Background[]

Johnny resided in the Kingdom of Imperium as an Imperian in the civil servant class during Empress Beatrix's rule and remained loyal to her even after the Liberation of Imperium despite her murder of her father, cruelty towards others, and near destruction of the Merged Lands, as her dethronement led to the kingdom's decline. Johnny at some point joined a society called the Loyalists, determined to help Beatrix reclaim Imperium and restore it to glory.^[1] The Loyalists were tasked with going undercover among organizations in the Merged Realms; Johnny went undercover as a member of the Explorer's Club, apparently participating in numerous adventures alongside Reginald Slitherbottom and his team.^[2]

When the Elemental Monsters emerged, Johnny received orders to analyze one of the creatures in order to locate the Weapon of Desolation. When a Mutation Monster was on the loose in Umbrasilvis, the Explorer's Club dispatched Johnny and his fellow members to Umbrasilvis to capture the rogue monster, and he cleverly leveraged the mission to further his objectives.^[1]

The Lean of a Tree[]

When Sora, Frak, Wyldfyre, and Riyu arrived in Umbrasilvis, Johnny was watching the other explorers.

Tonight We Hunt Monsters[]

As Sora, Riyu, Frak, and Wyldfyre came across Reginald, he introduced himself and his colleagues, which included Johnny. Johnny recognized Frak's name and remarked how often Reginald had mentioned him, even recalling a humorous moment when Reginald referred to a slug creature they had once hired as "Frak." The ninja requested the Explorer's Club to transport them back to Ninjago, but Reginald insisted that they first needed to capture the Mutation Monster that was wreaking havoc in Umbrasilvis. Sora and Wyldfyre found it peculiar that the Explorer's Club was willing to bring such a dangerous creature to Ninjago, but Johnny reassured them of their capabilities.

After some time, Johnny and the Explorer's Club were equipped with Lariat Launchers to help in the hunt for the Mutation Monster, splitting up to get naming right. During their search, the ninja encountered the creature, which then dashed into Johnny and the rest of the Explorer's Club, who were unable to secure it.

A Wonder of the Merged Lands[]

With the Mutation Monster contained, Johnny set out to inform the ninja and Umbrasilvans. However, he discovered that they were busy caring for Riyu, who had been poisoned during the monster's attack. Harboring disdain for dragons, Johnny couldn't help but be disgusted, questioning why they were still tending to Riyu, whom he referred to as a beast. This remark angered them, leading Sora to remind Johnny that Riyu had saved everyone, labeling Johnny as an uptight wad. Although Johnny felt offended by the comment, he proceeded to explain that the Mutation Monster had been secured in the Expanding Frontier for future study and display. However, his dismissive attitude led the Umbrasilvans to drag him out of the windmill in frustration.

Later, when Frak and Sora arrived at the Expanding Frontier to collect Elemental Energy from the captured monster, they stumbled upon a celebration hosted by the Explorer's Club, where Johnny was enthusiastically playing the drums. During this, he seemingly struck Gweeg with one of his drumsticks by accident, and as he cheered for Reginald alongside the other club members, he hit Gweeg again. Afterward, Johnny then released the Mutation Monster from its cage, allowing it to rampage freely as he aimed to study its behavior, hoping to uncover the whereabouts of the Weapon of Desolation.

Seed and Soil[]

While searching for the Mutation Monster in the airship, Frak encountered Johnny, who was in his Loyalist outfit, much to his surprise. Seeing this, Frak questioned the if he is the one who released the Mutation Monster, only for Johnny to push him and ran away.

While Frak and Wyldfyre were fighting against the Mutation Monster, the creature transformed into a more monstrous form, which Johnny witnessed from a top of the building.

After Riyu defeated the Mutation Monster, Johnny silently observed the outcome before leaving the place.

Just Under the Surface[]

After the Mutation Monster's disappearance, Johnny came out of the Expanding Frontier with Rowan and Reginald to inform the ninja that they are leaving. However, they were stopped by the Grand Inquisitor, who said that Umbrasilvis is in lockdown until the culprit who released the monster is found, which made the Umbrasilvans cheer as Johnny and the others looked at them in confusion.

The Grand Inquisition[]

During the Inquisition, Johnny was in the crowd with the other Explorer's Club members, where his "innocence" was proven by Reginald thanks to the Explorer's Club logbook. When Frak said that they didn't even know that the stupid logbook even existed, Johnny booed at them with Umbrasilvans. After the Inquisition, Johnny and the other Explorer's Club members gathered around Reginald as Sora and Frak went to the Expanding Frontier to find clues that belongs to the culprit.

After getting his device from the airship, Johnny went to the Tree of Burdens to retrieve the fragment of the Weapon of Desolation in his Loyalist outfit, not knowing that Sora and Frak are watching him. After Johnny scanned the tree and retrieved the fragment from its core, Frak revealed himself, thinking that the Loyalist is actually his dad. Noticing the ninja, Johnny tried to flee from there while shooting at them with his Imperium Sword, only to get pinned to the ground by Reginald, who unmasked Johnny. Then, Sora wiped his face, revealing that Johnny is actually an Imperian, much to her shock, asking what he got from the tree. In response, Johnny wanted Reginald to tell Sora that he doesn't speak to traitors, saying that she helped Imperium to fall. After Frak touched the fragment and his powers went to haywire, Johnny tried to escape taking this opportunity, only for Sora to capture him by using his Imperium Sword. After Reginald gave fragment to Sora in a handkerchief, the ninja leaved the place to turn Johnny in.

As the Grand Inquisitor was about to declare Sora and Frak guilty, the ninja arrived with Johnny, proving that Johnny is the culprit by showing what he got from the Tree of Burdens. Seeing this, the Grand Inquisitor was in "shock" and declared Johnny as guilty. Then he exonerated Sora and Frak, lifted the lockdown, and concluded the Inquisition, all while hinting that Johnny should take his cane, which he did. After the Grand Inquisitor revealed he is also a Loyalist, the ninja charged towards them, only for Johnny to press a button on the Inquisitor's cane, releasing smoke that allowed both of them to escape with the Expanding Frontier.

After the Loyalist assault[]

Johnny was one of the Loyalists who evaded capture after Beatrix failed to retake Imperium. He then infiltrated the Imperium Guards. After Dr. LaRow was arrested, she instructed Johnny to send messages to the remaining Loyalists to stop the Summit of the Merged Lands.

Dangerous Connections[]

After the Loyalists failed to thwart the Summit of the Merged Lands, Johnny was arrested and taken to Imperium Prison.

Trivia

Trivia[]

One of the Loyalists that was in the call at the end of "The Whispering Wood" shares the same voice actor as him, although it is unclear if the casting was an intentional appearance of Johnny or a coincidence.
He claimed that he had legally changed his name, but it remains unclear whether he was referring to his full name or just his last name. It's also unknown if his claim about his name being changed was fabricated during his time at the Explorer's Club.^[2]
