Plot
Plot[]
Arin was beginning to train his Spinjitzu, but took out his Lloyd plush and stared at it sadly. Ras tells Arin to begin his training, but Arin got flashbacks of him baking pies for the ninjas. All of the ninjas enjoyed it, but then he looked sad, as it pans back to him also being sad. Ras, impatiently, tells Arin again to begin his training. Arin puts away his plush, kicks a pile of rocks, and uses Spinjitzu to crash into more pile of rocks. Ras tells Arin to transfer his Spinjitzu to Object Spinjitzu, but Arin fails to complete. Ras knows Arin is thinking about the ninjas and they argue that the ninjas are heroic or not. Ras reminds Arin on the ninjas not saving his parents, which Arin agrees with him. Ras shows signs of him getting worse from the pain Nokt did to him, Ras also tells Arin that he is dying. Ras knows a place from the Spectral Lands that can help his injury, then Arin begins carrying him on his back towards the place.
At the Crossroads, Kai tries to ask a Merlopian if he knew the whereabouts of Jay, although he did not know where he is. Kai, confused on a comment about the electric eel, walks away from him and goes to Nya. Nya is angry about the strategy of finding Jay, which Wyldfyre doesn't have a better idea to find him. Kai gets an idea on how to find Jay. He will find Jay by beating his High score from Galamorph X-Post at the new arcade, Lobbo's Totally Rad Arcade, Lobbo-Lobbo. Kai knows that if he beats Jay, he will come back from any Merged Realms to get his top spot back. Nya argues about the plan not going to work, but Kai is confident Jay will know.
Ras begins to open his eyes, as Arin is struggling to get to the Spectral Lands with Ras. Close to the Spectral Lands, there were too many rocks to carry Ras in, that Arin decides to leave him behind. Ras tells Arin that he needs healing elixir from the Well of the Lost, then tells him it's located in the village center, hilltop. Arin was about to go into the Spectral Lands, but Ras stops him to give him the Returning Blade, telling him he will need it. Arin begins to enter into the Spectral Lands, nervously. He shivers on the way to the top of the stairs.
Inside the Lobbo's Totally Rad Arcade, Lobbo-Lobbo, Lobbo begins to welcoming the ninjas to his arcade. Lobbo shows around the games he invented, such as Whack-a-Lobbo and Lobbo-Roll-O. Kai was about to ask Lobbo if he has the Galamorph X-Post, but was interrupted from Lobbo thinking he was a delicious meal, showing Lobbo's world-famous endless Casserole Pit Lobbo-Lobbo. Kai finally ask Lobbo about the Galamorph X-Post, then Lobbo shows him where it is. Kai is amazed about the Galamorph X-Post, but Nya is frustrated with the plan. Wyldfyre is going to wonder off, trying to find the Organize your bedroom game in the arcades. Instead of finding her game, she stumble across a new game about blasting metours, then begins to play the game.
Back at the Spectral Lands, Arin freak out from the leaf blows near him and got his leg stuck into a bucket. The tree seemed to fall on him, but was just creaking the wood. When Arin was running, the wooden blind shut on the window, then made Arin throw the Returning Blade at it, which it returned. Arin begins making his way to the Village center, hilltop, but was pushed by a soul. The soul then begins to attack an invisible species that Arin couldn’t see. Morro tells Arin to look through the Returning Blade, revealing him fighting Soul Suckers. Arin and Morro fought off the one Soul Sucker attacking them, as it ran off. Arin thinks its over, but Morro tells him that there is more of them.
Wyldfyre stars munching on Lobbo's world-famous endless Casserole Pit Lobbo-Lobbo, while Kai is trying to beat Jay's high score on Galamorph X-Post. There is a time-lapse of Wyldfyre playing games, Kai gets frustrated at the Galamorph X-Post and Nya becomes upset about the plan. Nya is remembering of Kai, Cole, and Jay were playing video games in the Monastery, Nya joining them.
In the Spectral Lands, Morro tries to get Arin out of the Spectral Lands, but Arin explains that he can not go unless he gets the healing elixir from the Well of the Lost. Arin talks about his teacher — Ras — dying, which Morro feels remorse since he had a teacher once. Morro knows where the well is and helps Arin get to it. Arin looks through the Returning Blade, as he saw many Soul Sucker looking dangerous.
Kai gets to a new level of the game, then beats Jay's high score, making him very happy that he beat him. Kai expects Jay to walk into the doors of Lobbo's Totally Rad Arcade, Lobbo-Lobbo, as hearing someone walking in. They both get very exciting, but disappointed once it was Fugi-Dove and not Jay. Nya, now disappointed, wanted to give up on the plan, but Kai wanted more time to wait.
Arin and Morro is trying to avoid all of the Soul Suckers in the Spectral Lands. Morro explains that the Departed Realm and Cursed Realm got messed up and mixed together. The Departed souls were able to move on after the Merge. Arin questions on why Morro is still in the Spectral Lands, which he answers that he wants to protect everyone to passes through the Spectral Lands. Then, they finally got to the Well of the Lost.
Nya thinks the plan did not work, so they all ended up leaving. While they were all leaving, the Galamorph X-Post starts beeping and Wyldfyre notice it. They all three investigate what is happening, while someone is playing the game without being there. Kai and Nya know who’s the one person playing the Galamorph X-Post, to Wyldfyre’s confusion.
Arin begins to collect enough healing elixir from the Well of the Lost, into a bottle. Morro teaches Arin that masters can be tough sometimes and tell his backstory to him. He explains on why he protects people now, but was interrupted from Soul Suckers, which Morro now tries to get Arin out of the Spectral Lands, safely.
Jay beats Kai's high score, with the latter complaining that he spent all day to beat the former’s high score, only for his high score to be beaten soon after. Jay’s name appears on the screen, and Nya reads his name as she hugs Kai.
Morro and Arin made their escape from the Spectral Lands when Morro was suddenly attacked by a Soul Sucker. Arin leaps in to save him, but in the chaos, he trips and drops the healing elixir. Ras, who has been watching, realizes Arin has the elixir and starts crawling toward it. Meanwhile, Morro urges Arin to leave the Spectral Lands, but Arin stands his ground. Just then, three Soul Suckers target the vulnerable Ras, prompting Arin to spring into action. Using Object Spinjitzu with the Returning Blade, he defeats the Soul Suckers and rushes to Ras, feeding him the elixir. Afterward, Morro comforts Arin and requests Arin should to tell his master, Master Wu, that he was right. This revelation shocks Arin, as the ninja believed Wu died in the Merge. Morro reassures him, stating that if Wu died, he would have known and sensed his presence in the Spectral Lands. Just then, a Soul Sucker interrupts them, as Morro walks away to go back to the Spectral Lands. Arin carries Ras on his shoulder, away from the Spectral Lands, but not before stating that the term 'hero' isn't meaningless.
In the Storm Village, the Forbidden Five meets with the Dragonians, but the Forbidden Five messes with the village. Nokt then punches a rock away, revealing Thunderfang's prison. They all go in, seeing Thunderfang, chained in Prismatic Steel Chains. He reveals that he knew they were coming, and that he empowered them five to, ideally, each get a Prismatic Blade and cut each chain. They both make a deal with the Forbidden Five releasing him for more evil powers. Thunderfang gave them a Sobrient Stone from one of his claws, which would corrupt the Dragonians and empower the Forbidden Five.
In the middle of the First Land, Lloyd, Sora, Frak, and Riyu are sitting by the campfire, when Riyu senses the Dragonians' distress.

Trivia
Trivia[]
- Though the Ninja often change suits between episodes, it is unknown why Kai and Nya started wearing their Storm Suits in this episode as they would not be of any benefit to their search for Jay.
Continuity[]
- This episode marks Morro's first physical appearance since "Day of the Departed" and his first appearance overall since "Pause and Effect."
- This is also Morro's first appearance in the WildBrain animation.
- This makes Morro the eighth named character from the original series apart from the ninja to appear in Ninjago: Dragons Rising. The other characters are:
- Gulch from Master of the Mountain who appeared in "Wyldly Inappropriate."
- The Mechanic from Skybound who appeared in "The Mech Master."
- Fugi-Dove from Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu who appeared in "The Blood Moon."
- Tox and Mr. Pale from Tournament of Elements who appeared in "Enter the City of Temples."
- Neuro and Chamille from Tournament of Elements who appeared in "The Sword Shatters."
- Morro's first general appearance was in the finale episode of Tournament of Elements.
- This also marks the second time a villain from the original series returned for Dragons Rising, with the first instance being the Mechanic.
- Morro calling himself a Ninja throughout the episode can be seen as a callback to what Wu told him in "Curseworld, Part II" being "I trained you to be a Ninja who protects, not one who destroys".
- Morro telling Arin to use the Returning Blade to see the Soul Suckers is a possible reference to Morro's use of the Sword of Sanctuary. Another sword that Morro used by looking at it's blade to see his enemies, although with the Sword of Sanctuary it involved seeing his enemies' next move.
- When Morro tells Arin about his relationship with Wu and how he betrayed him, his theme from when Wu first discovered he was a Master of Wind in "Ghost Story" plays.
- Thunderfang's method of corrupting the Dragonians seems to be by having them be possessed by the souls of previous Dragonian Warriors, as souls are shown leaving the shattered gem.
- If this is the case, then it would share similarities to Jordana being possessed by Rox in "Rising Ninja."
- This episode clarifies that Arin does not hate the ninja, he only hates Master Wu, due to him causing the Merge and causing his parents to go missing.
Errors[]
- Although it is quite common for characters in Ninjago to hide objects that are too large into their clothes, Ras carrying the Returning Blade all the way since the Tournament of the Sources seems impossible as he wears almost no clothes and he had no reason to have it around in "Elements of Betrayal".
- When asked about why Ras never used the blade, Chris "Doc" Wyatt replied with "Not his style".[5] However, it is still unclear how he was able to hold it with minimal clothes.
- Upon walking through the entrance of Thunderfang's prison alongside the rest of the Forbidden Five, Kur's left hand briefly glowed red.
- In the arcade machine's screen, Jay's name wrote as "JKY" instead of "JAY".
