Background[]

Centuries ago, the Dragon Masters visited Mysterium to find Gandalaria, the high sorceress of the realm. The Dragon Masters, sought her assistance to banish the Forbidden Five forever. In response, Gandalaria made them a spell to banish the five.^[4] At some point, when cyclops twins Torex and Xerot got angry, the wizards ended up in a hundred-year war, which some found the most inconvenient.^[5]

In the year 45 AL, the Wizard Guard thought he had a spell for normal-sized heads, only for it to fail and cause a head shrinking incident. As a result, people began refusing to listen to him.^[5]

At some point in time, the Carnus Conclave, an influential group of powerful wizards who were known for prognosticating future events and selling their precognitions to the highest bidders, tried to free Thunderfang, which did not end well.^[6] Later, at one point, they unwisely crossed their powerful clients, which ultimately led to their collapse.^[7] During this incident, Gandalaria's life was saved by her own crystal ball, causing her to become more sentimental towards it.^[5]

At some point in time, Hazza D'ur, a necromancer from Abracalabria, made a city inside Shintaro Mountain using Dark Magic. Later, he was vanquished, but his skeletal remains stayed in the Dungeons of Shintaro in a restricted cave near his statue.^[8] However, the Dark Magic still remained in his skull, allowing his soul to persist.^[9]

Later, Bansha, a sorceress from Mysterium,^[10] was either banished to the Cursed Realm or sent there upon death, where she entered into the services of The Preeminent as one of the Ghost Warriors.

After learning that the Skull of Hazza D'ur still remains in the Dungeons of Shintaro, Vangelis hired Fungus, a skilled magician from Mysterium, alongside Korgran and Plundar to destroy the skull for the safety of Shintaro, forming the Lowly. As Fungus explored the Dungeons of Shintaro with his team, they met with Adam, a young spiderling who accompanied them in their journey. After finding the skull, the Lowly brough it to Vangelis. However, Vangelis changed his mind and dropped Fungus and rest of the Lowly down the mountain when they disapproved.^[9]

When the Preeminent threatened to curse the realms but needed to arrange for Morro's escape into Ninjago, Bansha contacted with Fenwick as an emissary from her master, threating his life. Fearing for his life, Fenwick accepted the deal, in exchange for ensuring Morro's escape from the Cursed Realm by prophecy, his life would be spared.^[11]

Fungus was at the palace alongside with the rest of the Upply when Cole arrived.

Crystalized[]

Fungus arrived from Shintaro with the rest of the Upply, Vania, the Army of Shintaro, the Geckles and Munce and joined the Resistance in the fight against the crystal army. Fungus and the rest of the Resistance watched the Dragon Formed ninja from unleashing a golden blast from the Golden Weapons against the Crystal Island, until all of Ninjago was crystalized. After the Overlord was defeated later on, Fungus celebrated with the rest of the Resistance, and they later all helped the ninja rebuild the Monastery of Spinjitzu

Dragons Rising, Season 2[]

After Bonzle's story, Cole and Zane decided to go Mysterium to find the Sorceress in the story. As they arrived in Mysterium, they encountered a monastery that looked very similar to their monastery, where they found Gandalaria, the Sorceress. At first, Gandlaria thought they were the Slug Merchants, only to see Bonzle and recognize her. After the ninja told her that Ras wanted Bonzle to free the Forbidden Five during the Ritual of the Blood Moon, Gandalaria offered to take them to her storagehouse in the Wyldness, where they find something to protect Bonzle, Unfortunately, the Administration Agents appeared at the door, demanding Zane back and impounding Jiro nearly at the moment Blood Moon. Despite Zane's efforts, the Administration Agents eventually entered the monastery. Thankfully, the ninja were able to get out of their and free Jiro with the help of Gandalaria.

After arriving in the Wyldness and passing by some Wolf Mask Warriors, they entered the storagehouse, where Gandalaria found the protective container. After putting Bonzle into the container, Gandalaria tried to enchant it. Unfortunately, Jordana arrived at the storagehouse and trapped them while also taking Bonzle with her. Thankfully, they were able get out of the trap thanks to Zane. Gandalaria started looking for an exit, much to no avail. However, the shrinking spell Gandalaria threw at Zane gave Cole and idea, which allowed them to get out of the storagehouse. Then, they started searching for Bonzle. While searching for her, they noticed that the Cloud Kingdom was losing attitude. Thinking that Jordana took Bonzle to there, Cole and Zane went to the Cloud Kingdom by using Spinjitzu, while Gandalaria used Hatty. When they arrived at the Cloud Kingdom, they noticed that Bonzle is absent. Instead, they learned about Ras' plan to bring down the Cloud Kingdom. To stop his plan, they headed to the motor room, where Cole decided to use his Elemental Earth Mech. As Cole tried to fix the motor, Gandalaria stayed outside to stop Writers of Destiny from falling down. However, Cole's mech was not enough. Cole wanted Gandalaria to use the size-changing spell on Zane again. Unfortunately, even after Gandalaria used the spell, it was not enough to stop the Cloud Kingdom from losing its attitude. Thankfully, Euphrasia used his Wind powers, stopping the Cloud Kingdom and the people inside it from falling down. After the Ritual of the Blood Moon, Suetonius thanked the ninja alongside Gandalaria. When Zane noted that Bonzle might have used the last of her magic to battle Jordana and close the gate, Gandalaria expressed that she was proud of her.

Later, Gandalaria babysat Spitz and Fritz while Geo was participating in the Tournament of the Sources.^[12]

Dragons Rising, Season 3[]

Gandalaria visited Abracalabria to fix her crystal ball, only for Abracalabria and its inhabitants to get attacked by invisible creatures. Later, when Ras, Arin and Sora arrived at the village, their way was blocked by the Wizard Guard and some other wizards. When, Ras demanded an audience with the Pontifex Magicus, Wizard Guard told them that strangers are no longer welcomed. However, Ras entered the village by force, only to see the hollowed inhabitants, including the Pontifex Magicus. Wizard Guard told him that last night they were attacked by invisible creatures, which caused some of the inhabitants to think Arin, Sora and Ras are the ones who attacked them, only for Gandalaria to come in and clear the situation. However, they were attacked by Spectral Dragonians again. As the spectral invasion continued, more of the inhabitants continued to get hollowed. During the invasion, Ras learned that Gandalaria has a map to the Underworld. Because of this, Ras wanted Sora and Arin to protect Gandalaria, only for her the get hollowed as well. After the invasion, Arin and Sora decided to return Gandalaria back to her home, thinking that it will help her return to normal. However, when they arrived in the monastery, they encountered the security system of it, who was a hologram copy of Gandalaria. Thankfully, they were able to get out of the situation with the help of Gandalaria's crystal ball. After finding the map in the library of the monastery, they left Gandalaria at the monastery with the hope of it will help her return back to normal

When Nya arrived at Mysterium to summon the purple half of the Arc Dragon of Focus, she encountered Gandalaria's hollowed body, much to her surprise. Then, she was attacked by a samurai, only to find out it's actually a magical backup coconut of Gandalaria.

After Thunderfang's defeat, the inhabitants of Mysterium were unhollowed. As Kai, Nya and Jay were going back to Ninjago, they gave coconut copy to Gandalaria, much to her happiness. Gandalaria waved at the ninja as they leaved

After the Battle of the Spectral Lands[]

The Argor Conclave, a group of wizards, found some interstitial space bubbles.^[13]

The wizards treat magic as a craft that can be studied and applied through spells, potions, and crystal balls. Their society is ancient and deeply structured, led by the Pontifex Magicus.

Some wizards are organized into specialized groups and conclaves, such as the Carnus and Argor Conclaves. They also maintaining its own dating system where major events are recorded as "A.L.". Despite their power, wizards often depicted as somewhat eccentric or prone to magical mishaps; for example, the Wizard Guard lost public trust in 45 A.L. after a head-shrinking incident and the wizards once endured a hundred-year war triggered by the anger of Torex and Xerot.^[5]
