Elements of Betrayal is the twentieth and final episode of the second season of Ninjago: Dragons Rising and the 40th episode overall.

Arin, Zane, and Cole make a shocking discovery in the Monastery of Gates as they defend the Dragon Horns. The depowered Elemental Masters clash with the Wolf Mask army, but a betrayal shakes both sides.[1]

Netflix: The Wolf Mask army battles the Elemental Masters as the Ninja converge on the Monastery of Gates to stop Nokt from freeing the Forbidden Five.

At the Games Plaza, Nokt, Cinder and the wolf warriors start to attack Ras, the Elemental Masters and the Security Bots. Lloyd informs Sora on what Arin told him about the Monastery of Gates and the Dragon Horns. Lloyd expresses his revelation that Ras was not behind everything and Sora says to not beat himself up over it. Nokt and Rox, who is still possessing Jordana, fly over to the Monastery of Gates. Roby tries to get hold of the Elemental Cup. Elsewhere, Arin tells Zane he knew Lloyd would not believe Master Wu caused the Merge as the two run towards the Monastery. Cole tries to pull the Crown of Horns off the ceiling with the Elemental Earth Mech but fails. The gate in the middle of the Monastery shakes and Cole uses the Mech to punch it. This breaks the wall in front of the gate and Nya and Riyu run out from behind it. Nya says that she and Riyu found a way to communicate with Kai and explains how the Dragon Crowns could help them free Kai and Bonzle. Nya sees Nokt and Rox fly towards them and the ninja fight them.

Back at the Games Plaza, Roby, wielding the Elemental Cup, jumps onto a floating platform. Ras follows him, and they both decide to use the Elemental Cup to take back Nokt's stolen powers. Lloyd says that they should head to the Monastery to stop Nokt and Frak reassures him that the remaining Elemental Masters can hold the fort. They rush to leave. Meanwhile, Nokt and Rox perform Shatterspin and Nya and Zane use Rising Dragon Technique to counteract it. Under Rox's demands, Nokt flies over to the Monastery and destroys a part of the rock bridge connecting to it, causing Arin to fall. Riyu saves him and flies after Nokt while Rox takes out Jordana's crystal ball. However, Jordana manages to break free from Rox's possession for a few moments before Rox regains control and casts a static spell on Cole, Nya and Zane. Nokt tries to use the Elemental Powers on the Dragon Horns to release the remaining Forbidden Five when Arin and Riyu shove him away and the former does proper Spinjitzu again. Roby and Ras arrive and the floating platform hits Nokt, knocking him into the hole in the wall. Ras remarks on how Arin learnt true Spinjitzu because of the former's techniques. Roby tries to take away the Elemental Powers from Nokt but the latter uses Shockwave to push him off the edge of the cliff. Nokt succeeds in releasing the rest of the Forbidden Five.

Rox's soul leaves Jordana's body and returns to her own. Jordana tells the ninja that she saw into Rox's head while the latter controlled her body. She removes the static spell and Sora, Wyldfyre and Lloyd show up in the Combo Vehicle. Arin wakes up and helps get a boulder off Ras. Arin expresses his desire to find his parents and wants Ras to help him. Rox and Nokt tend to the other Forbidden Five members' bodies when the rest of the ninja arrive. Nokt fights the Ninja and Ras. Lloyd notices Arin performed perfect Spinjitzu and asks Arin how he learnt it, to which he replies not from Lloyd. Elsewhere, Wyldfyre catches Roby before he slipped off the side of the cliff. Wyldfyre performs a romance roar and explains to Roby what it means. Roby, in return, tries to perform one back and the two roar repeatedly.

In the Monastery, Nokt continues to beat everyone. Arin protects Ras from Nokt when Riyu notices the Crown of Horns on the ceiling and shows it to Nya. Riyu sparks her with dragon power and she blasts the horns, releasing Kai and Bonzle from Nether-Space. Kai takes on Nokt with each using Rising Dragon and Shatterspin respectively. Nokt almost finishes Kai off when Roby uses the Elemental Cup to take the Elemental Powers. Roby returns the Elemental Powers back to their original owners. Rox and Nokt try to escape through a gate to the Cloud Kingdom, taking Ras with them so Nokt could get his revenge on the latter. Arin runs after them, saying he needs Ras and Lloyd and Sora run after him. The portal gate explodes, with Arin being the only ninja to cross over. Cole, Zane, Wyldfyre and Riyu run to give Kai a hug. Bonzle comes out from behind a boulder and Cole gives her a hug too. Lloyd sees Master Wu's spirit.

Later at the Games Plaza, Bleckt, Cinder and the Wolf warriors are in cages while Roby honors the Ninja. Roby voids Nokt's victory, declares Sora the winner of the Tournament and gives her a medal. A few minutes later, Sora thanks Euphrasia and Tox for helping out during the battle and Lloyd sits beside her. Sora asks Lloyd if anyone had heard from Jordana as she wants to give thanks to the latter. Sora says she could not have won without Lloyd's guidance. She tells Lloyd about how she and Arin had a falling out during the Tournament and Lloyd assures her they will find Arin. She wonders if Arin wants to be found. Elsewhere on Foundation Street, Roby asks Wyldfyre if she has to go and she responds with a sad yes. They agree to stay and touch and share some parting roars before Lloyd and Sora come by. The three enter the Monastery of Spinjitzu through the Monastery of Gates.

On the other side, Nya tells Kai about Jay and he says they should go and find Jay. Cole tells Zane the Cloud Monks did not see anyone come out of the portal gate. In the courtyard of the Monastery, Lloyd sits in front of Master Wu's portrait with a photo of Arin beside him. The Source Dragon of Motion arrived, inquiring about his distress. Lloyd expresses his regret for failing in his mission. The Source Dragon reassures him, noting that he successfully uncovered the culprits behind the Matriarch's death, despite the escape of the Forbidden Five. Motion emphasizes that Lloyd's actions have thwarted a significant threat, as he prevented another mortal from using Elemental Powers to reach the Source Dragons, thereby highlighting the real dangers posed by the mortal realm. Encouraged by this revelation, Lloyd begins to see his efforts in a new light. The Source Dragon of Motion praises him, acknowledging Sora's achievement in winning the tournament and affirming the worthiness of the ninja in the eyes of the Source Dragons, who now owe him a debt. The Source Dragon of Motion created her Dragon Icon and gave it to Lloyd, advising him to use it in a time of dire need. After Motion left, Lloyd returned to his meditation, clutching the portrait of Arin. In the First Land, Arin lights a fire and tells the unconscious Ras how the ninja failed him and his plan to find his parents.

  • The Czech episode title was changed from "Prvky zrady" to "Živly zrady" during production.
  • Chris "Doc" Wyatt stated that the Forbidden Five were responsible for the explosion of the portal gate leading to the Cloud Kingdom, ensuring that they could not be pursued. A line from Zane explaining this was cut for time.[3]
    • This was supported by the Shatterspin sound effects that accompanied the gate's destruction.
    • The scene where the portal gate was destroyed would later be seen in a flashback in "The Hollow Ones," where Nokt used Brute Force to destroy the gate rather than Shatterspin.

  • When Nya says, "But, what about the horns?", her half-mask is static.
  • When Nya exclaims, "Of course!", her half-mask clips a bit through her upper torso.
  • When Neuro regains his powers, the sound effects used for Sound are used.
  • When Lloyd, Wyldfyre and Sora use the portal gate to get back to the Monastery of Spinjitzu, Sora is briefly seen frozen and sliding down the stairs instead of walking on them before going to Riyu.
