Overview
The Source Dragon of Life is one of the seven Source Dragons. Hence their name, they represent the source of Life, serving as the foundation for all the Elemental Powers related to their source.
History
History[]
Background[]
The Source Dragon of Life, among the seven Source Dragons, played a crucial role in maintaining balance across the realms. Each Source Dragon represented a unique source,[8] with the Source Dragon of Life specifically embodying life. As a result, the emergence of Elemental Powers]) was influenced by the Source Dragons.[9] On a fateful day, the First Spinjitzu Master approached the Source Dragon of Life, along with their fellow dragons, and humbly implored them to willingly contribute their dragon energy. This request was made in order to create the Dragon Cores, which were instrumental in averting the Coalescence,[10] an imminent event wherein all realms would merge into a single world, a consequence brought about by the immense power of the Source Dragons.[11]
When Thunderfang, the dragon of Chaos, attacked the City of Temples after being rejected from the council of the Source Dragons, the council decided to send the mortal avatar of the Source Dragon of Focus, the Arc Dragon of Focus to stop the Chaos dragon. After having completed its task, the avatar of the Focus Source Dragon was split into two halves, which were put into a deep slumber.
Dragons Rising, Season 2[]
Beyond the Phantasm Cave[]
The Source Dragon of Life and the others appeared before Lloyd by summoning him to their void. The Source Dragon of Strength inquired about Lloyd's connection to an Element and which dragon claimed him, while the Source Dragon of Life declared Lloyd as one of their own and a descendant of the First Spinjitzu Master. The Source Dragon of Energy reflected on Lloyd's role as a conduit for his life force, while the Source Dragon of Life pondered the potential consequences of a mortal being directly exposed. But the Source Dragon of Energy stressed Lloyd's uniqueness and requested aid, despite the Source Dragons typically remaining neutral in mortal matters.
Dragons Rising, Season 3[]
Casket of Bones[]
Upon discovering Thunderfang's grand scheme to ascend to the status of a Source Dragon after his demise and subsequent arrival in the Spectral Lands, the Source Dragons convened to deliberate on whether they should take action. The Source Dragon of Strength firmly asserted that they should refrain from meddling in mortal matters, while the Source Dragon of Motion countered that Thunderfang posed a significant threat to their kind. The Source Dragon of Life interjected, pointing out that the Source Dragons' first entanglement with mortals had led to this predicament. They regretted their past support of the First Spinjitzu Master, which was influenced by the Source Dragon of Balance, who had favored mortals and cast the deciding vote and awarded him. Now, with Balance gone, the Source Dragons found themselves at an impasse. As the debate intensified between the Source Dragons of Motion and Focus, who were contemplating whether to summon the Arc Dragon of Focus to confront Thunderfang, the Source Dragon of Life and the others were suddenly made aware by the Source Dragon of Strength that Lloyd had been eavesdropping on their discussion.
Chaos Reigns[]
The ninja's decision to awaken the Arc Dragon of Focus against Thunderfang resulted in a fallout among the Source Dragons. Angered, Strength, Life, and Focus withdrew from the Council, leaving only Motion, Flow, and Energy behind. Flow condemned the ninja's actions, declaring it unthinkable that mortals would dare command Focus's personal avatar without their consent. However, Motion defended their actions that while it was improper, it had spared the council from destruction, calling Lloyd’s choice both bold and necessary.
Energy, however, grieved the price of that decision. With Focus, Life, and Strength gone, the balance of Elemental Powers unraveled, casting all Elemental Masters into impending chaos. Flow warned that their broken unity had betrayed the vow they once made to the First Spinjitzu Master—an omen that this cycle might soon end, leaving the world in a far more perilous state. The Source Dragon of Life's departure from the Council of Sources was sensed by their mortal avatar, the Arc Dragon of Life.
Other appearances and mentions
Other appearances and mentions[]
The Shape of Motion[]
The Source Dragon of Motion informed the ninja that the three Arc Dragons who were slain were all subject to the powers of both herself and the Life Source Dragon.
The Shatter Dragon[]
As Thunderfang battled the ninja, he inquired about Lloyd's role as a conduit, specifically questioning which Source Dragon's energy he was channeling. After speculating that it might be the Source Dragons of Motion or Strength, Thunderfang suggested the possibility of Lloyd being the conduit for the Source Dragon of Life, remarking on the irony if true.
Personality
Personality[]
The Source Dragon of Life is a wise, empathetic, and reflective entity among the seven Source Dragons, embodying the essence of life itself. Revered for their role in shaping and sustaining balance across the realms, they once aided the First Spinjitzu Master by contributing dragon power to forge the Dragon Cores and made a promise to him with the other Source Dragons—an act they later reflect upon with regret due to its unforeseen consequences. Though typically neutral in mortal affairs, the Dragon of Life demonstrates a deep sense of responsibility and caution, particularly when mortals like Lloyd harnessing Source Dragon energy. They value legacy, acknowledge the complexity of their past actions, and often act as a voice of reason among their peers, advocating for careful deliberation over rash decisions. However, the Source Dragon of Life also seems to have a slightly nihilistic side as they eventually regretted in getting involved in mortal affairs by making the promise to the First Spinjitzu Master, despite their previous words, rationalizing the opinion because it brought nothing but pain and suffering to the Source Dragons. Thus, they voted to remove themselves from the mortal world, despite knowing Thunderfang will kill them all. Ultimately, Life chose to leave the Council of Sources alongside Focus and Strength when the Arc Dragon of Focus was awakened against their will despite knowing that it could throw reality into chaos.
