but luck runs out when they stumble across a wall of rocks blocking their path allowing the Bats to catch up to them, they are about to attack when Rogon busts through the rocks saving his group, when Laval and the others ask him where he came from, he pointed out a little house he found just beyond the rock wall and so the group decides to head to that house to find out more

They then arrive at the house and walk up to it when they are caught inside a claw, they wonder who even lives here when the doors open and out comes the owner of this house who turns out to be a Lion just like Laval. The Lion then gives the cupcakes he has to the Crocodile Legend Beast and says that no one has made it out that far due to the gauntlet the group just went through, the Lion then notices Laval and then decides to free the group and invites them into his house but Laval urges caution as they don't know who this is. They then enter and are amused by all the stuff he has including armor, rocks, flowers and more. Laval then points out how he knows all the Lions of his tribe but doesn't recognize this new Lion, the Lion says he was exiled a long time ago for doing a bad thing, Laval then recalls that the only other Lion he knows of that was exiled is Lavertus which is who this new Lion is as he says he hasn't heard that name in a long time, Cragger then asks Lavertus what he did that got him exiled but he gives him a mean look but then quickly shifts to a smirk and doesn't respond instead showing Laval he has a workout dummy name Sir Kicksalot.

Cragger then tries calling for Laval reminding him they have to stay together but Lavertus is instead the one with Cragger and scares him saying he can now take on his team one by one if he wants to which Cragger freaks out over but Lavertus calms him down slightly by saying he doesn't want to do that, or does he? He then says he is just messing with him, or is he? He then apologizes and asks Cragger if he misses his father to which he asks Lavertus how he knows his father but Lavertus doesn't answer as he sees Eris looking through the keyhole of a locked door and a mysterious yellow glow is shining through, he then shows the group a map of where the Legend Beasts are, Laval is surprised by this and wonders why Lavertus never saved them himself, but he says it's not his fight, it's Chima's and they exiled him years ago but does suggest that Laval's group can go do that instead, Laval then says that was very kind of Lavertus but he says he is just bored and doesn't have anyone to talk to except for the Crocodile Legend Beast, but he mentions that he is making some armor for the Outlands and is willingly to give some of it to the tribes if they want it, they accept and declare that with the armor, they will be able to free the Legend Beasts and save Chima.

Cragger is having trouble falling asleep thinking about the next day when Lavertus comes with a set of armor and tells Cragger that he will keep his group safe for the night, or will he? But this doesn't calm down Cragger as he is still shaking, Lavertus then heads to the door Eris was inspecting earlier where he walks through and reveals that he as a secret room filled with orbs of Golden CHI that has he won from the many Speedor races he participated in at the Grand Arena while dressed as ShadoWind.

  • This is Lavertus's first physical appearance.
  • This is the Scorpion King, Scorm's first appearance.
  • This is the only episode of the second season Spinlyn doesn't appear in.

Cultural References[]

  • Lavertus claming that he hasn't heard his name in a long time is very similar to Obi-Wan Kenobi from the Star Wars franchise saying the same thing to Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: A New Hope.

Errors[]

  • The Scorpions' upper teeth (which is supposed to cover their mouth) is shown to be too high up. This exposes their animation mouth which is in most cases covered up.
