“If you can hear me, if there is anyone out there listening. This is Master Wu. Our home is under attack. Enemies roam our streets. They hope to destroy all that is good and drive us into darkness. But I am here to tell you: They will fail! We are not fearful! We are stronger than they know and we will retake our city! The news never sleeps! To anyone listening out there, you are now honorary ninja, and ninja never quit!”

The Resistance was a rebellion formed by Wu and the paperboys to fight against the crystal army. Though unaffiliated with Lloyd's Resistance from years earlier, it would serve a similar yet greater purpose, as the ninja and their allies convene to fight the Overlord and his council and army to fulfill the final prophecy. Initially, the ninja were greatly outnumbered, as they're joined by Garmadon, Skylor, P.I.X.A.L., Misako, Ronin, Ultra Violet and Killow. As a result, Cole and Nya send distress calls to old allies, while Wu tries rallying the people of Ninjago to fight against the Overlord's occupation.

During their final stand outside the newspaper warehouse, the crystal army gradually infects many of the ninja's allies. Yet at the height of their desperation, a legion of allies come together - Benthomaar and Vania arrive with the armies of Merlopia and Shintaro, along with Milton Dyer's creations, the ninja's parents, the Serpentine, and more old friends and former foes. United, they defeat the Overlord's armies and generals, and in the skies above Lloyd vanquished the Overlord once more.

Quittin' Time![]

With the ninja separated and Ninjago City overrun by the crystal army, the Resistance was formed by the paperboys, who began to rescue anyone that survived the crystal infection and gave them shelter in the newspaper warehouse, like Wu. Wu insisted the paperboys on evacuating Ninjago City, but after seeing their bravery when they defeated the Vengestone Guards to save Jake's parents, he overturned the evacuation and became the leader of the Resistance, and vowed that they will take Ninjago City back from the Overlord.

Return of the Ice Emperor[]

Antonia escorts some citizens, including Misako, to the warehouse, where the latter shows Wu the Dragon Form scroll. Meanwhile, as P.I.X.A.L. finds Zane in his Ice Emperor persona, and are almost attacked by Vengestone Guards, Ronin, Ultra Violet, Killow and Fugi-Dove arrive to their rescue on a prison bus, and drive them to Borg Tower to get repairs for Zane.

Safe Haven[]

Skylor arrives in Ninjago City and saves Kai and Cole from Pythor and his army of Vengestone Guards. As the trio escape and find their way into Benny's Arcade Emporium, they find Jake all by himself. As Skylor receives a radio transmit of Wu's message, they decide to escort Jake to the newspaper warehouse for safety. Meanwhile, Lloyd and Garmadon are searching for the Serpentine in their library, in hopes of allying with them against the Overlord's forces. When Kai, Skylor, Cole and Jake are ambushed by many crystal zombies, the paperboys are able to defeat them, and help get them to the warehouse. Upon Jake reuniting with his parents, Wu is also reunited with Kai, Cole and Skylor, and head off to begin planning their next move.

Cole manages to get the radio at the warehouse working, allowing Wu to reach out to Jay and Nya, Lloyd and Garmadon, and P.I.X.A.L.. At Borg Tower, Ultra Violet, Killow, and Fugi-Dove customize some of Cyrus Borg's mechs in order to prepare themselves against the Overlord. At the same time, Wu asks Cole to ask for help from Vania and the Army of Shintaro, so Vinny offers to use the Ninjago News Center building to send a message to the Kingdom of Shintaro, with Blazey offering to drive Cole and Vinny there in the latter's van. As Zane awakes from his comatose-like state, P.I.X.A.L calls for MiniPix Seven to send her Ninja Ultra Combo Mech to her coordinates, as the group plans to meet back at the warehouse.

Distress Calls[]

Jay and Nya drive to Ninjago Harbor so that Nya can transmit a message to Benthomaar and the Maaray Guards via the Endless Sea. At the same time, Lloyd and Garmadon try to search for any Serpentine, but are ambushed by crystal-infected Hypnobrai, and Blazey drives Cole and Vinny to the Ninjago News Center, avoiding dozens of Vengestone Guards along the way. As they make it there, Vinny records Cole as he sends his message to Vania, before the trio get attacked by Dragonides. They all later regroup at the warehouse to make another plan to save Ninjago City.

An Issue of Trust[]

The ninja and their allies all reunite at the warehouse, where they hear about Dragon Form, and the paperboys watch them attempt it, only to fail, until Nelson found the solution, by folding the scroll to realize that the ninja's allies must reunite in order to achieve Dragon Form. However, Cyrus Borg informs the Resistance that the entire crystal army, are on their way to the warehouse, so the Ninja, Ronin, Ultra Violet, Killow and Fugi-Dove prepare to engage in the final conflict, while Lloyd and Garmadon take the fight towards the Overlord at the Crystal Island.

Dragon Form[]

Lloyd and Garmadon ending up confronting the Overlord head-on, while the Resistance try to hold off the crystal army, Ultra Violet, Killow and Ronin end up crystalized and it felt like a losing battle, until Benthomaar, riding Zippy, Glutinous, the Merlopians, the Keepers, Vania, Chompy, the Army of Shintaro, Munce, Geckles, Upply, Milton Dyer, Unagami, Scott, Okino, the Red Visors, Whack Rats, Gayle Gossip, Vinny Folson, Ray, Maya, Lou, Ed, Edna, Dareth, Sally, her parents, Skales and the Hypnobrai arrive to help, giving the original ninja the opportunity to achieve Dragon Form, defeat the Council of the Crystal King and reclaim the Golden Weapons, weakening the warriors. However, as they celebrate in victory, Aspheera warns them their victory is short-lived as the Overlord will corrupt the powers of Creation and proclaims her promise of revenge, only to be frozen solid by Zane.

Roots[]

Lloyd and Garmadon, with the help of Harumi, who learns of the Overlord's true motives, try to stop him from infecting Ninjago, but all three of them end up being eventually overpowered. Meanwhile, having already lost the battle, the ninja in the Dragon Forms proceed to combine their Golden Weapons in a drastic attempt to prevent the Overlord from accumulating the powers of Creation. The rest of the Resistance watch from above as the blast from the weapons clash with the blast above from the Crystal Island. Ultimately, the ninja end up being crystalized, and the Golden Ultra Dragon is summoned. Lloyd rides the dragon to fight the Overlord and ends up defeating him, thus ending his reign over Ninjago and freeing everyone from his power. As Lloyd, Garmadon and Harumi escape the collapsing Crystal Island, the Resistance all watch and cheer as they witness its destruction, and peace returns to Ninjago again. The ninja, Wu, Nya, Misako, P.I.X.A.L, Skylor, Garmadon and Harumi all reunite, while they witness the Golden Ultra Dragon. Later on, the members of the Resistance, with the help of other citizens, assist the ninja in the reconstruction of the Monastery of Spinjitzu.

  • This is the second resistance formed to defend Ninjago City from an invading force. The first was the one from Hunted to confront Emperor Garmadon and the SOG.
    • This is also the third resistance formed overall, with the first being the one from Hunted, and the second formed in the Never-Realm in Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu.
    • This is also the first resistance not to be formed by the ninja nor led by Lloyd, but rather led by Master Wu while it was formed by the paperboys.
    • This is also the first and so far the only resistance that wasn't directly referred as such in the show.
