The classic Ninja continue their journey to the Abyss of Eternal Night. Their new ally carries the Weapon of Desolation, but its unseen hold over him grows. Back in Ninjago, delegates arrive on the eve of the summit, and tensions are high. The young Ninja have their first advantage over the Loyalists - if Sora can master technology without her power.

Plot

The episode begins with Zilvar experiencing a flashback to his home, where his family was playing with a red ball. The peaceful memory shatters as the ground violent quakes and cracks open. As Zilvar desperately reaches out for Mei, another person stumbles into him, causing him to watch helplessly as Mei falls into the chasm. Zilvar abruptly awakens from the nightmare next to a sleeping Nya and Zane. Looking down at the Weapon of Desolation, its eyes glow red as it telepathically manipulates him, urging him to save his people and make up for his past failure. Jay, who is driving the vehicle, notices Zilvar waking up in distress and asks if he had a nightmare. Zilvar brushes it off as "just a dream". Jay complains about driving the graveyard shift to the Abyss of Eternal Night, expressing how eager he is to dispose of the weapon. Zilvar outwardly agrees that it must be destroyed, despite the weapon's lingering influence in his mind.

In the courtyard of the Monastery of Spinjitzu, Frak wishes Lloyd to help him to train how performed his Spinjitzu while Sora demonstrate it. Sora wonders why General Cryptor and the Loyalists would target Beatrix while she is in a coma. They vent about having no clues regarding the Loyalists' endgame and worry since Euphrasia, Riyu, and Wyldfyre have not reported back in hours. Frak points out that tracking down their enemies is especially difficult because the Loyalist masks allow them to blend in and hide anywhere in plain sight. Sora's parents arrive to offer tea to Frak and Sora. Sora is pleasantly surprised to find her father remembered to add honey to her tea, leading to a touching moment of connection between her and her parents. Jenny and Barry pull Arin aside to reveal their suspicion that Sora's parents might be Loyalists. Jenny explains that she saw what appeared to be a Loyalist mask in one of their bags, which later vanished. Arin is hesitant to believe it, noting how hard Sora has worked to reconnect with her parents. He points out that an unproven accusation could destroy their trust, but acknowledges that if true, everyone is in danger. Barry agrees to gather solid proof before taking action. Sora's father approaches to offer Arin tea, causing Arin to act overly nervous and awkwardly over-compliment him. Sora joins them, expressing her frustration with being behind on the Loyalists' plans. She then receives a call from Wyldfyre, who tells her to drop everything because they have located the action.

At the Crossroads, Zeatrix corners Fedulian behind a wall to demand information on the Loyalists and her twin, threatening him with her Shockwave power. Fedulian breaks and reveals that the Loyalist plot is named "Operation Mentax." He notes they have collected all necessary components for an unpredictable, imminent move, though he doesn't know its exact purpose. Zeatrix contacts Sora to share the name "Operation Mentax". Sora doesn't recognize the name but mentions they have a breakthrough of their own: Arin acquired a Loyalist communicator to listen in on their transmissions. Zeatrix points out that the communicator uses old Imperium technology with a biometric lock, which only authorizes registered Loyalists and relies on lost bypass keys from House Vespasian. Arin confidentially dismisses this issue, relying instead on Sora's abilities as the Elemental Master of Technology to bypass the system.

Outside the Old Town Hotel, Percival and Roby double-check the summit arrangements, confirming that sacred mud for the Land of Madness delegates has arrived and two-day-old porridge for the Umbrasilvans is ready. Percival worries that a minor mistake could cause an international incident, but Roby reassures him that the summit will succeed, especially with the ninja providing security. Percival greets arriving delegates, including the Acona from the Whispering Wood. Frak spots Arrakore, who explains that as Djinjago's sole permanent resident, he was the natural choice to serve as delegate. When Percival expresses his "wish" for a successful summit, Arrakore responds with dry humor about "wish comedy." The Pontifex Magicus arrives on a magic carpet guarded by two wizard guards to crowd applause, prompting Wyldfyre to marvel at his large ceremonial hat. Baron Frye and the Umbrasilvan delegation arrive, and Baron Frye immediately takes offense to the Pontifex Magicus's headgear. By Umbrasilvan tradition, no one is allowed to wear headgear larger than the Grand Chancellor's. To restore his honor, Baron Frye orders a guard to crank his headgear to make it taller. Not to be outdone, the Pontifex Magicus uses magic to grow his hat even higher. Declaring the action an affront, Baron Frye orders his guards to deploy "pointy battle sticks," while the Pontifex Magicus commands his wizards to arm themselves with crystal staff weapons, causing Percival's feared "major incident" to break out.

While continuing their journey with Zilvar, The original ninja encounter difficult terrain. Kai's Combiner Bike loses traction and cannot drive up the incline. Cole teases Kai before stepping in to assist, prompting both to press buttons on their vehicles to swap halves and overcome the obstacle. The Land Bounty also struggles to make the climb. Jay, Lloyd, and Nya step out, with Nya using her powers to blast through the blocking terrain. As Nya investigates the way forward, Scorpions creature suddenly emerge and roar, catching the group off guard.

In the hangar bay, Sora attempts to use her powers on the Loyalist comms device, but she vents her frustration as her powers are still unstable. Arin acknowledges how frustrating it is and reassures Sora that he believes she can handle it. Sora decides to try hacking the device the old-fashioned way since her powers aren't working, remarking that they can't force LaRow or any other Loyalist to activate it for them. Rather than having a sudden epiphany, Arin simply sighs and agrees with Sora's sentiment.

As the standoff between Pontifex Magicus and Baron Frye continues, Euphrasia tries to calm both sides down by complimenting their hats. Baron Frye declares that the feud is about honor, stating "all wizards are liars," while Pontifex Magicus claims it is about respect. Ignoring Frak's hesitation, Wyldfyre confronts Baron Frye directly to ask why he hates magicians. Baron Frye recounts how a wizard named Salazar the Eloquent sold him fake "magic beans" as a child that were actually soul lice eggs, forcing him to shave his head. Pontifex Magicus recognizes Salazar of Belonia as a notorious charlatan who once scammed him with a goose that laid softboiled eggs instead of golden ones. Bonded by their mutual hatred of Salazar, Baron Frye and Pontifex Magicus declare each other brothers and leave together to share mold elderberry juice and complain about the con man. Percival is relieved that a major incident was avoided, and Frak expresses surprise that Wyldfyre successfully defused a confrontation using words rather than starting a fight. Afterwards, Roby jumps into Wyldfyre's arms, and she carries him away. While walking together down a street in Ninjago City, Roby apologizes for not having time to hang out, but Wyldfyre remarks on how time-consuming leadership responsibilities are. To make it up to her, Roby reveals he got her a surprise gift. Though Wyldfyre initially says simply spending time together is enough, she changes her tune when he mentions he brought a mech. Roby takes her to see the Transforming Dragon Mech, which is guarded by a Security Bot. He demonstrates its custom feature by pressing a button to transform the mech into dragon mode, explaining that he had it custom-designed to match her spirit since she was raised by dragons. Thrilled by the custom gift, Wyldfyre runs excitedly toward her new mech.

Struggling and failing to repair the biometrically locked Loyalist comms device in frustration, Sora despairs that Zeatrix was right about it being a dead end. Seeing her distress, Arin reluctantly suggests another option to access the Loyalists who could unlock the device: her parents. He explains that his own parents spotted what looked like a Loyalist mask among their things. Though hurt that her parents' recent attempts to rebuild their relationship might be a lie, Sora agrees to go with Arin to confront them. They heading to the kitchen, where Sora's parents are baking sea salt brownies from the Land of Lee. When Sora reveals that Arin suspects they are Loyalists who can unlock the device, her parents react with anger and offense. Sora's mother slams down a tray, appalled that people in the monastery view them as masked criminals, while her father accuses Arin of poisoning Sora's mind with lies. Her parents storm out of the kitchen in anger. Arin tries to apologize, but an upset Sora refuses to hear it, furious with him for jeopardizing the fragile reconciliation with her parents. She walks away, leaving Arin overwhelmed with guilt.
