Plot

Plot[]

, wielding and declaring her intent to return to her status as 'Empress' and take over .

Beatrix, wielding Percival and declaring her intent to return to her status as 'Empress' and take over Imperium.

In the City of Imperium, Beatrix, Dr. LaRow, the Loyalists, and the Elemental Monsters make their way into the city, with Beatrix declaring to "her" people that their Empress has returned to power. Nearby Imperians flee in terror, as the Loyalists and the Elemental Monsters begin dispersing across the city. Meanwhile, Nya and Sora attempt to hold off any and all incoming forces long enough to get everyone to safety by using Spinjitzu. Seeing Beatrix from afar, Sora attempts to use her Technology powers on Beatrix's Empress Mech in order to dismantle it, like she did with her MergeQuake weapon after unlocking her True Potential, but with her powers still on the fritz, pulling an old trick on Beatrix again seemed impossible. Willing to fight for a better and free Imperium, Percival, alongside two scientists accompanying him, attempts to fight back, only for his backup to be intercepted by an Acid Monster, leaving him alone at Beatrix's mercy. Knocking his weapon away, Beatrix uses her mutated monster arm to lift and pull Percival towards her, restraining him, while she questioned his audacity to "seize" her power during her exile. Percival asserted that, rather than seizing power, he was fairly elected to serving his people instead. Undeterred, Beatrix dismissed Percival as "naïve", insisting that true leadership is about being served, rather than serving others, and sternly warns him about the helpless state he'll feel when she reclaims her "rightful" place on the throne of Imperium. Despite the odds, Percival's resolve remained firm, countering, "We'll be free, or perish!".

Lloyd arrives to Imperium, his new Draconus Form initiated, and ready to face Beatrix, yet again.

In response, Beatrix tightens her grip on him, threatening Percival and all of Imperium with death unless they submitted to their 'Empress'. With the Elemental Monsters either converging on or chasing any nearby Imperians, and Sora and Nya eventually being outnumbered and outmatched, at the last minute, Lloyd arrives onto the scene, in his new Draconus Form, and reverts back to his human form, making his presence known to Beatrix, Percival, and Nya. After Beatrix tosses Percival to the side, Lloyd confronts the cyborg face-to-face and demands her to relinquish the Weapon of Desolation, before letting out a mighty roar as he transforms back into his Draconus Form, declaring to Beatrix that she's toying with forces exceeding her comprehension, to which Beatrix retorts that she understood force very well, but expresses confusion (and disgust) over Lloyd's transformation into a dragon, finding it repulsive. In turn, Lloyd points out how Beatrix, and past enemies of the ninja, often underestimate their tenacity before addressing her own gruesome transformation into a monster. Angered, but undeterred, Beatrix corrected Lloyd, insistent of her title as 'Empress', arguing that her current state was a result of his and the other ninja's actions in "The Power Within". Recalling her escape from the Land of Monsters, Beatrix boldly declared that no ninja, in any form, will stop her now, as she and Lloyd lunge towards their opponent, initiating a showdown.

Lloyd, in the heat of his fight with Beatrix, lets out a burst of Life energy, reinstating his fellow ninja to regain and use their Elemental Powers again.

Outside the city's walls, Cole, Wyldfyre, Kai, Frak, Jay, and Riyu continue fighting the Elemental Monsters, but quickly begin to find how outmatched they are, whether it be because of their Elemental Powers acting out again, or how outnumbered they are in comparison to the numerous converging hordes. Back in the city, as she and Lloyd battle, Beatrix remarks on the Green Ninja's Draconus Form, acknowledging how Lloyd's newfound strength could crush any mortal with blows similar to his, but insisted it was still insufficient. Lloyd countered this by citing how his evolution went far beyond mere appearances, having come to understand his role and his connection to everything in the Merged Lands. However, Beatrix interrupted Lloyd's insights and dismissed them, demanding a fight as she instinctively seized him, caring not about his connections, but of his, alongside everyone else's destruction for opposing her. Upon breaking free from Beatrix's grasp after slamming him repeatedly onto the ground, Lloyd declares that she'll care about his connections, once he defeats her with them, before unleashing a burst of Life energy, re-establishing his fellow ninja's Elemental Powers and allowing them to freely use them without any worry or instability.

Although initially confused, Water, Lightning, Earth, Quake, Heat, and Fire surround Imperium with renewed hope as the ninja begin to even the odds with Beatrix's army, while Beatrix finds herself in a losing battle against Lloyd, who continues to overpower the cyborg using his Draconus Form's newfound strength and agility. In the ruckus, Beatrix unintentionally lets go of the Weapon of Desolation, leaving it within Lloyd's possession as they fall (but in Lloyd's case, fly) back to the city, but she instinctively regains possession of the Weapon before her opponent could reach it as they land on the city ground. In a similar manner, to the Liberation of Imperium, Lloyd attempts to try convincing Beatrix that she’s manipulating unbalanced Source Energy, a danger if recklessly used. Undeterred and self-assured like before, Beatrix dismissed Lloyd's warnings about the Weapon of Desolation's capabilities, believing the Weapon posed a threat only to her enemies. Attempting to seize Lloyd once again, she lunged her monstrous arm at him, but he countered by grabbing her arm and yanking it forward, sending her tumbling to the ground. As nearby Elemental Monsters look on, the Weapon of Desolation begins to surge with energy as Beatrix commanded some of them to destroy Lloyd.

Upon landing down on the streets of Imperium, Arin saves Nya and Sora using his Object Spinjitzu.

Meanwhile, Nya and Sora continue to get Imperian citizens to safety, while holding their own against the Elemental Monsters approaching them. Realizing Nya had her Water powers back, Sora sees she also has her Technology powers back as well as they both comment on the "green wave of power" Lloyd unleashed, as well as his sudden appearance in Imperium as a dragon and their powers working again. Seeing Beatrix pre-occupied, Sora asks Nya to accompany her to try and disable Beatrix's Empress Mech while Lloyd effortlessly, and singlehandedly, defeats waves among waves of Elemental Monsters. With Nya holding back any incoming forces, Sora was able to get close enough to Beatrix and enact her strategy, but because Beatrix's body has now been fused to her mech, along with the various monster parts grafted onto her body, to her and Nya's horror and disgust, it becomes clear that the ninja need to improvise and come up with a new plan, but before they could, an unexpected Mutation Monster intercepts and ambushes Nya and Sora, but just before it could finish them, Arin lands on a nearby lamp pole and uses his Object Spinjitzu to knock down the Mutation Monster, saving the girls. Sora then becomes overjoyed at seeing Arin again since "The Vault of Focus", and joyously embraces her best friend, much to Arin's delight. When asked by Nya how he got to the city, a nearby Fire Monster attempts to ambush the trio as they prepare to fight, but gets intercepted by Zane, making his presence known as he fires Ice projectiles from his chopper at any close range Elemental Monsters, while Euphrasia jumps down from one of the wings using her Wind powers and blasts an Earth Monster away from some nearby citizens. Meanwhile, Lloyd continues to tear apart numerous Elemental Monsters with the power of his Draconus Form, to Beatrix's astonishment, while Cole, Frak, Riyu, Wyldfyre, Kai, and Jay continue to push back any Elemental Monsters nearing the hole the Loyalists made recently, before entering the city and barricading the hole with Cole using his Earth powers to do so, preventing the remaining Elemental Monsters from coming in, for now. Soon, Jay alerts the group to witness Lloyd tearing through hordes of Elemental Monsters, whilst pushing back Beatrix as well. Commending Lloyd for his newfound abilites, Beatrix raises the Weapon of Desolation once more, as it unleashes another huge wave of energy as she gives more power to two nearby Earth Monsters and a Mutation Monster, increasing their size and strength, as well as altering their forms as all the ninja watch in shock and horror.

Upon getting bested by Lloyd, Beatrix infuses the Elemental Monsters with more power, as a result of extended usage of the Weapon of Desolation.

Dr. LaRow runs through the streets of Imperium with three Loyalists, attacking the Imperians who are still fighting. An enlarged Earth Monster and an enlarged Mutation Monster swipe at Lloyd, but he dodges both of them. Including Dr. LaRow, the Loyalists were surprised by the Weapon of Desolation's unexpected powers, which they hadn't anticipated. This revelation leads Dr. LaRow to question whether Beatrix is in control of the weapon, while one of the Loyalists was confident that this aligns with Beatrix's strategy. Lloyd tries to fight back the enlarged Elemental Monsters

Arin, through Cole, managing to successfully reactivate the Weapon of Desolation, ending the Loyalist assault.

After hearing the Arc Dragon of Life motivate him to remember his "true" power, Lloyd sends out another burst of Life energy, but this time, allowing Nya, Kai, Jay, and Zane to acquire their own Draconus Forms. With their new abilities, the outcome of this battle completely shifts, as the original ninja (minus Cole) take on the Elemental Monsters (normal or empowered by the Weapon of Desolation) with hardly any effort, leaving the new ninja astonished, except Wyldfyre, resenting Kai's and the original ninja's Draconus Forms specifically. With the upper hand in the ninja's favor, Lloyd takes the time to call Beatrix out for her earlier understatement regarding his new powers, before effortlessly knocking the Weapon of Desolation out of his opponent's possession. Before Beatrix could reclaim it, though, Euphrasia carries the weapon away from her grasp by using her Wind powers, before Cole stops her, warning her to avoid touching the weapon due to how Elemental Powers go haywire upon physical contact with it. With this in mind, Euphrasia wisely loans the weapon to Arin, who recognized what he needed to do in order to end the conflict. With a furious yell, Beatrix attempts to reclaim the weapon, only for Riyu to intervene and knock her back with one of his swords in retaliation for all the abuse she's inflicted on him and his fellow dragons. But before she could recover, though, two enlarged Earth Monsters shoot tar at her, knocking her unconscious in (presumably) retaliation for controlling them. With Beatrix out and the Elemental Monsters still a threat, Cole de-transforms from his empowered Golem form and runs over tells Arin that the word, "Bah-vaugnat", the same incantation Dr. LaRow recited in order to activate the Weapon of Desolation, had to be said forwards to put an end to the Elemental Monsters. After a couple of failed attempts, Cole eventually -- and correctly -- guesses that the word is "Tangauv-Hab!", to which Arin frantically and hopefully repeats... and in a bright huge wave of energy, all of the Elemental Monsters revert back to their energy states, as the ninja brace themselves against the power of the Weapon of Desolation, before Arin sucks them into the weapon, permanently, saving Imperium, and foiling Beatrix's plot again. Following the ninja's victory, the Arc Dragon of Life regains both their color and strength, using their Life medallion to heal and restore the Whispering Wood and the Acona back to full strength, declaring that, "The Legendary Green Ninja has succeeded.".

Sitting in isolation, in the Land of Eternal Dawn, is the realm's Monastery of Eternal Dawn.

In the aftermath of the Loyalist assault, all the ninja -- both original and new -- regroup and reunite for the first time in years before Lloyd explains the true meaning of his True Potential as the Green Ninja, which is to connect with others, unite and understand life through their perspectives, and enhance their powers, which came with the unexpected side effect of stabilizing the ninja's Elemental Powers and the original ninja receiving their own Draconus Forms. Lloyd then goes on to further explain more about the importance of connection, a strength often overlooked by many of their enemies. But before he could say more, the ninja's reunion is suddenly interrupted by scattering and dispersing Loyalists, who have either lost some faith in Beatrix or all or choose to outright destroy the ninja. While Jay and Cole reconcile after lost time, the team all move to detain and arrest most of the Loyalists, safe for two: Sora's parents, who smartly ditch their outfits to disguise and blend in with the populace to avoid suspicion. Following this, Beatrix is seen locked away with a medical team for potential treatment, while Percival brings Lloyd, Arin, and Sora to Borg Tower in order to interrogate Dr. LaRow, who's now been incarcerated yet integrated by the ninja for questions on how Beatrix was able to learn and find out about the Weapon of Desolation before Dr. LaRow snaps back at the appeal of the latter taking all the credit, to which Sora then berates her former hero and her fellow Loyalists for blindly following Beatrix despite all she's done. Upon admitting the truth behind her wanting Beatrix reinstated as "Empress", to Arin's concern, Dr. LaRow explains to the group that she found out about the weapon during her time in a place that she believes she could never find again, nor, if it even has a potential name. As Dr. LaRow says all of this, though, the portal gate of the Monastery of Eternal Dawn ominously glows an eerie red…

Returning to the Whispering Wood with Zane following the Loyalist assault, Lloyd has a one-on-one conversation with the Arc Dragon of Life, having realized that, with the realms all merged, Lloyd's duties and responsibilities as the Green Ninja had now expanded to him being the protector of the entire Merged Lands rather than just the Whispering Wood, a role significantly acknowledged by the majestic beast and a promise Lloyd vows to keep and live up to, with the utmost urgency.

Unexpectedly, Sora's parents suddenly reach the Monastery of Spinjitzu, arriving to visit their former "daughter", Sora.

Unexpectedly, Sora's parents suddenly reach the Monastery of Spinjitzu, arriving to visit their former "daughter", Sora.

Soon, all of the ninja return home to Ninjago, at the Monastery of Spinjitzu, where they celebrate their second victory over Beatrix, with Euphrasia even having decided to join them as well. As Riyu continues his training as a Dragon Ninja with Rontu, Zane and P.I.X.A.L. reunite through drawing, and Arin and Euphrasia enjoy some tea with Barry and Jenny, Sora comforts a disheartened Frak, who's feeling quite upset over his falling out with his father, Reginald, a gesture Frak takes sincerely, before the two are alerted to a small skirmish inside the monastery, which just happens to be Jay and Cole fighting over whose turn it might be for a video game controller. Laughing from the sight, Nya calmly breaks up the conflict by whispering in Jay's ear, telling him of something ambiguous as the couple exit outside. As Cole (having seemingly unlocked his own Draconus Form at some point after the Loyalist assault) heads out himself and meets up with Geo, who's overlooking Kai and Wyldfyre training, Lloyd looks at all of this from afar, with a warm smile on his face. Later on, Mr. Frohicky sweeps the monastery's courtyard while Sora recalls her time in Umbrasilvis to Arin, telling him of Reginald being in the Explorer's Club, and how lucky he is to have such incredible parents like Jenny and Barry, to Arin's gratitude. Suddenly, a knock is heard on the monastery's door and Mr. Frohicky goes to answer it, and to his and Arin's surprise, Sora, both confused and somewhat (yet understandably) distressed, identifies the ninja's unexpected visitors: her parents, who have come seemingly to visit their former "daughter".

Meanwhile, in the Monastery of Gates, Wu is shown to still be trapped in Gandalaria's old Protective container, floating about aimlessly in isolation. But then, suddenly, a portal gate opens up and Ras emerges from it, with an angry glare and scowl on his face, and a third Source Dragon Icon, this one, in the form of an ornate bow, now in his possession. Exiting the monastery, which is now, suddenly re-located in the Land of Eternal Dawn, rather than the City of Temples, he comes across the Shadow Dojo, having been re-located there as well since the events of "Rising Ninja". Turning to the sky, Ras calls to his ambiguous master and declares to "them" that he has now found and collected another Icon, bringing them ever so closer to their ultimate goals being fulfilled.

Trivia

Trivia[]

  • When asked what Zane and P.I.X.A.L. were painting in the end of the episode, in an interview hosted by Brent Miller, Chris "Doc" Wyatt couldn't respond because he didn't remember that happening. Miller himself jokingly suggested that he thinks "it's probably nudes."[5]
  • This episode is the only one where Jay and Nya get a Draconus Form transformation sequence, if only partially.
    • Said transformation sequence only has audible grunts for Nya, Kai and Jay, but none for Zane.
  • This episode is the only appearance of the Earth Monster's empowered form.
  • This is the last episode of Season 4 where Rontu appears, only having a mention in "Monster in the Monastery."
  • This is the last episode of Part 1 to have the Finders.
  • This is the only episode in Part 1 where Riyu performs Spinjitzu.
  • Jay recieves his Draconus Form, and thus, his Draconus Suit, making it the first ninja gi for Jay from Dracons Rising that actually appears in the show.

Continuity[]

  • This episode marks the first time Jay has said Lloyd's name in Ninjago: Dragons Rising, and the first time in an episode since "Roots", exactly 70 episodes before this one.
  • As of this episode, all of the original ninja (except for Cole) have taken on the Draconus Form.
    • Cole can be seen in his Draconus Suit during the end of the episode, implying that he took on the Draconus Form offscreen.
      • The Draconus Suit is the first suit all the original 6 pre-Merge ninja share on-screen since their Core gi.
        • Zane's stance when he get his Draconus Form seems to resemble the Swooping Crane pose.
        • Lloyd is the only one to have all the highlights of his Draconus Form light up. For everyone else, it is just the highlights of their claws that light up.
  • This episode marks the first time that the Shadow Dojo has appeared in the present day since "The Shape of Motion". It also marks the first appearance of the Gong of Shattering since "The Final Game".
  • Jay and Cole remember the noodle-shaped crack in the Monastery wall that they made, first seen in the flashback scene in "Fugitives From Madness".
  • This episode marks the first time all 6 original ninja, P.I.X.A.L., and all of the new ninja are in the Monastery together.
    • It is also the first time where all of the ninja are reunited in the same place.
  • Jay returns the hug Cole offered him in "The Shatter Dragon".
    • Coincidentally, both episodes were the respective endings for Part 1 of Season 3 and Season 4.
  • This episode marks the return of Sora's parents, appearing in the ending of the Loyalist assault and avoiding being arrested, having been last seen in "The Power Within".
    • It is unknown how they know where the Monastery of Spinjitzu is while they left Imperium to visit their daughter.
  • Jay fully and officially rejoins the ninja by the end of the episode.
    • He is also the last of the pre-Merge ninja to still be missing his S11-onwards weapon, the golden kusarigama. Given how Agent Blake Donovan hid his Core gi in a suitcase in the ground around the spot where he and some Administration Agents 'found' Jay after he had his memories suppressed, it's possible that the weapon is still in The Administration itself.
    • It's also unclear if he can do Spinjitzu again now that he has some of his memories back, but as of right now, he is the only one of the original six Ninja to not use Spinjitzu.
  • Ras makes his only on-screen appearance for this half of Season 4 in this episode, and in possession of another Source Dragon Icon, taking on the form of a bow.
    • It's possible that the bow is the Icon of the Source Dragon of Focus, as Focus is responsible for the Elemental Power of Ice, which Zane is the current Elemental Master of, and he used a bow throughout the Oni and Dragon trilogy.

Errors[]

  • At the beginning of the sequence of Lloyd powering up into his Draconus Form, the Loyalists, Imperians and Elemental Monsters behind him vanish.
  • In the scene of the Draconus Ninja fighting the Elemental Monsters, Jay has Nya's sound bytes when he is grunting while fighting a Mutation Monster.
  • When Jay is powering up into his Draconus Form, he has his short hair despite not having have cut off his ponytail yet.
    • The burst of Life energy Lloyd sent out could have reformatted his hair.
  • Ras is not listed in the credits, despite him making a minor appearance in the ending of the episode.
  • When fighting the Elemental Masters, Lloyd's wrist can be seen clipping through his paw.
  • When seen talking to his master, Ras' bottom right tooth can be seen clipping through his tongue.
