Overview
The magical flutes[1] are instruments used by the Forbidden Five in order to collect souls for Thunderfang's ritual.
History
History[]
After Thunderfang died and was sent to the Spectral Lands, he took control of the Forbidden Five's ghosts and had them use the flutes to gather souls from all over the Merged Lands in his goal to become a Source Dragon.
After hollowing some of the Imperians and Cole, Nokt fought against Kai and Frak. During the fight, Kai hit Nokt's flute, causing it to release some of the souls stored within.
After Thunderfang got enough souls for his ritual, the Forbidden Five stopped using the flutes.
Abilities
Abilities[]
- Soul absorption - The magical flutes have the ability to absorb the soul of another individual. However, they don't have an ability to rip off the soul from a body, as the Spectral Dragonians are needed for this.
- Soul Carrier - The magical flutes can store absorbed souls inside them.
Weaknesses
Weaknesses[]
- Reveal Blades - If a magical flute is hit by a Reveal Blade, it can release some of the souls stored within it.

Trivia
Trivia[]
- The magical flutes are now the second type of rare flute introduced into the Ninjago franchise. The first was the Sacred Flutes, which first appeared in "Home" and can be used to control the Serpentine.
- In "The Big Clean-Up," both Gandalaria and the ninja were shown to be aware of the flutes and their properties, with Gandalaria being as the flutes' owner. However, this conflicts with the episodes of the show, where Gandalaria appears unfamiliar with the flute and its effects.
