Arc Dragon of Focus

Overview

This article is about the dragon. For the set, see 71836 Arc Dragon of Focus.
“You did well, mortals, in waking me from my slumber and guiding me with your focus. However, my masters may not feel the same way. I return now to my slumber, and pray the consequences for your actions are not too dire.”

The Arc Dragon of Focus is a two-headed Arc Dragon serving as the mortal avatar of the Source Dragon of Focus and revered as the champion of the Source Dragons. It wields the Source energy of Focus.

Following the Battle of the City of Temples against Thunderfang, the Arc Dragon of Focus split into two halves and fell into a deep slumber within the Caves of Bells in Mysterium and Djinjago.

During the spectral invasions orchestrated by Thunderfang, the ninja devised a plan to awaken the Arc Dragon of Focus in hopes of finally ending the threat posed by the Dragon of Chaos. To achieve this, three teams were assembled: Sora, Frak, Wyldfyre, and Riyu traveled to Djinjago to awaken the tan half, Nya, Kai, and Jay journeyed to Mysterium to awaken the purple half, and Lloyd and Arin went to the Spectral Lands to use the Unbidden Storm in order to unite both halves of the Arc Dragon of Focus.

After Thunderfang’s defeat, the Arc Dragon of Focus expressed gratitude toward Lloyd and Arin for their guidance, while also warning that the Source Dragons would not look favorably upon the events that had transpired. Shortly thereafter, the entity separated once more into its two halves before returning to its slumber.

History

History[]

Background[]

The Arc Dragon of Focus was among many Arc Dragons created to serve as the Source Dragons' avatars, being associated with the Source Dragon of Focus, so they wouldn't have to manifest personally in their physical forms when they appear in the mortal world. At some point, it was deemed the champion of the Source Dragons.[3]

When Thunderfang launched an assault on the City of Temples, the Arc Dragon of Focus was released by the Council of Sources to confront the Shatter Dragon. It appeared in the skies of the Realm of Oni and Dragons and faced Thunderfang. Using its Focus powers, which inherently countered the chaotic abilities of Thunderfang, the two dragons engaged in a fierce battle with each other. To defeat Thunderfang, the Arc Dragon of Focus unleashed a powerful beam of dragon energy, striking the Shatter Dragon with such force that it sent him plummeting from the City of Temples and into the depths of the Realm of Oni and Dragons. Following the battle, the Arc Dragon of Focus was split into two halves and fell into a deep slumber in the Caves of Bells within Mysterium and Djinjago.[4]

Due to the destruction of the Cursed Realm, which in turn caused the destruction of Djinjago, its sister realm, the tan half of the Arc Dragon resting there perished alongside the realm and its inhabitants.

When Doves Cry[]

Arrakore suggested using Zanth as his aid in restoring the tan half of the Arc Dragon of Focus due to her boost in Djinjagan wish magic. Through enough focus and concentration, they succeeded, taking time to rest and letting the Ninja do their job.

Chaos Reigns[]

After Lloyd and Arin manage to reactivate the Unbidden Storm, the stone merges both halves of the Arc Dragon of Focus, who appeared in the Spectral Lands as Thunderfang was examining his transformation. The Arc Dragon greeted Thunderfang, with the Shatter Dragon thinking the Source Dragons sent it here because they are truly afraid when it was actually Lloyd and Arin. Both humans experience a vision where they see what the Arc Dragon is seeing. Thunderfang declared that while the Arc Dragon of Focus bested him last time, he is far more powerful than he has ever been and begins to fight his mortal enemy.

As Thunderfang clawed the Arc Dragon, the avatar responded with a tail whip and its purple head bit the ghostly dragon but was thrown aside. Thunderfang taunts that the Arc Dragon is nothing more than a lapdog of the Sources and a puppet of corrupt masters. As Thunderfang declared that he will be the eighth Source Dragon and rain chaos among the Merged Lands, the Arc Dragon of Focus charged at him but had to defend itself against the Shatter Dragon’s lightning bolt using its wings. Lloyd and Arin discover that the Arc Dragon needs their help and charge at Thunderfang, who responds with a punch that blew the ninja back into the wall while the Arc Dragon was briefly taken down. As the two get back up, Thunderfang throws the Arc Dragon into a large hill. Lloyd attempts to fight but Arin can't keep in sync with Lloyd, which causes the Shatter Dragon to defeat the tan side and throw large rocks at it.

Lloyd and Arin manage to fight better with the Arc Dragon of Focus, angering Thunderfang, who declares that he belongs amongst the Source Dragons. As Thunderfang charges, Lloyd and Arin make the Arc Dragon fire its focus beams, which cause the Shatter Dragon to be blown back into the hilltop where the Well of the Lost was. As Thunderfang accidentally destroyed his source of power, the Arc Dragon watched as its opponent began to release a surge of soul energy that returned the souls to the Hollow Ones. In this process, the Spectral Dragonians, and the Forbidden Five dissipated, along with Thunderfang.

The Arc Dragon of Focus thanked Lloyd and Arin, but warned the two of the consequences its masters will have on them.

The Arc Dragon of Focus thanked Lloyd and Arin, but warned the two of the consequences its masters will have on them.

As Lloyd and Arin came out of the cavern, the Arc Dragon of Focus flew up to them and thanked them for waking it from its slumber and guiding it with their focus. However, it warned Lloyd that its masters might not be pleased with their actions of waking it up without their permission. The Arc Dragon said that it will return to its slumber and prayed the consequences for the ninja's actions were not too dire before splitting back in two and teleporting away.

The Council of Sources had a fallout, where Focus, Life, and Strength withdrew from the council, breaking their promise to the First Spinjitzu Master. By withdrawing their sources from the Merged Realms, they disrupted the balance of Elemental Powers and put the universe into chaos.

The Source Dragons gather to discuss the threat of Thunderfang, who was banished to the Spectral Lands but was harnessing enough power to become a Source Dragon. The Source Dragon of Motion proposed using the Arc Dragon of Focus to permanently defeat Thunderfang but the Source Dragon of Focus opposed it, having regretted helping mortals. Motion said that there is a way for mortals to summon the Arc Dragon of Focus, which the Source Dragon of Strength deemed impossible but Motion says it can happen if both halves were released from their sleep and are focused on soul energy.

The Vault of Focus[]

The Ninja enlist Bleckt to help them find a way to defeat Thunderfang. Bleckt takes them to the Vault of Focus, which is made of Prismatic Steel, where he showed them a mural of the Arc Dragon of Focus fighting Thunderfang and the locations of its two halves. Nya had confused the Arc Dragon for the Source Dragon of Focus before Bleckt corrected her. He warns the ninja that summoning the Arc Dragon of Focus without the Source Dragons' approval could make them an enemy of the god-like dragons. Bleckt then gave them the Unbidden Storm and instructed them to go to the Source-Henge in the Well of the Lost, Thunderfang's source of power, and when the halves are awakened, they must use it to join them both into the Arc Dragon of Focus.

For Whom the Bell Tolls[]

Trivia

Trivia[]

  • The Arc Dragon of Focus’ role as an avatar for the Source Dragon of Focus is somewhat comparable to Marc Spector from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, who serves as an avatar for the Moon God Khonshu.
  • In the sets, it has saddles on both of its necks, a detail which is absent in the show.
  • It is one of the few dragons of the franchise to have more than one head, the others being the Ultra Dragon, the Fusion Dragon, and the Golden Ultra Dragon.
    • Additionally, it is the first multi-headed dragon after the Ultra Dragon that isn't an Elemental Dragon.
    • It is also the first and so far only multi-headed dragon to be a mortal avatar.
  • According to Chris 'Doc' Wyatt:
    • It possesses neither Ice nor Lightning,[8] suggesting that (in the case of Ice) while it possesses the powers of Focus, it lacks the ability to use the Elemental Powers derived from the source
    • The Arc Dragon of Focus was only half as powerful as the Source Dragon of Focus during the Battle of the Spectral Lands.[9] However, this can change depending on how much power the Source Dragon of Focus desires to bestow it.[10]
    • Despite being the champion of the Source Dragons, the Arc Dragon of Focus is not the strongest Arc Dragon[11] since that distinction belongs to the Firstbourne.[12]
    • The Arc Dragon of Focus is much stronger when controlled/guided by the Source Dragon of Focus than by mortals.[13]
    • The Arc Dragon of Focus was born as a mortal avatar and with a singular consciousness.[14]
    • The Arc Dragon of Focus did not take part in the War of Oni and Dragon.[14]
    • The Arc Dragon of Focus being agender is not due to being the Source Dragons' champion.[14]
    • The title of "Champion" of the Source Dragons applies mainly to the Arc Dragon of Focus, not for all other avatars.[15]
    • In a 10 round match between the Arc Dragon of Focus and Egalt with both in their prime, the Arc Dragon of Focus would have a win ratio of 6:4.[16]
  • In the Finnish, Dutch, and Castilian Spanish dub, the Arc Dragon of Focus is referred to as a Source Dragon even though it isn't.
    • Technically, those dubs are correct in a way, as the Arc Dragon of Focus is considered to be the mortal avatar of the Source Dragon of Focus.
  • The Arc Dragon of Focus is the third dragon in the franchise to defeat a main antagonist, the first being the Firstbourne defeating Iron Baron and the second being the Golden Ultra Dragon defeating the Overlord.
  • The Arc Dragon of Focus is one of six non-binary characters to appear in the franchise. The others are Terri, an unnamed algae farmer, Zaiden Kane, the Source Dragon of Life, and the Source Dragon of Flow.
    • Chronologically, it's the third, having been alive since at least the War of Oni and Dragon.
    • The Arc Dragon of Focus is the first agender character to appear in the franchise.
  • In certain cases, the tan half of the dragon is said to be in Mysterium's Cave of Bells, while the purple half is in Djinjago's. This was first seen in "The Vault of Focus," where the murals in the vault indicated the tan half in Mysterium and the purple half in Djinjago, contradicting their actual placements shown in "When Doves Cry."
