Plot

Plot[]

Mr. Frohicky and Geo carried soup through the Monastery of Spinjitzu, where Mr. Frohicky praised Geo's cooking skills while noting his poor floor-polishing abilities. They joined the Finders and Rontu, who was still recovering well after nearly losing hope. While Mr. Frohicky credited a healing broth for her recovery, Rontu claimed it was her spiritual experience that had given her a renewed sense of purpose. When Cole arrived, Geo explained that cooking at the monastery required gathering ingredients the traditional way rather than relying on the strange resources of the Land of Lost Things. Their conversation was interrupted when Jenny and Barry arrived with alarming news about a Fire Monster attacking the Crossroads. When Jenny and Barry characterized the Fire Monster as an Energy Monster, Cole suspected it was related to Ras' theft of a scroll concerning energy containment, so he set off to investigate. There, he found a Loyalist scanning the area with a device. The Loyalist fled when spotted, leading Cole on a chase. During the pursuit, boxes were knocked onto him, trapping him. By the time civilians helped free him, the Loyalist had escaped. Injured and frustrated, Cole realized the attack might be part of a much larger mystery.

Jay and Nya continued their kiss, but Kai's impatience grew during their emotional reunion. After they finished, Kai recalled several incidents of Jay's past to see if he remembered them. While Jay managed to regain many memories, he realized that some, particularly the one regarding who had erased his memories, remained elusive. Notably, he suddenly recollected his childhood pet turtle, Mr. Slowthers, causing him to break down, as he had lost the turtle and was never able to catch up with him. Nya, however, reminded them that they still needed to escape since the Administration Agents and Robo Eliminators were in pursuit. Just then, the Administration Agents noted reports of another Elemental Monster in the Land of Madness and began preparing a convoy to respond. Seizing this opportunity, Jay, Kai, and Nya quietly concealed themselves under the Transforming Car, hoping it would help them slip past security and continue their escape.

Meanwhile, Lloyd continued his Ritual of Unrooting. As he fell, he witnessed a vision of a tree root being unable to reach the water below, and it began to wither. The surrounding roots shared their energy and water, helping the struggling root survive and eventually thrive alongside the others. When the vision ended, Lloyd demanded an explanation from Young Lloyd, but instead encountered Tween Lloyd, who revealed that he represented the years Lloyd had skipped because of the Tomorrow's Tea. Realizing who he was meeting, Lloyd understood that his journey would require him to confront the paths he had never taken.

At the outside of the Temple of the Green Ninja, Arin helps Euphrasia practice her Spinjitzu while worrying about Lloyd, who has remained inside the Whispering Wood throughout the night. Euphrasia encourages him to focus on what he can control instead of dwelling on Lloyd's absence. As Arin demonstrates proper Spinjitzu technique, Zane notices unusual red streaks within Arin's tornado. Arin becomes concerned that his training under Ras may have somehow corrupted his Spinjitzu, but Zane reassures him that there is no immediate cause for alarm and decides to study the phenomenon further. Before they can investigate, the Acona arrive in a panic, warning of an emergency. Although Euphrasia hesitates to leave Lloyd behind, Zane decides they must accompany the Acona to help, promising they will return afterward.

Elsewhere, the Administration Agents confront the Loyalist, whom they accused of filing a false report upon seeing there was no Elemental Monsters in sight. In retaliation, the Lead Loyalist gave a signal, revealing that some of the agents were undercover Loyalists. The Lead Loyalist orders an attack on the Administration. Hidden nearby, Kai, Jay, and Nya witness the confrontation but remain out of sight to learn the Loyalists' true objective. Once the Administration Agents retreat, the Loyalists use their Master Mechs to smash through a rock wall, uncovering a hidden cave. Declaring that they have found what they were searching for, they enter in pursuit of the weapon piece, intending to deliver it to Beatrix. Realizing that Beatrix could use the artifact to trigger another catastrophe like the MergeQuakes, Kai, Jay, and Nya follow the Loyalists into the cave to prevent it from falling into her hands.

Arin, Euphrasia, Zane, and the Acona return to the treehouse hideout to find the Arc Dragon of Life under attack by Elemental Monsters. As the Acona attempt to drive the creatures away, the dragon continues to weaken and decay as the Whispering Wood deteriorates. Zane, Arin, and Euphrasia join the battle, with Zane using his Spinjitzu and shurikens to fend off the monsters while Arin and Euphrasia fight alongside him. Despite their efforts, the Arc Dragon of Life continues to decay, showing that the forest's decline is rapidly worsening.

Inside the hidden cave, Kai, Jay, and Nya secretly observe the Loyalists as they discover the Tree of Madness, an underground tree growing without sunlight. Using a scanning device, the Loyalists extract a yellow corkscrew-shaped fragment, identifying it as a piece of the Weapon of Desolation, and prepare to deliver it to the Good Empress. As they leave, Jay is suddenly overcome by a recovered memory of one of Cole's old mishaps, causing him to burst into laughter and reveal the trio's presence. The ninjas engage the Loyalists, and Kai seizes the weapon fragment, but the object's immense elemental energy surges through him, triggering an explosion. Although Kai survives, the Loyalists escape with the fragment after trapping the ninja behind a force field. Realizing the artifact amplifies elemental power and could be used by Beatrix for devastating purposes, the ninja resolve to stop the Weapon of Desolation from falling into her hands.

As the battle continues, Arin, Euphrasia, and Zane struggle to hold back the Elemental Monsters while the Whispering Wood continues to decay and the Arc Dragon of Life grows weaker. After discovering that his Object Spinjitzu can overwhelm Elemental Monsters, Arin uses Object Spinjitzu in which Euphrasia continuously throws rocks into his Spinjitzu tornado. The rocks absorb the momentum and energy of his Spinjitzu, allowing him to bombard and defeat the remaining monsters. Exhausted by the effort, Arin collapses, but the Arc Dragon of Life catches him before he falls. Zane is astonished by Arin's unprecedented use of Spinjitzu, noting that it should not have been possible. Although the monsters revert to an energy state, Zane warns that they will eventually return. When the Arc Dragon of Life finally collapses from the Whispering Wood's decline, Zane concludes that Lloyd is their only remaining hope, as the forest will be lost if he fails his trial.

In Umbrasilvis, Wyldfyre, Sora, Frak, and Riyu discuss the elemental energy that transformed Riyu and speculate that the masked intruder who released the monster may have been someone familiar with the Explorers' airship. As the Explorers decide to abandon their expedition and return to Ninjago following the destruction of the Mutation Monster, the ninja prepare to accompany them. Before they can leave, however, the Grand Inquisitor arrives and places Umbrasilvis under total lockdown, declaring that no one may depart until the person responsible for unleashing the monster is identified and punished. Despite Sora's attempts to explain the situation, the Grand Inquisitor refuses to listen, leaving the group stranded in the village.

Back in Ninjago, Percival visits Mr. Frohicky in search of the ninja after Imperium suffers an attack by the Mutation Monster, only to learn about the attack at the Crossroads. Learning that Cole is investigating the incident in the Crossroads, Percival asks Mr. Frohicky to inform him as soon as Cole returns, warning that Imperium cannot withstand many more such attacks. Meanwhile, Cole tracks a Loyalist to their hidden hideout and discovers a much larger operation than he expected. Before he can call for backup, the Loyalists ambush him. Although Cole briefly fights them off, he is stunned from behind and captured alive on the orders of Dr. LaRow, who has him dragged into the hideout.

  • The name could also be a reference to the song of the same name by Venice.

Continuity[]

Errors[]

  • When talking about Jay's fight with Bolobo, Kai mentions that Jay was in his underpants. However, this is incorrect, as during the fight shown in "Only One Can Remain," Jay was completely nude.
    • It is possible that Jay left this part out when he told the others about it but kept the fact that he was nude to himself, so he did not embarrass himself.
  • When posing in Umbrasilvis Riyu's belt can be briefly seen clipping through his waist.
