The Phoenix has Landed is the twelfth episode of the third season of Legends of Chima and the 38th episode overall.

Plot

Plot[]

Atop Spiral Mountain, the Ice Hunters are preparing for Fangar's wedding when Li'Ella is once more demanding they free her, Maula sees this but Vardy tells her that no one can hear her so no one is coming to help since the villages are too far away. VoomVoom and Vornon are decorating when Fangar comes up to Vardy about his wardrobe saying it's not fit for a King but Vardy tells him this is for his wedding and he shouldn't look so tough while marrying Li'Ella so he has to wear something formal and nice looking, Fangar then tries to go to Li'Ella but Vardy stops him saying it's bad luck to see his bride before the wedding, Vardy says he will see her in a little bit as he tells him the wedding is ready to start and so the Mammoths start playing wedding music with their trunks. Just then, Eris shows up in her Eagle Flyer and crashes the wedding, Laval, Cragger, Rogon and Worriz then show up as well on their Speedorz and start taking down the Mammoth Mechs and trying to get Li'Ella out safely, Fangar orders his Hunters to fight back against the tribes and are able to cut the tow cables they are using but the tribes have back ups, Mottrot then eats a Chi orb saying he will make the hurting this time and cuts the rest of the cables but this backfires as the momentum from the unraveling hits his fellow Hunters and knocking them off their Speedorz. VoomVoom and Vornon then throw exploding Ice plants at the tribes, one hits around Worriz causing him to drop his weapon while the other is kicked back to them by Rogon and explodes in VoomVoom's hands, Cragger is being chased by two Hunters but Laval saves him and they attach more cables to the Mammoth vehicle and begin tugging it but Fangar picks up a sword, a shield, Worriz' weapon and eats a Chi orb and breaks the cables once more but this causes the Mammoth vehicle to tip over and start sliding off the mountain with Fangar saying they should've just eloped, Laval throws Li'Ella his sword and a Fire Chi orb so she can free herself but the vehicle slides off the mountain and Laval thinks Li'Ella went with it but she was just hanging off the side and Laval pulls her up. On Eris' Eagle Flyer, they are flying away and Li'Ella thanks Laval for rescuing her from Fangar, Laval then says he does seem to have strange ideas about romance and Li'Ella says it wasn't a tour of his city of a ride on the Legend Beast, this upsets Laval thinking Li'Ella didn't enjoy those things back when he showed her Lion City and the Lion Legend Beast but Li'Ella says she is just messing with him and is just glad to be free, she then expresses excitement about seeing her father Tormak but Laval needs to tell her something about Tormak first.

Fluminox is looking at the stand where the Artifact was and once again asks how Tormak could do this, Flinx comes in and comforts his father sorry for Tormak leaving, Fluminox calls Tormak his most trusted friend to which Flinx said they all trusted him, Fluminox then says Tormak swore to protect them but has now doomed them, he flashes back to the night he took the Artifact while explaining to Flinx that the Phoenix ensured the Artifact would never leave their custody, but sadly Tormak did not know this and so when he took it that night to try and give it to Fangar, the Artifact exploded and charred Tormak into a Panther because of the protective charm it had and says it became an exploding sun and incinerated everything all around including the Artifact itself destroying it, and burning Tormak. Flinx then asks his father if he is okay, Fluminox says he has not wept in thousands of years, not since he lost his eight Phoenix brethren in the Great Illumination he was meant to be apart of, he says it was devastating but this is somehow worse and Flinx promises to make his father proud by making things right by finding Tormak and defeating the Ice Hunters, he says he will find his spark, and with or without the Artifact he will heal all of Chima. Fluminox tells him no but Flinx goes anyway with his father pleading him to stay, but he heads out on his Speedor when he spots two Vulture jets but they mysteriously vanish, he then hops off and starts shouting to the Hunters that he saw their jets, but as he is walking, the Ice is melting revealing to him that he is standing right above the Gorge of Eternal Depth in the Fangs, he then calls for his dad but he is too late as the Ice melts and breaks through, causing Flinx to fall down into the Gorge, he tries to fly out but his wings have still not fully grown yet, he tries to gloat over how he is the son of the Phoenix and the greatest Phoenix that ever lived but is interrupted when he reaches the bottom and the debris falls around him while exclaiming "uh oh".

Fangar then notes how ironic it is that Flinx fell into the camouflaged trap and Strainor reminds him the tribes of Chima did the same thing to their Ice Fortress, Fangar then orders his Ice Hunters to seal up the hole so that Flinx can't get out and tells the Phoenix to feel their freeze. Li'Ella then returns to the Phoenix Temple with Laval and Eris to see Fluminox about her father but he tells them that Flinx is in trouble, they ask what happened, he says he went out to face the Hunters but found himself trapped in the Gorge of Eternal Depth, it is then revealed that Phoenixes can feel each other's emotions which is how Fluminox knows where Flinx is and Li'Ella mentions Tormak again. After betraying the Phoenix, Tormak fled into the Outlands seeking solitude for his actions and regrets having betrayed them but says he had no choice has he only did it for Li'Ella, the Predator Plants try to bite at him but because of the aura around him, they can't penetrate it, he then sits down on a rock in the middle of their fields hoping to remain hidden, Li'Ella then says they must find her father and bring him back and Fluminox says they will but first they must rescue his son to which they agree on, Cragger is then coming up the hill when Laval tells him to get in the Flying Temple as they are going to get Flinx. Cragger calls the vessel the biggest flying thing he has ever seen but Eris says the Eagle Jets are still better, Foltrax proves her wrong by performing a few tricks and maneuvers as they head to Flinx. Laval asks again what happened and Fluminox says Flinx was trying to soothe his father's simmering spirit after what happened with Tormak, he says he should've halted his ill-formed schemes, but his own self pity trammeled his better judgement which Cragger questions, but Fluminox then says Flinx challenged the entirety Ice Hunter tribes alone, Laval mentions the time Flinx destroyed the Ice Fortress and Eris asks how anyone can contain him since he is super powered, Fluminox says that with enough Ice and enough troops, anything can be contained, even a Legend Beast or the Phoenix.

Flinx is down in the Gorge shivering exclaiming that he never felt this cold before, Fluminox now over the Gorge, tells Foltrax to open fire on the Ice but this causes the Gorge to shake and bring down more debris onto Flinx who calls out for his father to stop firing, Fluminox feels this call and tells Foltrax to stop as Flinx said if they keep shooting the Ice, it will flood the Gorge of Eternal Depth with Flinx in it and so they stop, but Laval suggests they don't need to fire, he says the Ice is just thin enough for them to try and fly through the Gorge and get to Flinx, Fluminox reminds Laval that this is still his ship, not Laval's but orders Foltrax to do it anyway, he, Firox and Frax then shout "BLAZIN' TIME!" as they make a big enough hole in the Ice for the Flying Temple to slip through and they make their way down to Flinx, however, Fangar takes this opportunity to freeze the hole back up and orders his Hunters to give them everything they have so they can freeze the Gorge again. Foltrax pilots the Flying Temple further down into the Gorge and flies through a tunnel where Laval asks if they will even fit, Foltrax says there is only one way to find out as they make their way to the end of the tunnel and break through to the other side where they find Flinx who tried to warn them not to do it as the cave was too small, but they get through and Flinx reunites with Fluminox, Flinx apologizes to his father saying he was only trying to bring him peace, Fluminox tells him he knows, but no words or deeds could ever accord him more joy than cradling him in his arms once again. Flinx is surprised by this as he says his father has not hugged him for thousands of years, Fluminox says he regrets this most of all. Cragger breaks up this reunion saying it's nice but if they don't get out of there, the Hunters will have all of them trapped and so they board the Flying Temple and make their escape out of the Gorge.

As they are making their escape, Fangar up top notices they are coming and tells the Ice Hunters to give them all they got, they toss rocks down the Gorge, Cragger says this isn't looking good, Foltrax says it's not but rather it's great, they are continuing their climb when the Mammoths above break the Fang rocks and throw them down the Gorge, Fluminox orders Foltrax to melt the Ice but Foltrax says that is the least of their problems as he says the Hunters are throwing half the rocks in Chima down onto them, after a few hits, the Flying Temple crashes back down into the Gorge of Eternal Depth burying them, Laval then sees the doorway and tells everyone to get out, they then make it out and are looking for anyway to get out, Li'Ella then says the Hunters will crash them if they don't get out and Cragger says they are absolutely stuck down there and it would take a miracle to get out, but surprisingly, ShadoWind aka Lavertus shows himself in front of them and Laval sees his uncle asking if it's really him, Lavertus says yes it is and then pulls out a Golden Chi orb and says he can help them get out, or can he?

Trivia[]

  • In a certain segment of Sir Fangar's sabotage, the heroes use a series of chains wrapped around the Mammoth Mechs to make it collapse. This is a reference to the famous Hoth Battle scene in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.
  • In this episodes Flinx's spark grows stronger making his wings the size of child that he is.
  • When Flinx melts and fall in the gorge he tries to fly but he wasn't able to. This maybe the reason because his wings aren't developed fully. The other reason is because of the gorge, gorge pulls everything downward. As Eris said in the Episode "Balancing Act."

Errors[]

  • Flinx lands in the middle of the gorge, which doesn't make sense because he was falling at the edge.
