Overview
Bleckt Fengxian[2] is the former Minister of Ledgering of the Tournament of the Sources and Roby's uncle. He allied with Ras during the tournament and rigged the games in Ras' favor. However, his plans were thwarted by Wyldfyre and Zur, and was imprisoned for his crimes.
When Thunderfang was gathering souls to become a Source Dragon, the Ninja temporarily released Bleckt to get his knowledge on how to defeat the Chaos Dragon, which Bleckt directed them to find and wake the two halves of the Arc Dragon of Focus before Wyldfyre ordered the bots to put him back in his cell.
History
History[]
Dragons Rising, Season 2[]
Prior to Enter the City of Temples[]
Annoyed that his brother made Roby the Games Master, Bleckt was contacted by Ras, who offers to help him get the position, and in exchange, he would rig the games, put Nokt in the tournament,[3] and intentionally refuse to send invites to the ninja.
Enter the City of Temples[]
Bleckt greets the ninja upon them demanding entrance to the city. But, since he did not hand out their invites, he refuses to acknowledge them. However, the ninja eventually break in, being televised as a result. Just as Bleckt was about to have them arrested, Roby intervenes and personally invites them to the tournament.
They Gather for the Feast[]
He secretly sent Attacker bots after the Ninja and Zur to get rid of Ras' top competition and even sent a fake one after Ras' team to throw off suspicion. Bleckt was later present when Zant-Tanz, whom he had framed, was disqualified and expelled from the city,
Inside the Maze[]
Bleckt accompanied Roby through Foundation Street as they talked about the Tournament. When Roby suggested that Bleckt was a control freak, the latter retorted that his nephew's idea of control was chaos and he didn't like it.
In the evening hours, Bleckt accompanied Roby to the Games Plaza, where he once again argued with his nephew about the latter's changes to the games. As the first game began, Bleckt attempted to make his opening remarks but was cut off by Roby, who dismissed his remarks as being "boring old school." Following his nephew's curt remarks, Bleckt resigned himself to only ringing the bell to mark the start of each game for the rest of the night.
United We Fall[]
As the Tournament continued, Bleckt oversaw each match and rang the bell to signal for the competitors to start.
Following the day's events, Bleckt was reading from his ledger when he and Roby noticed on a screen that the Ninja were seemingly antagonizing Cinder after the latter taunted Wyldfyre for losing to him. Enraged, Bleckt ordered the city's security bots to remove the Ninja from the City of Temples for bullying and harassment outside of the Tournament's matches. However, Zane invoked a Cavern Run challenge under Article 7.64 of the Tournament rules to allow his team to stay, surprising Bleckt, who noted that no one had invoked such a challenge in eons. Nevertheless, Bleckt acknowledged the invocation and accepted it.
Truth and Lies[]
Bleckt continued to watch the Ninja's progress in the Cavern Run. When Roby remarked that he hosted the best games ever, Bleckt briefly shook his head to express his disapproval. Afterwards, Bleckt resumed his normal duties of overseeing each match in the day's games. During Nya's second match against Nokt, Bleckt discreetly sabotaged the game by deactivating the third holographic gem when Nya was about to reach it. He then programmed the gem to appear right beside Nokt, granting the dark Elemental Master the victory.
The Sword Shatters[]
Bleckt continued to fulfill his duties as a referee for the evening's matches. During Lloyd's match against Arccrack, Bleckt was served a cup of tea at the start of the match but dropped it in surprise when the match ended in mere minutes after starting.
Clues and Suspects[]
Bleckt accompanies Roby and a restrained Zeatrix to transfer her powers to Lloyd, who was still unconscious, until Wyldfyre taunts Zeatrix into attacking before Roby took away her powers. He oversaw the battle between Sora and Frak. When it came to Lloyd and Nokt's battle, Bleckt noted the former is still recovering and forced Roby to forfeit Lloyd.
The Final Game[]
Wyldfyre saves Bleckt from a falling brick she deliberately threw at him, unaware that she was discreetly swapping books with a menu to seize his ledger. Bleckt uses his cane to rig the battle between Sora and Nokt, which resulted in the latter's victory. He then watched as Nokt was being crowned the winner, until Wyldfyre and Zur stepped forward to state their objections and expose Bleckt for rigging the tournament, as well as revealing the ledger swapping. After Roby asked Bleckt why he did it, he explains that he thought Roby would bring the games to ruin with his ideas, and he conspired with Ras under the promise he would get rid of Roby. In response to this, Roby declared the victory celebration cancelled and ordered the security droids to subdue Bleckt.
Elements of Betrayal[]
Bleckt was terrified as the Wolf Clan launched their assault on everyone around him, himself included. He turned to Ras, expressing his disbelief that their partnership could come to such a disastrous end. To his shock, Ras brushed off the notion of their partnership, and in a swift motion, he hurled the minister towards some wolf warriors. Bleckt couldn't help but voice his confusion, insisting that he had genuinely believed they were friends.
Later, Bleckt was thrown in a Vengestone cage along with Cinder and the rest of the Wolf Clan and was humiliated for his betrayal as he watched Roby crown Sora the winner by default, being only able to lower his head in defeat.
Dragons Rising, Season 3[]
The Vault of Focus[]
Wyldfyre escorted the ninja to the dungeons where Bleckt was confined, who was engrossed in reading The Sagas of the Eternal Sources. Upon their arrival, Bleckt greeted them with a hint of sarcasm, asking if they had come to revel in his misfortune. He expressed surprise at the news of an invasion, noting that he had been out of touch with current events during his imprisonment. The ninja informed him that it was a spectral invasion, with Spectral Dragonians abducting numerous souls, including Roby's, transforming them into Hollow Ones like them, prompting their visit for answers. Bleckt acknowledged his familiarity with the concept of spectral invasions but had never anticipated their reality. Arin revealed that Thunderfang was orchestrating these invasions, having previously defeated him only for him to return as a ghost. Bleckt commented on the unsettling truth that some things grow stronger in the rot of death, expressing little surprise that Thunderfang was among them, and condemned his ambition to become a Source Dragon as profoundly malevolent. Lloyd inquired about the specifics of Thunderfang's defeat in the City of Temples, hoping to replicate the success. Bleckt offered to assist them in overcoming Thunderfang but noted that his imprisonment hindered his ability to do so. Jay and Wyldfyre were reluctant to release Bleckt due to his past offenses, highlighting his attempt to eliminate Roby, but the other ninja considered his loyalty to the Source Dragons. Once freed, Jay cautioned Bleckt against fleeing, to which Bleckt replied that he preferred walking. He then led the ninja to the Temple City Museum, explaining that he could guide them to the Vault of Focus. To gain access, he needed to recite a password, which he found embarrassing since it was a declaration of Roby's greatness.
Upon arriving at the Vault of Focus, Sora inquired whether it was constructed from Prismatic Steel. Bleckt affirmed this, saying that the City of Temples is situated atop a deposit of raw Prismatic Ore, which, when infused with soul energy, was transformed into the Prismatic Steel chains that bind Thunderfang. He then explained that the Arc Dragon of Focus is a mortal representation of the Source Dragon of Focus with the ability to counter Thunderfang's chaotic powers. However, Bleckt noted that only the Source Dragons have the authority to summon the Arc Dragon. Lloyd interjected, stating that it was currently impossible, as the Source Dragons are in a deadlock regarding their assistance to mortals. Bleckt warned that this situation implies Thunderfang's victory by unleashing Chaos. Lloyd mentioned the potential method for mortals to summon the Arc Dragon, which Bleckt acknowledged but cautioned that doing so without the Source Dragons' consent would mark the ninja as enemies of the Source Dragons. Taking a risk, Bleckt revealed that the only way for mortals to summon the Arc Dragon is to recover and awaken both of its halves through a spell song. Once they are awake, the ninja must use the Unbidden Storm and take it to the desired summoning location, which in this case is the Well of the Lost, Thunderfang's current source of power. He identified two potential sites for this endeavor: the Caves of Bells, which are both located in Mysterium and Djinjago. However, he noted that the Cave of Bells in Djinjago has been destroyed following the realm's destruction. Sora then clarified that Djinjago has returned, leaving Bleckt astonished, lamenting the lack of news he gets. But Nya further explained that Djinjago's revival was partial, leaving uncertainty about the status of its Cave of Bells and the second half of the Arc Dragon.
As Bleckt awaited Sora's return from the junkyard, he remained vigilant, aware that if Thunderfang had amassed enough souls to become a Source Dragon, the resulting power would be evident across the Merged Lands, though it had yet to be detected. Upon Sora and Arin's arrival with the Jet Mech and Spinjitzu Battle Mech, crafted from Prismatic Ore to combat the Spectral Dragonians, Wyldfyre made it clear that the Security Bots would escort Bleckt back to his cell. She issued a stern warning that any deceit on his part would lead to a miserable existence. As he left, Bleckt expressed his lack of faith in the ninja's success, hoping for the forgiveness of the Source Dragons.
Other appearances and mentions
Other appearances and mentions[]
I Alone Can Save Them[]
Roby mentions his uncle often gave him a scowl for his genius wordplay when he got no response from the Security Bots.
For Whom the Bell Tolls[]
Nya followed the instructions of the Cave of Bells in Mysterium, but she found out from a Coconut copy of Gandalaria that the information Bleckt gave her was outdate, which Nya blamed him for despite knowing he doesn’t get information of current events.
When Doves Cry[]
While holding down Nokt with his Jet Mech, Lloyd remembered that Bleckt told him of a cavern underneath the Well of the Lost in the Spectral Lands.
Personality
Personality[]
Bleckt is a conservative old man attached to ancient traditions, order, and respect for rules. He doesn't like the modernity and frivolity embodied by his nephew, who is his complete opposite. Although he claims that he likes to follow the rules, Bleckt doesn't mind teaming up with villains if he doesn't get his way. This makes him a sneaky and hypocritical person. Also, he is very naïve and easy to manipulate, as seen with his relationship with Ras. He apparently never bothered to know why Ras (a clearly dishonorable villain) desperately desired to win the tournament, showing he was completely blinded by his hatred and resentment towards Roby. Bleckt seems to be short-sighted, as he couldn't realize that he wouldn't live long enough to see the next Tournament of Sources even if his scheme succeeded, further exemplifying his jealousy of his nephew. He also had some respect for his brother, although he was appalled that he promoted Roby to be Games Master and even called him "stupid" for it.
Despite his resentful personality, Bleckt shows a respectful side towards the Source Dragons, showing disdain at Thunderfang's attempt to become one of them and willing to teach the Ninja how to awaken the Arc Dragon of Focus despite the consequences of doing so without the Source Dragons' permission. His respect for the Source Dragons overwrote his self-serving behavior as he could have bargained with the Ninja for his release but accepted his return to his imprisonment.
Relationships
Relationships[]
Roby[]
- “The honor of the games is like your whole thing, Uncle B. What would make you do something like this?”
- “Because of you! You simpleton! You infantile half-wit! When my stupid brother put you in charge, I knew you’d ruin the games with all your stang toot ideas.”
| — Roby and Bleckt, "The Final Game" |
Bleckt is Roby's uncle and former Master of Ledgering. While their relationship is rocky, Bleckt harbors complete appall for his nephew, who got the Games Master position and allied with Ras to try and overthrow him. Roby became shocked at his uncle's reasons and cancelled Nokt's victory celebration as a result before ordering security to arrest him.
After Bleckt’s betrayal, Roby placed him in the deepest and most isolated cell with many Security Bots watching him, cutting his uncle completely from any present event that may happen, making his information to the Ninja outdated.
Ras[]
- “This is not how I envisioned our partnership ending, Lord Ras.”
- “Partnership?”
- “But I thought we were friends!”
| — Bleckt and Ras, "Elements of Betrayal" |
Before the Tournament of the Sources, Ras plotted with Bleckt against the ninja to prevent them from winning the tournament. Bleckt was willing to help Ras, promising that if his champion won, Ras would get rid of Roby and leave his position as Games Master to Bleckt. He considered Ras to be his friend, but in reality, he was only a tool to carry out the plan, and once it backfired, he had no more meaning to Ras.
