Plot
Plot[]
Zane, Euphrasia and Arin continue to try to hold off the Elemental Monsters as the Arc Dragon of Life and the Whispering Wood has been withered. The Arc Dragon bids them farewell, falling down until a burst of green light and whispering spread across the decayed land, with Lloyd arriving in his Draconus Form.
Beatrix confronts Percival and the Imperians
In Imperium, Beatrix, wielding the Weapon of Desolation and accompanied by the Loyalists, approaches the City of Imperium with Cole in handcuffs. She projects her image to the citizens, questioning who represents them in her absence. Percival claims his role as an elected official, but Beatrix reminds him of his past allegiance, when he brought her Riyu and sought to serve as a Claw of Imperium. In response, Percival argues that he has seen through her propaganda, exposing her as a tyrant who misled the populace about energy safety while exploiting dragons. Beatrix defends her actions, asserting that she drained the dragons to secure prosperity, while well aware that the current society is struggling to maintain basic services, as opposed to the fact that Imperium was perfect under her rule. Percival insisted that Imperium, though facing challenges, was built on the hard work of its people, who now had a voice in their governance. Beatrix offered the citizens one last chance for surrender, threatening to destroy them as she reclaimed her throne by force if they refused. Percival stood firm, rallying the crowd to reject her, which they did with cheers for their freedom. Beatrix, unfazed, welcomed the challenge, promising a satisfying confrontation. Percival warned her that any attempt to enter Imperium would lead to her arrest for her past crimes, including the death of Levo. With a laugh, Beatrix reminded them of the peace she had offered and prepared to unleash her army of Elemental Monsters. As she commanded her forces to march, she taunted Cole before leading her army into battle.
He dispatches the Elemental Monsters alongside the help of the others, with the green light allowing Zane and Euphrasia to access their Elemental Powers, watching as they return to an energy state. Lloyd feels the connections he now has to all life, which the Arc Dragon guides him through, seeing Lloyd's True Potential as the Master of Life being unique to him, unmatched by the True Potentials of past Masters of Life. Euphrasia noticed that the Whispering Wood was still withering despite the Ritual of Unrooting meant to restore everything. Lloyd explained that an outside force was manipulating the Source Energy, causing life to drain from the forest. While Arin suspected a Source Dragon or Ras was behind it, Lloyd identified the real danger as the Weapon of Desolation, which he believed was more than just a weapon and needed to be sealed to save the Whispering Wood. In a show of support, Arin offered to accompany Lloyd, and Euphrasia joined them, though she worried about finding the weapon. Zane asked Lloyd if he could lead the way, but Lloyd felt unsure about how to proceed.
Cole struggles against his restraints as Empress Beatrix leads her Loyalists and Elemental Monsters toward Imperium. Despite the pressure on his unstable elemental powers, he manages to summon a rock that erupts beneath him, breaking free from his bonds. As two nearby Loyalists powered up their blasters to stop him, Cole casually joked that he had to do it because his wrists were getting sore. Before they could fire, he charged straight through them using Spinjitzu, rapidly catching up to Beatrix and landing firmly on her moving platform. Dr. LaRow tries to stop him, but he knocks her aside and focuses on the Weapon of Desolation. As he dodges Beatrix's attacks, Cole touches the weapon, transforming into his upgraded Golem form. Cole destroys the platform, sending Beatrix crashing down and disarming her, which causes the Elemental Monsters to become agressive. Cole declares that Beatrix has caused enough trouble for Imperium and prepares to end the battle, but she quickly recovers, vowing not to be defeated by an outsider. She reclaims the Weapon of Desolation, regaining control over the Elemental Monsters and commanding them to attack. They swarm Cole from all sides, and although he conjures an Earth sword to fight back, the relentless assault from the Acid and Earth Monsters forces him into a defensive position. Meanwhile, Beatrix views Cole as a mere distraction and orders the Mutation Monsters to scale Imperium's walls. Percival insists on restoring the electro-barrier, but one of the scientists reminds him that he had previously ordered it shut down to save energy, with all power cells already rerouted. Percival interrupts her, emphasizing the need to find a solution, as Cole is risking his life for them, and they cannot afford to give up, rallying the Imperian scientists into action. As Cole battles the Elemental Monsters, a horn sounds as Jay, Nya, and Kai arrive in the Transforming Car. Kai gleefully remarks on the excitement, while Cole expresses shock at their presence. Jay, confused, questions whether the rock monster is actually Cole. Nya assures him, though she notes the appearance of Beatrix and the Weapon of Desolation, realizing they arrived too late. Kai teases Jay about his driving skills, which leads to playful banter, including Jay reminding Kai of his past mishap with the Land Bounty. Amidst the talk, a Mutation Monster crashes onto their car hood, prompting Nya to instruct Jay to activate a button, flipping the hood and launching the monster away. Both celebrate their victory, with Nya claiming credit for the vehicle's design and Jay playfully asserting that he inspired her, despite her reminding him he initially discouraged the idea.
Meanwhile, on the Imperium Broadcast Tower, Percival and his aides work to restore the electro-barrier, preparing to fend off the Mutation Monsters. Just as they finish, the barrier powers up, delivering a shock to the approaching monsters. Beatrix defies the barrier, but it begins to weaken. Dr. LaRow informs Beatrix that Loyalists inside the city are sabotaging their efforts. Concurrently, the barrier completely fails, a situation noticed by Jay and Nya. Jay suggests the city needs its best engineer, referring to Nya, who still grapples with Jay's recent selfishness. She sets off with her Spinjitzu to aid the city while Kai helps Cole fight. Reunited with his teammate, Cole is surprised to learn Kai escaped the cave where he had been trapped. Kai jokingly assures him that no cave could stop him from coming to his rescue before charging into the battle. Kai greets the Fire Monsters casually, only to be snubbed, which he dismisses as uncool before fighting them with his Spinjitzu. Percival desperately tries to identify the issue with the malfunctioning electro-barrier, noting that the problem is not in the parallel circuits. Nya arrives via the elevator, greeting Percival enthusiastically and offering her assistance. He is relieved and curious how she gained access to the city's fortified walls, to which she bluntly mentions navigating through the waste tunnels, describing the experience as gross. A scientist was concern that Beatrix could use that route to send her monsters into the city. Percival dismisses this notion, remarking that elitists like Beatrix are oblivious to how citizens manage trash. Returning to the barrier crisis, Nya inquires about the problem, and Percival admits they have no understanding of the faults.
Determined to help, Nya decides to check the system's relays and heads down the elevator. Upon arriving on the lower floors, she discovers two Loyalists sabotaging the barrier by removing critical power cells. Shocked by their actions, Nya gasps as one Loyalist praises Beatrix, prompting both to open fire on her. Nya dodges the blasts just in time, then pursues the escaping Loyalists down the corridor.
The Mutation Monsters finally arrive at the gates of the City of Imperium, causing panic among the citizens who flee for safety as the creatures begin their attack. Just then, Sora, Frak, and Wyldfyre arrived on Riyu, swooping down to push some of the monsters away from the crowd. Frak expresses his surprise at, noting that he wasn't sure where Johnny and the Inquisitor would heading, but Sora reveals that Beatrix's name made their destination clear. As they dismount Riyu, they look out at the large horde climbing the city walls. Frak candidly states he isn't impressed with Imperium so far, and Sora admits she wasn't a fan either, although she joked it had fewer monsters when she was younger. Wyldfyre, however, disagrees, claiming it was dull and that the current chaos is thrilling. Spotting Cole, Jay, and Kai fighting in the desert below, Frak and Wyldfyre shout in recognition. Wyldfyre urges Frak to stop hesitating and starts jumping across the heads of the Mutation Monsters to join their friends. A hesitant Frak asks if they really have to do that, but Sora tells him she's going to work on the city's defenses and leaves him behind. Frak tries to copy Wyldfyre's moves but ends up falling flat on his stomach. Just as he hopes no one saw his embarrassing fall, Jay drives up, laughing at Frak's blunder before speeding away. Frak weakly calls after him, pretending that it was intentional. Beatrix was disgusted upon seeing Riyu, the dragon brought by the ninja, and immediately demanded Dr. LaRow confirm the status of her dragon-draining facilities. Dr. LaRow replied that although the new senate had dismantled them, she could restore their functionality quickly, which brought a sinister smile to Beatrix's face.
Meanwhile, in the streets of Imperium, Nya was in hot pursuit of two Loyalists carrying a large device. She attempted to use her water powers to halt them, but her abilities failed to activate. One of the Loyalists shot back at her, forcing Nya to take cover behind a cart. They then threw the activated device onto the city wall, where it adhered and powered up. The device began to emit a laser, cutting a hole in the city's defenses, making Nya realize with dread that Beatrix would soon invade. Using Spinjitzu, Nya knocked down one of the Loyalists and destroyed the device just as Sora arrived. Hearing the explosion, Sora rushed over and encountered Nya, who was surprised to see her. When Nya asked about Sora's sudden appearance, Sora launched into a chaotic tale about her time in Umbrasilvis. Nya noted that it sounded like nonsense, to which Sora agreed, but quickly inquired why they were running, prompting Nya to explain the need to stop the saboteurs. More Loyalists throw another cutting device against the wall, prompting Nya to urgently ask Sora if her powers are functioning, as they are in dire need of them. Sora realizes that everyone's Elemental Powers are acting strangely. Determined to help, she focuses intently and chants, hoping for a breakthrough. After a tense struggle, she successfully manipulates the device, but instead of a safe shutdown, it explodes violently, forcing the Loyalists to retreat to somewhere else. Although Sora is disappointed that it wasn't her intended outcome, Nya encourages her to celebrate the small victory as they continue their pursuit.
Outside the walls, the battle rages on, with Riyu fighting against the Mutation Monsters, though the monsters seized him and pull him from the sky. An Ice Monster lunges at Kai, who narrowly avoids the attack, only to be surrounded and hit with ice from another Ice Monster. Just then, Wyldfyre charges into the scene on a Fire Monster, hurling it at the two Ice Monsters to save Kai. She greets him cheerfully, and he responds with gratitude, rating her arrival a perfect ten on a scale from zero to fire. As they share a fist bump, Kai humorously notes that Jay and Nya are currently scoring below zero on the fun scale before the two continue battling the advancing monsters together. Cole is confronted by three Acid Monsters intent on melting him down. Just then, Frak springs into action, kicking one monster away and dodging, which leads to the other two accidentally blasting each other in their attempt to retaliate. Grateful, Cole thanks Frak and quickly apologizes for his previous behavior during the Spectral Dragonians' invasion of Imperium. Frak forgives him right away but points out that they are more Elemental Monsters than in Umbrasilvis. Cole, puzzled, tries to ask about what Umbrasilvis even is, but their conversation is interrupted when Jay drives into the fray, plow throughing the Elemental Monsters. An Ice Monster retaliates by freezing the ground, causing Jay's vehicle to skid uncontrollably, and an Earth Monster then covers the windshield with tar. In a panic, Jay frantically presses buttons to find the windshield wipers. Suddenly, two Fire Monsters crash into the vehicle, sending it soaring into the air before it crashes nose-first into the dirt, leaving Jay surrounded by Elemental Monsters.
Inside the city, the Loyalists successfully deploy a third cutting device against the walls of Imperium. Nya and Sora rush to intervene but quickly find themselves under heavy blaster fire. As another Loyalist approaches from behind with a sword drawn, Sora reacts swiftly, kicking them to the ground. Nya uses her Spinjitzu to push one of the Loyalists away, but a second one shoots at her, forcing her to retreat. She urges Sora to attempt to disable the machine again, but Sora struggles to focus amid the chaos, and her powers fail to activate in time. The device completes its cycle, creating a large breach in the city wall.
Riyu becomes overwhelmed as Mutation Monsters pin him to the ground and Beatrix orders them to ignore the dragon and scale the walls. Upon noticing the breach, Dr. LaRow expresses pride in their saboteurs, prompting Beatrix to command a full assault. Cole attempts to chase after the advancing army but is pinned down by Mutation Monsters. He shouts for his friends to reach the city, but a Fire and Acid Monster blocks the way for Kai, Wyldfyre, and Frak. With the ninja held back, the Loyalists and Elemental Monsters pour through the breach into Imperium. Declaring that she has reclaimed her kingdom, Beatrix triumphantly enters the city at the head of her invading army.

Trivia
Trivia[]
- As of this episode, all of the Ninja except for P.I.X.A.L. have been to Imperium.
Continuity[]
- This episode marks the first time that the inside of a Spinjitzu tornado has been shown in Ninjago: Dragons Rising, and the first time since "Grave Danger" over 10 years before this episode premired.
- This time, the inside of Nya's tornado is shown although the effects of her tornado don't show like the other times the inside of a Spinjitzu tornado was seen.
- Nya is also the sixth person to have their tornado shown from the inside, the first was Jay in "The Golden Weapon", then Nuckal in "The New Masters of Spinjitzu", then Garmadon in "An Underwordly Takeover", then Lloyd in "The Invitation" and then Zane in "Grave Danger".
- Jay is able to remember Cole, who never showed up in the flashbacks seen in "Wonder of the Merged Lands".
- Cole recounts hearing that Kai's group got trapped by an Imperium force field back in the Land of Madness.
- Lloyd possessed a new and different energy upon completing the Ritual of Unrooting which Zane was able to sense it. After the Battle at the Abyss of Eternal Night in "Dangerous Connections", he can no longer sense it.
Errors[]
- When Lloyd lands in his Draconus Form in the beginning of the episode, his eyes aren't glowing.
- When Lloyd is charging in his Draconus Form at the Mutation Monster, Zane's mask isn't on.
- In the scene where Jay makes fun of Frak for falling to the ground, Jay's hair clips through the bars of his car.
- At the end of the episode, four Imperians never panic and run away in fear; instead they stand idle when Beatrix, the Loyalists, and Elemental Monsters enter Imperium.
- However, it is possible these specific citizens are suffering from the "freeze" result of the fight or flight response. Meaning, they are frozen in fear, rather than idle.
- It is unknown how Kai, Jay, and Nya managed to travel from the Land of Madness to Imperium in the Transforming Car, as the two lands are supposed to be completely separated by water.[5] However, the terrain of the Merged Lands is still shifting as seen in "The Screaming Earth" meaning the Land of Madness could have moved closer to Imperium.
- Jay recalls when Kai accidentally melted the steering wheel of the Land Bounty. However, it’s unknown what point in time this occurred as the original Land Bounty was destroyed in the Never-Realm and Kai didn’t have his element at that time, while the new version was stated to have been built recently in "Monster in the Monastery". Meaning this line is either an error or there was another version of the Land Bounty used offscreen.
