The Nunchucks of Lightning were one of the four Golden Weapons created and used by the First Spinjitzu Master to create Ninjago. Years after the Oni's invasion, the Nunchucks of Lightning and the rest of the Golden Weapons were stolen by the Council of the Crystal King for a ritual, being corrupted by Darkness into the Nunchucks of Destruction, and before then being purified by Jay and unified with the other Golden Weapons During the final prophecy of Quanish the Elder.
History
History[]
The Nunchucks were first used by the First Spinjitzu Master along with the other three Golden Weapons to create Ninjago, Imperium, and three other realms after he collected liquid gold from the Golden Peaks and forged it into the Golden Weapons at the Temple of Light.
Later, following the First Spinjitzu Master's death, his sons Garmadon and Wu were tasked with protecting the Nunchucks of Lightning and the rest of the Golden Weapons.
Ghost Story (flashback)[]
After training Morro, Wu laid the Nunchucks of Lightning and the other Golden Weapons before the Elemental Master of Wind. However, the Nunchucks didn't react, revealing Morro was not destined to become the Green Ninja, enraging him.
Battle Between Brothers (flashback)[]
Garmadon would attempt to steal the Golden Weapons, only to be confronted by Wu. In their ensuing battle, the Nunchucks of Lightning was wielded by the elder brother. When Garmadon and Wu slammed the Golden Weapons together, it resulted in an explosion that scattered the two, causing a storm to form above.
Later, Master Wu would hide the Nunchucks of Lightning in the Floating Ruins, tasking the Lightning Dragon Wisp with guarding it and give Ray a map to the locations of them and the other Golden Weapons.
King of Shadows[]
When Master Wu's four ninja, Kai, Cole, Zane, and Jay were searching for the Golden Weapons to prevent Lord Garmadon from collecting them, they discovered the Nunchucks of Lightning in the Floating Ruins. As the ninja climbed, they realized that they were being followed by the Skulkin, although when they reached the top and retrieved the Nunchucks, they encountered Wisp, immediately jumping off and using Jay's gliders to escape. Later, Samukai would ambush the ninja in the Forest of Tranquility and claim ownership of the Nunchucks of Lightning and the other two Golden Weapons they had retrieved. On Garmadon's orders, the Nunchucks of Lightning would be transported into the Underworld.
Weapons of Destiny[]
Samukai used the Nunchucks of Lightning in his final battle with Master Wu, summoning a lightning bolt for the finishing blow. However, when Samukai held the Golden Weapons, the Nunchucks of Lightning and the rest of the Weapons overloaded the Skulkin with their power, eventually destroying him and leaving a portal to the Realm of Madness in the process. After Garmadon left through the portal, Jay would go on to claim the Nunchucks of Lightning for himself.
Rise of the Snakes[]
During a three-hour video gaming marathon with the other ninja, Jay carelessly left the Nunchucks laying on the floor. Jay brought the Nunchucks along with him when the ninja journeyed to Jamanakai Village to stop Lord Garmadon, though he didn't use it as the threat turned out to be the dark lord's son, Lloyd. Later, Jay used the Nunchucks during the tournament to determine who would be the Green Ninja but accidentally shocked himself with them.
Snakebit[]
With Master Wu's guidance, Jay would succeed in transforming the Nunchucks of Lightning into the Storm Glider, using it to retrieve the Fangpyre Staff before the weapons changed back to their default form.
Throughout the season, Jay would continue to use the Nunchucks of Lightning in battle.
The Snake King[]
After trapping the ninja in the Lost City of Ouroboros, Pythor would claim the Nunchucks of Lightning alongside the other Golden Weapons for the Serpentine. However, Samurai X would reclaim the Golden Weapons and proceed to return them to the ninja following their escape.
Day of the Great Devourer[]
Garmadon would use the Nunchucks of Lightning alongside the other Golden Weapons to destroy the Great Devourer, before escaping with them in tow.
Darkness Shall Rise[]
Garmadon would use the Golden Weapons to create the Black Bounty as a show of strength, rallying the Serpentine to his cause. Afterward, he would force the Nunchucks of Lightning with the rest of the Golden Weapons at the Golden Peaks, creating the Mega Weapon.
Following the destruction of the Mega Weapon and its subsequent crash into the comet Delta V, the Nunchucks of Lightning would be partially restored in a melted, fused state alongside the rest of the Golden Weapons.
The Void[]
On the comet Delta V, Cryptor and the ninja battlef over the Nunchucks of Lightning and the remains of the other Golden Weapons, with the Nindroid Army eventually bringing it back to Borg Tower.
The Titanium Ninja[]
The Overlord would succeed in reforging the Nunchucks of Lightning and the remains of the Golden Weapons into the Golden Armor, donning it, and using its power to become the Golden Master.
Endings[]
Kai reforged the Nunchucks and gave them to Jay. Jay used them in the battle against the Oni until a wave of Creation swept Realms of Creation. The Nunchucks were seen on the floor unconnected, with just a golden ball at the end of each one, powerless following the Tornado of Creation.[1]
The Fall of the Monastery[]
The Nunchucks were in their hiding place in the secret compartment in the hangar bay before Aspheera opened it. With the others taking the other Golden Weapons, Pythor was left with the Nunchucks, to his displeasure due to them being unconnected and having no electricity.
Darkness Within[]
Pythor continued to wield the unconnected Nunchucks. During the ritual, the Nunchucks of Lightning and the other Golden Weapons became crystalised, becoming the Weapons of Destruction. With their power, the Overlord is brought back into Ninjago.
The Coming of the King[]
After bestowing the Crystal Council with new powers, the Overlord gave the Nunchucks of Destruction for Pythor to wield officially, to his happiness due to them having an electric chain. As Lloyd evaded the Council, Pythor used the Nunchucks to try and stop him.
Safe Haven[]
When fighting Kai, Cole and Skylor in an alleyway, Pythor used the Nunchucks of Destruction to block Kai and Skylor's elemental blasts.
Dragon Form[]
After Jay defeated Pythor, he purified the Nunchucks of Destruction, restoring its normal power again.
Roots[]
Jay and the other ninja combined the Golden Weapons in an attempt to destroy them. The powers from the Nunchucks of Lightning and the other Weapons formed the Golden Ultra Dragon.

- Lightning - True to their name, the Nunchucks of Lightning possess the Elemental Power of Lightning.
- Electrogenesis - When gyrated rapidly, the Nunchucks gain a high amount of power and causes a large frenzy of uncontrollable electricity.
- Electrokinetic Charging - The Nunchucks of Lightning can charge objects with electricity like the engine of the Destiny's Bounty.
- Electrokinetic Attacks - The Nunchucks of Lightning can attack with electricity.
- Fulgurkinetic Bolt Projection - The Nunchucks of Lightning can shoot lightning bolts.
- Electrokinetic Shock - The Nunchucks of Lightning can electrocute with their attacks.
- Electrokinetic Beam Emission - The Nunchucks of Lightning can shoot concentrated beams of electricity.
- Martial Arts Bestowal - The Nunchucks of Lightning can grant anyone who holds them the ability to use Spinjitzu if they don't already know it.
- Jet Aircraft Mimicry - They also transform into Jay's Storm Glider when used with a certain technique (techniques are probably unique to each person, this is evidenced by Wu's words "let your heart guide you").
- Creation - When combined with the other Golden Weapons, the Nunchucks of Lightning's power of creation can be awakened.
- Nisígenesis - The First Spinjitzu Master was able to use the Golden Weapons to create the island of Ninjago.
- Dimensiogenesis The First Spinjitzu Master was able to create four of the Realms of Creation including Imperium with the Golden Weapons.
- Explosion Inducement - If clashed with the other Golden Weapons, the Nunchucks of Lightning can cause explosions.
- Tempestagenesis - If clashed with the other Golden Weapons, the Nunchucks of Lightning can create storms.
- Tornado of Creation - When combined with the other Golden Weapons and Spinjitzu, the wielder of the Nunchucks of Lightning can use their Spinjitzu to form the Tornado of Creation.
- Materiogenesis - The Tornado of Creation can create matter out of nothing.
- Vacuum Effect - The Tornado of Creation can suck in nearby objects.
- Matterification - The Tornado of Creation can transmute and reshape matter.
- Fabrikinetic Wave Emission - The Tornado of Creation can emit waves of Creation.
- Death Inducement - If wielded with the other Golden Weapons simultaneously by individuals not powerful enough to avoid being overloaded by their power, the Golden Weapons will kill their wielder.
- Dimensio-Pyligenesis - The energy released by the Golden Weapons overloading their wielder can create a portal to the Realm of Madness.
- Elemental combination dragons - If overloaded with Lightning and combined with the other Golden Weapons, the Nunchucks of Lightning can summon the Golden Ultra Dragon at the cost of being destroyed and temporarily rendering the Elemental Master of Lightning powerless in the process.

Nunchucks of Lighting are very similar to classic nunchucks, meaning they are two handles connected by a chain. On the original Nunchucks, each handle was topped with a golden dragon's head from which came a blue lightning chain. However, when the Nunchucks were inactive, the lightning chain turned into a classic silver chain.
The reforged Nunchucks are very similar to the original, but the dragon heads now point downwards. When the Nunchucks are inactive, they aren’t connected by any chain and are just two golden handles.
After becoming crystalized and used by Pythor, the Nunchucks have crystals on the top and bottom sides of each handle, and are now connected with a dark purple lightning chain.

- The video games and playsets depict the Nunchucks of Lightning as two regular handles attached with a single gold chain while the series depicts the Nunchucks of Lightning as the head of a dragon attached by a bolt of lightning.
- According to The Book of Spinjitzu, the Nunchucks of Lightning is the lightning connecting the dragon heads, not the heads themselves.
- In the Ninjago: Legacy sets, they are two golden dragon heads connected by a gold chain.
- In the original sets, there were two ways to build the Nunchucks: to place the chains on the handle or the top.
- In the ninja's briefcase in "The Royal Blacksmiths," the Nunchucks can be seen in their deactivated form to have a silver chain connecting the two handles.
- After the reforged Golden Weapons are depowered in "Endings," the Nunchucks have no chain connecting the two handles.
