“Battle is easy. Beauty is hard. Today, I shall triumph at both!”
— Spinlyn, "A Tangled Web"

Spinlyn is the Queen of the Spider Tribe.

History

History[]

Background[]

Originally one of many, countless Spiders dwelling in the depths of the Gorge of Eternal Depth, Spinlyn would come into contact with the lost Crominus and Crunket. Harassing them alongside her brethren, their attack would be cut short when she came into contact with CHI after Laval recklessly dumped the Crocodile Tribe's reservoir down the chasm.

Hungrily devouring and absorbing its innate energies, Spinlyn would evolve into a far larger, semi-humanoid version of herself and become a being of, at least to other Spiders, stunning beauty. After taking Crominus and Crunket hostage, she'd quickly rise to power as queen of the Spider Tribe due to her mesmerizing beauty and thus gain a loyal following. With Scorm and Braptor, the three led their tribes from the Gorge and into an exit located in the Outlands, and observing Mount Cavora in the distance, become fixated on using the power of its Chi, with Spinlyn in particular believing its evolutionary properties could be used to make her even more beautiful.

As the Crawlers formed their alliance, Spinlyn would quickly come into conflict with Scorm, likewise arguing over who supplied the Chi that transformed them in the first place, with Spinlyn having become convinced that it came from a 'Great Spider', in contrast to Scorm's 'Great Scorpion'. Despite their disagreements, however, the two would nevertheless put them aside to enact their plans of kidnapping the Legend Beasts, with Spinlyn keeping the Rhino and Gorilla Legend Beasts under imprisonment in her base.

After the Ice Hunters are accidentally awaken by Scorm, they began freezing the Crawlers. Spinlyn attempts to fight back, but was easily frozen and captured with the rest of her tribe.

A Very Slippery Slope[]

When Flinx begins using his powers to unfreeze everyone captured by the Hunters, Spinlyn was freed along with the rest of her tribe. She then trapped Tormak in her webs before tending to her appearance. She then took part in attacking the heroes with the rest of the Crawlers, but was easily defeated by Crominus, Crunket and Lagravis, with her tooth being broken again in the process. When Flinx sends the Crawlers out of the Hunter Glacier, Spinlyn saves them with her webs.

“And between you and me, that's one creature who needs a lot more than dental work, if you know what I'm saying.”
Plovar to Cragger and Worriz about Spinlyn, "Tooth or Consequences"

Spinlyn possesses a drider-like anatomy. Her upper body features black fur, intricate golden markings, and ornate spider-themed armor. The armor includes a golden spider-shaped chest piece layered over a Chi harness, paired with a skeletal decorative band around her waist. Her head is crowned with pointed golden ornaments, and two prominent white fangs protrude from her mouth. The lower portion of her frame consists of a dark-brown abdomen from which six long, jointed, reddish-brown segmented legs extend. Each leg tapers into a sharp, curved claw.

Trivia

Trivia[]

  • Spinlyn had her tooth chipped in "A Tangled Web," which is currently the only injury shown on-screen that isn't used for comedy. Additionally, it's the only injury portrayed in the series to remain permanent and not be healed.
  • Spinlyn's chest-piece resembles a hanging spider.
  • In the short, "The Web and the Sting," Spinlyn is shown favoring strategy over brutality.
  • Like Vardy, Spinylyn acts as the more cool-headed second in command to the main antagonist of their respective arc.
  • Ironically, despite being considered the most beautiful of spiders, Spinlyn is (if Sparratus' bio and her appearance are of any indication) the least evolved member of her tribe.
  • "Into the Outlands" is the only episode of the second season she doesn't appear in.
