Overview
Sir Reginald Slitherbottom is Frak's father, a Serpentine archaeologist, and a member of the Explorer's Club.
History
History[]
Background[]
At some point after the Serpentine tribes were freed from their tombs, Reginald and a female Serpentine from the Venomari tribe[1] had a child named Frak. At some point later the family relocated to the neighborhood close to Ninjago City, joining in the human society. During his life, Reginald would take an interest in archaeology and earn two doctorates, one in "Advanced Adventure-Archaeology" and another in "Whip-Crack-ology," giving him two academic titles to his name. He would become renowned as an explorer, facing challenges in the Quicksand Pit of Greater Lamar and the sacred Leviathan Temple, and became the only non-Tide-Folk to ever dance in the ritual fire-waltz ceremony with the Lava-Tides. His feats would ultimately make him the first Serpentine to be admitted into the Explorer's Club.[3] Before the Merge, he and his family moved away from the district where they used to live.
He has a very complicated relationship with his son which is rooted on his desire to build a legacy which not only he, but also his son would be proud of. However, because Reginald lived in a time where the prejudice against Serpentine was intense, he knew he had to work twice as much and twice as long in order to earn any recognition, leading him to put his career over his own family. And the little time he spent with his son, he was mostly controling, perfectionistic and condescending with him, leading Frak to develop resentment towards him.
Cursed![]
The Lean of a Tree[]
Reginald Slitherbottom lead a team of archeologists of the Explorer's Club to capture a Mutation Monster in Umbrasilvis. They used a steampunk airship and were secretly infiltrated by a Loyalist spy named Johnny Courageous. During their monster hunt, he encountered his son Frak. He also frequently bullied a new member of the club named Gweeg.
Apperance
Personality
Personality[]
Just like most of the members of the Explorer's Club, Reginald carries an air of vanity mixed with composure, while also putting his professional accomplishments over anything, even his personal connections, like his own son, Frak. He can also be very condescending and somewhat of a bully to the less accomplished members of his group, as seen with his interactions with his fellow member Gweeg. He is also very adamant to the rules of the club, like using logs for any member of the club that enters the airship or the naming rights for the one that captures a non-discovered creature to the point of risking his and his group's safety.
This uptight and condescending posture is also showed on his own relationship with his son. Not only he prioritized his career over spending time with Frak, leading him to miss many of his important childhood moments, but, whenever they are together, Reginald is showed being controling and a perfectionist towards his son. Not only that, but his condescending attitude causes him to dismiss Frak's ideas and make him feel like he is not good enough, even if this appears to be not intentional from Reginald's part. When Frak was put on trial for being suspected of being connected with the Mutation Monster, Reginald was more concerned in liberating himself and his fellow explorers out of suspition and didn't do any effort to do the same for Frak.
After a heart-to-heart with his son after saving him twice, where Reginald discovered Frak suspected him of being the one responsible for releasing the captured Mutation Monster in order to find a mysterious artifact, the former reveals that his motivation to become a well-respected explorer was so he could build a legacy that would make Frak proud of him as a father. However, due to the pre-existing prejudice against Serpentine, Reginald was forced to work twice as hard and twice as long to prove his worth and gain the recognition he now has. Despite all that, Frak simply couldn't forgive Reginald for choosing to be an explorer instead of a father to him and left on bad terms.

Trivia
Trivia[]
- He has two doctorates. In "Cursed!," he's referred as "Dr. Dr. Reginald Slitherbottom"
- He is the second parent of one of the ninja to also be a member of the Explorer's Club at some point, the first being Misako.
- According to Chris "Doc" Wyatt, Reginald is a Constrictai.[1] However, he has a very different appearance compared to the rest of his tribe, being the only one with pink eyes instead of yellow and long legs.
- Like his son and his mate, he more so resembles a snake warrior.
- Based on the photo Frak has of his parents it seems to suggest he along with his father and mother once lived in the Tomb of the Stone Army since the background and ground match what we saw in "The Curse of the Golden Master".
- This would also match what he told Frak in "The Grand Inquisition" about the prejudice the Serpentine (including himself) endured and wanting to build a legacy his son would be proud of, with his desire to be an explorer being possibly the reason why he and his family moved to Arin's neighborhood and later on moved away.
