History[]

Background[]

The Lava Dragons live in the Lava Wastes, adapting the climate there. One day, Heatwave found a mysterious capsule that fell from the sky, containing a baby and its Caregiver bot. The baby was named Wyldfyre and was taken care by the Lava Dragons, including Heatwave. The dragons told Wyldfyre stories about the Dragon Masters, telling her about the great Egalt, who had a mountain named after him. Eventually, most of the dragons from Wyldfyre's entourage fell ill from the Wasting Sickness and died from it, leaving Heatwave as the only guardian for Wyldfyre. After the Merge, Heatwave and the Caregiver bot trained Wyldfyre in using her new element, Heat. Several years later, Heatwave was captured by the Claws of Imperium.

Dragons Rising, Season 1[]

With the help of Lloyd, Wyldfyre was able to locate Heatwave's cell in an Imperium Prison and introduced the dragon to him, who was initially confused by the dragon's guardianship. Eventually, the two Elemental Masters released the other dragons, and led an escape across the Kingdom of Imperium, confronting the Claws of Imperium and the Photacs on numerous occasions, before they sought refuge in the Monastery of Imperium and travelled to another monastery through a portal gate. There Heatwave set up his new home with Wyldfyre along with the other dragons in the newly established dragon stables.

In the following weeks, Heatwave assisted the ninja into stopping the frequently occuring MergeQuakes, and travelled back to the Wyldness alongside Wyldfyre and Kai to find a Dragon Core to stabilize the Merged Realms. During their journey, they stopped at a forest and came into a quick with the Greenbone Warriors. Once the Kai and Wyldfyre found the core and came into a conflict with the Lava-Tides, Dorama and his stagehands, Heatwave arrived in the village and fought off the enlargened Lava-Tide Leader, who shot a blast of fire at his chest, injuring him before leaving with the pair.

In the Lava Wastes, Kai and Wyldfyre used melted crystals to heal Heatwave's injuries, while the dragon recovered, the three travelled back to the monastery, where the healed Heatwave later celebrated alongside Jiro and Zanth after the ninja stabilized the Merged Lands.

Dragons Rising, Season 2[]

Over a year after the MergeQuake Storm, Heatwave continued to live in the dragon stables, briefly taking care of Wyldfyre after she broke her leg during a fight with Cinder.

Return to the Wyldness[]

After the Ritual of the Blood Moon, the Dragon Tribe Celebration in the Wyldness had begun, and members of the Fire Dragon Tribe travelled to celebrate. Far away from Mount Egalt, Flameheart laid three Dragon eggs, but later lost them after they rolled through a cracked hole into a cave. In the Monastery of Spinjitzu, Wyldfyre was grieving the loss of Kai, who was sent to the Nether-Space, to help her cope, Heatwave brought her to the Wyldness. After she saw that he was trying to bring her to a Dragon Tribe Celebration, she decided to go in a cave instead, where she witnessed the dragon eggs hatch and helped the three baby dragons navigate through the caves, and avoided getting them eaten by a Cave Snake and fire spiders. After getting the infant dragons out of the cave, the four reunited with Heatwave and Flameheart, the latter being relieved to see her children safe, who departed with them after Wyldfyre gave away her hair bone as a parting gift.

Dragons Rising, Season 2[]

Some time later Heatwave and Zanth took away on their back Wyldfyre and Nya to the Land of Madness to find there Arin, Sora and Riyu after they just found the Matriarch of the Mountain Dragons dying. Wyldfyre introduced herself and Heatwave to the Arc Dragon. When the Matriarch eventually succumbed, Heatwave, Zanth and Wyldfyre let out a roar of despair.

After the ninja found the Matriarch's baby in her nursing pouche, Heatwave, Zanth and Riyu led them to the World Forest to find out the tribe of the baby dragon, Heatwave carrying on his back Wyldfyre and Nya. When the group was attacked by the Freebooters during the travel, Heatwave fought them and notably saved Lloyd from falling in the void. They were finally saved from their attackers by some Mountain Dragons who then escorted them to their nest. Heatwave and the group eventually entrusted the baby matriarch to her tribe and go back to the monastery.

Dragons Rising, Season 3[]

Weels after the Tournament of the Sources, Heatwave and the other dragons continued to stay at the dragon stables while the ninja figured out a way to stop the Forbidden Five from freeing Thunderfang. A week afterwards, Heatwave, Zanth and Jiro accompanied the ninja to the Training plateau of the Dragon Masters and joined Egalt's final moments, roaring together after his passing. During the Spectral invasions, Heatwave heard the Jet Mech landing in the Hangar bay, which passengered Barry and Jenny Nived.

Trivia[]

• The Fire Dragon Tribe doesn't stick to one large community, unlike some other dragon tribes. Instead, they prefer to live in small, nomadic family groups. They only gather as a whole during special occasions like the Dragon Tribe Celebration.^[2]
  • One of their smaller groups are the Lava Dragons who live in the Lava Wastes with Heatwave as their leader.
• Chris "Doc" Wyatt stated that there's variation in appearance among various nomadic families in the tribe.^[7][8]
• It is unknown if the Fire Dragons from the First land are part of the Fire Dragon Tribe.
