Frogs, Bees, and Dragon Hunters
Frogs, Bees, and Dragon Hunters[]
One day during his childhood, Riyu decided to venture around his home to play but the Matriarch of his herd warned him about the presence of strangers in the woods nearby and ordered him to have returned before nightfall. He went there then and met a swarm of bees and then a group of frogs with whom he played and became became friends. While the sun began to set, Riyu wanted to go back home but heard a laugh nearby and decided to go and see. They were a group of Imperians led by Rapton, who were camping in the forest. Riyu observes they and heard them talk about dragon hunt, so understand they were a menace for his tribe. He then wanted to return as quickly as possible to his family to warn the Matriarch of this danger but accidentally steps on a branch whose cracking alerts the hunters to its presence. The Imperium Guard Commanders then set off in pursuit of him to capture him. Despite his efforts and the help of his bee and frog friends, Riyu was eventually captured by the Claws of Imperium.[1]

Dragons Rising, Season 1[]
The Merge: Part 1[]
Riyu managed to escape from the Claws of Imperium before making his way to the Crossroads, just underneath the racetrack of the Mech Master 5000, disrupting Kreel from winning before fleeing as Rapton managed to catch up with him. Arin and Sora, choosing to abandon the race, came to his rescue, Riyu enhancing Sora's power in the process, only to be defeated by Lord Ras, who recaptured him, along with Arin and Sora.
The Merge: Part 2[]
After Lloyd freed Arin and Sora, the latter tried to show Lloyd what Riyu did to her, only for nothing to happen. Noting this, Arin took off to find Riyu in another compartment, where he freed him before the baby dragon knocked him down and started licking him as thanks. Riyu then gives Sora another spark, which she used to turn the Imperium Swords into bombs before they jump off the train. While getting acquainted, Lloyd amazed how Riyu powers Sora up, the baby dragon made a sculpture of his home with debris to show them. Later, finding a scroll with his home on it: The Land of the Three Mountains. When Sora intended to get the Destiny's Bounty started with Riyu's help, he doesn't comply, due to no impending danger, causing her to do it by hand, at one point having a wrench land in his mouth. While on the way to the mountain, Arin and Sora play fetch with Riyu, using nunchucks, until they arrived, unknowingly leading the Claws of Imperium to the mountains, where they were shot down before being saved by the Matriarch of the Mountain Dragons, whom, identifying Riyu by name, accused the ninja of harming him before Riyu managed to talk her down. After taking down the Claw Hunters and the Matriarch announcing plans to relocate, Arin and Sora say their goodbyes to Riyu, but he chooses to stay with them.
Crossroads Carnival[]
Waking up, Riyu follows Arin out to the training ground, where he does handstand push-ups before doing sit-ups. When Arin and Sora went to the Crossroads Carnival, they bring Riyu along, disguising him as a dog with Lloyd's meditation carpet, a basket, and a pair of socks. He was offended by Grab-Barg calling him a weird little dog, because of his disguise before they see Kreel's gang kidnap Lobbo. In order to catch up with Arin, Sora has Riyu give her a spark and modify her salvaged mech that was used as a DJ set into a bike before they move to catch up with Arin. Arriving at the junkyard and facing the Whack Rats, Riyu lures one into a space between two shipping containers before learning Kreel needed the money to pay for a ransom on her friend, Targle. Finding the location, they realize Dorama, a fireworks magician, was responsible, wanting to use Whack Rat energy to overpower his fireworks display. With help from Lloyd, they manage to rescue the Whack Rats with Riyu managing to grab Dorama before he could escape.
Beyond Madness[]
Riyu chases a butterfly around the monastery training area. When the old Bounty returned to the monastery, Riyu accompanied Lloyd, Arin, and Sora to the last known location before its return: the Land of Madness, where an ongoing war between Craglings and Earth Dragons was occurring. Upon the dragons leaving and Nya bringing them to meet Crag-Nor, Riyu was met with hostility, due to being a dragon. When the dragons return and started to eat the Cragling's mud, Riyu managed to drain them before becoming exhausted, the Craglings setting the hostilities aside as thanks.
Writers of Destiny[]
Still recovering from the energy drain, Riyu stayed on the Bounty, where Arin fed him a Snowberry Pie.
Return to Imperium[]
Riyu attempts to assist the ninja in trying to defend a lightning dragon from the Claws of Imperium, but are stopped by a Photac, an old invention of Sora's. While planning a way to get into Imperium, Riyu holds a can, giving them an idea to enter through the sewer system.
Despite their intrusion easily notified, they manage to enter the city, make fake IDs and change into spare Imperian uniforms while Riyu was smuggled into a backpack, which was difficult for Arin due to his weight. However, when Lloyd, Arin, and Sora were easily compromised due to not wearing shoulder pads and being publicly shamed, Riyu jumps out of the backpack to attack the guard in charge, giving them the opportunity to distract the guards for Sora. However, at some point, he and Arin end up separated from Lloyd.
Mindless Beasts[]
Arin and Riyu attempt to escape from the Imperium Guard, which leads them to hide in a dumpster before the Imperium Teen Protection Force showed up and wanted Arin to teach them after he saved them, all the while trying to keep them from finding Riyu, who was embarrassed by the former's attempts until he was soon discovered by member Percival Tartigrade.
I Will Be the Danger[]
While being interrogated by them, Arin and Riyu use the dragons' rampage to escape them, only to end up separated and Riyu was eventually captured by Percival, who restrains him and moves him on his hoverboard.
The Calm Inside[]
Percival eventually brings Riyu to Beatrix, who has him caged and orders Ras to bring in Dr. LaRow. Arin and Sora attempt to rescue him, but with Beatrix and Ras in the way, they asked Lloyd to create a diversion to get them out. Once they were gone, the two ninja trainees try to free him, only to be stopped by Dr. LaRow's assistant, Jordana.
The Battle of the Second Monastery[]
Riyu watched as Dr. LaRow showed a holo-projection of his fellow dragons being defeated, until the Monastery of Imperium rises, giving Arin the opportunity to disarm Dr. LaRow and watch the two defeat Jordana. The two then proceed to free Riyu, only to be blocked by Ras, who was warned by Dr. LaRow. During the fight however, Ras threw Sora to the control panel of Riyu's cage, freeing him and allowing him the opportunity of sparking Sora to disassemble his cage and use the pieces to trap Ras before they all take off, disable the Photacs, and leave Imperium, through the monastery. Days later, Riyu watched Sora practice before Lloyd, who was in a brief coma from using the Source Dragon of Energy's power, was awake and came across them.

They Call It Doom[]
Riyu accompanied the ninja and the dragons as they continued their quest to find the Yellow Dragon Core. Upon arriving at their destination, the Land of Lost Things, they were shocked to see the valley filled with garbage and debris. While exploring the area, Riyu gave Sora a sock he found. As he leaned in to examine a geyser, he was suddenly blasted into the sky by a powerful explosion of garbage and air. He landed on top of Sora, and the three of them soon spotted Fritz and Spitz, whom they chased after. However, they came face to face with Cole.
Land of Lost Things[]
Absolute Power[]
Cole, Nya, and Sora plan the infiltration to Imperium before Riyu unleashes some power into Sora to create armor and cannons for Jiro before taking off on him and Zanth while Cole stayed behind.
We Are All Dragons[]
Riyu returns to Imperium along with Nya and Sora before Jiro used his cannons to take out the barrier, and assist the other ninja and the Imperium Teen Resistance Force in facing Beatrix, until Jiro has Riyu get both groups to retreat while he and Zanth deal with Beatrix. Retreating to the teens' base, Riyu was uncomfortable being in the same room with Percival, the same boy who hauled him to Beatrix, and was unconvinced by his change of heart, until he revealed his plan to expose Beatrix's scheme and deception.
Arin, Sora, Riyu, and Percival later head for the broadcast tower, where Percival had a spy waiting for them before discovering it was Rapton. In anger, Riyu pushed Rapton down and headbutted him until Percival pulled the former off the latter to listen to his reason. When Dorama attempted to intervene, Riyu was knocked down, but knocked him down on the second turn. He, Arin, Sora, Rapton, and Percival later watch the citizens chant "We are all dragons."
The Power Within[]
Riyu joined the ninja, gathering together for their mission to stop Beatrix. In midst of the battle, Sora urged Riyu to come to her, hoping to unleash dragon power on her. But just as Riyu was about to reach Sora, Beatrix suddenly released a blast of dragon power, creating a MergeQuake. The force of the MergeQuake consumed Riyu, pulling him into the rift. After Lloyd stopped the MergeQuakes, all those who were sucked into them were able to return. Among them was Riyu, who immediately embraced Arin and Sora in a hug.
Riyu accompanied Lloyd as they made their way to Imperium in order to free the Source Dragon of Energy using the Dragon Cores. Prior to their mission, the Source Dragon inquired about Riyu's identity. Lloyd proceeded to introduce Riyu and informed the Source Dragon of Riyu's desire to join him, as he was eager to meet the legendary creature. Upon laying eyes on Riyu, the Source Dragon of Energy remarked that Riyu was indeed a truly unique and extraordinary dragon.
Riyu and Lloyd made their way back to the Monastery, where Riyu had planned to assist Sora in rebuilding her mech by lending her some of his dragon power. However, Sora declined his offer, insisting on fixing the mech herself. Sora then explained to Riyu how she was able to unlock her True Potential. In response, Riyu comforted Sora by nuzzling her. After Arin finished baking Snowberry Pies for everyone, Riyu eagerly joined in to try one of the pastries.

A Pain in the Mech![]
Riyu, along with Arin, Sora, Kai, and Cole went to the Crossroads for the Crossroads noodle cook-off before noticing some Ice Dragons attacking the Lava-Tides, who fight back. While Kai, Cole, and Sora handled both groups, Arin and Riyu ambush the chef, Lava-Tony, where Riyu knocks him down from behind and Arin discovered the Lava-Tides stole the dragons' eggs for their noodles' secret ingredient. Lava-Tony then attempted to flee, only for Riyu to send him crashing into an oven, which then exploded, covering everyone in noodles.
They eventually returned to the monastery, hours later. As Arin begins to explain, Riyu jumps on his shoulder to eat some noodles on him.

Riyu and Sora jump along the top of some pillars, watched by Rontu. While balancing on staffs with Sora, Rontu tells Riyu about his upcoming potential before he started to do some tricks, until he ultimately fell off. Secrets of the Wyldness[]
The Forest of Spirits[]
As they make their way to the Shadow Dojo, Riyu and Arin notice Jordana's buggy passing by with Bonzle before Riyu puts Arin on his back and surprises the latter by flying towards Jordana. Upon catching up to her, Riyu threw Jordana out, allowing Arin to drive the buggy to get Bonzle away until the Blood Moon passes, only to come face to face with Ras, who easily defeats them and takes off with Bonzle.
Rising Ninja[]
As Riyu and Arin regained consciousness, they joined Lloyd and Nya, and together, the four of them headed to the Shadow Dojo to put an end to the Ritual of the Blood Moon. Upon arrival, they were reunited with the other ninja. Riyu swooped in to rescue Sora from a Wolf Mask Claw Warrior, demonstrating his newfound ability to fly, which left Sora in awe. Meanwhile, Cinder unleashed Shatterspin, sending Riyu and the other ninja tumbling. A fierce battle ensued between Kai and Cinder, but the situation escalated when Ras hurled his hammer at Kai, propelling him into the portal leading to the Nether-Space. Riyu attempted to save Kai but was unable to prevent him from being drawn in, which freed Nokt. The remaining ninja fought against the wolf warriors until the portal finally closed, signaling the defeat of the Wolf Clan and the end of the ritual. In an act of desperation, Ras had his master teleport the entire Wolf Clan and the Shadow Dojo to an unknown location. Upon their return to the Cloud Kingdom, Suetonius congratulated the ninja on their victory, but a somber mood hung over them, inclduing Riyu, as they mourned for Kai, who remained trapped in the Nether-Space.
The Shape of Motion[]
Riyu accompanied Arin and Sora on their quest to locate Arin’s parents, making their way to the Administration. While waiting outside, Riyu took a nap atop the Explorer, eagerly anticipating the return of his friends. When Arin and Sora finally emerged, Riyu was overjoyed on seeing them, but Sora quickly emphasized the urgency of their escape. As they began their journey back to the Monastery of Spinjitzu, Riyu asked about the outcome of the mission, only to learn from Arin that it had ended in failure due to a lack of crucial information. Just then, they noticed a dragon plummeting from the sky and rushed to the crash site, where they discovered it was the Matriarch of the Mountain Dragons, gravely injured and stripped of her crown by an unknown attacker. Overcome with emotion, Riyu cried out for his Matriarch and sought solace by nuzzling her. While Sora reached out to the ninja for assistance, Arin proposed releasing the Craglings, recalling how Riyu had once saved them. The Craglings responded by offering the Matriarch cragling mud from their sacred field to aid in her recovery. Upon the arrival of the other ninja, the Matriarch warned Lloyd of an imminent danger and entrusted him with a map. The Matriarch passed away from her injuries, leaving Riyu heartbroken as he mourned with a sorrowful howl alongside the other dragons and Wyldfyre. Lloyd then shared that the Matriarch had been trying to warn them about the potential danger facing the Source Dragons. At that moment, Arin heard a faint cry and noticed that both Riyu and Wyldfyre had also picked up on it. Riyu soon realized that the sound was coming from the Matriarch's nursing pouches, where her daughter, Eridany, was hiding. Lloyd suggested they should return Eridany to the Mountain Dragons, but the ninja were unsure of the herd's whereabouts since they had departed from the Land of the Three Mountains. Fortunately, Riyu, with his unique ability to locate the Mountain Dragons, drew an arrow in the direction of their location. As the ninja and dragons followed his lead, Riyu and Eridany took a moment to look back at the Matriarch one last time before setting off, with Riyu offering his back for Eridany to ride as they joined the others on their journey.
After a while, Riyu's energy levels were lowering. Arin suggested a break, but Riyu was resolute. Suddenly, they were ambushed by Rapton and the Claw Hunters, who were rebranded as the Freebooters. Rapton was about to capture Eridany. However, with the help of the Mountain Dragons, the ninja ultimately triumphed over the Freebooters. They were then led to a World Tree in the World Forest, where Riyu mourned with the Mountain Dragons for the loss of their Matriarch before they returned Eridany to her tribe.
Returning to the monastery, Riyu and Arin found comfort in each other's presence. Suddenly, the Source Dragon of Motion appeared before them. The Source Dragon brought a grave warning, revealing that the same people responsible for the Matriarch's death had also taken the lives of two other Arc Dragons, suggesting that her kind could be in danger as well. Wyldfyre reminded the Source Dragon of Motion about the incredible power of her kind. Yet, the Source Dragon of Motion pointed out that wasn't always true. She recounted troubling events from before the Merge, when not only the Source Dragon of Energy was captured, but another Source Dragon was mysteriously killed. The mention of a Source Dragon's death made Riyu and Arin exchange anxious looks. The Source Dragon of Motion made it clear that if all the Source Dragons were destroyed, so would the Merged Realms. Lloyd then revealed the map that the Matriarch gave to him. The Source Dragon of Motion identified it as the City of Temples, the site of the Tournament of the Sources. The Source Dragon suggested that the attacker of the Matriarch might be linked to this tournament, so she instructed Riyu and the others to participate in the Tournament of the Sources to uncover the identity of their hidden adversary.
Enter the City of Temples[]
Arin shared a new pie recipe with Riyu and Sora, telling them that Frak had taught him how to make it. This upset Riyu because Arin referred to Frak as his best friend, prompting Arin to clarify that Frak was his best friend in addition to Riyu and Sora. Riyu ate the entire pie, catching Arin off guard. Later, when Lloyd came back from the training plateau of the Dragon Masters, Riyu joined the ninja in a unique training exercise where they balanced bowls of stew on their heads. After completing the training, Riyu and Wyldfyre enjoyed the stew together.
Riyu joined the ninja on their journey to the Dragon Stone Shrine, hoping to gain entry to the City of Temples. However, he soon discovered that the ninja had not been invited to the Tournament of the Sources. Undeterred, Riyu joined the ninja and other dragons to find a way to reach the city. Their path was blocked by Security Bots. Arin used his grappling hook to latch onto one of the bots, which propelled him upward toward the city. Riyu followed closely behind Arin. They both ended up at Foundation Street, where they were immediately confronted by more Security Bots, who held them at gunpoint until Frak.
They Gather for the Feast[]
Frak intervened to prevent the Security Bots from taking Riyu and Arin into custody, asserting that they were his guests. He then disclosed that he was a participant in the Tournament of the Sources, having earned the title of Elemental Master of Quake following the Merge. Riyu found it amusing that Frak had accidentally broken a sewer pipe during his initial use of his powers. Soon after, the other ninja arrived, and Frak excused himself to focus on his training.
Roby and Bleckt took the opportunity to show Riyu and the ninja around the city, explaining the details of the Tournament of the Sources along the way. After a discussion with Zant-Tanz, Riyu and the ninja received an invitation to a welcome banquet scheduled for that evening. At the banquet, Riyu was taken aback to see someone who looked like Beatrix, only to discover that it was actually Zeatrix, who sparked a heated argument with the ninja, Roby, and Ras. Later that night, Riyu prepared to sleep in the ninja's quarters while they talked about who might have murdered the Matriarch. Riyu shared the bed with Wyldfyre, who used Riyu's wing like a blanket. However, in the dead of night, an attacker bot crept into their quarters. Sensing the danger, Riyu woke up and let out a roar to warn the ninja about the intruder just as the assassin lunged to stab Lloyd with a Gilba Thorn.
Inside the Maze[]
Riyu joined Arin to look into the attack that happened the previous night, following a scent that led them to a dead-end alley. In that alley, they discovered a small symbol scratched into the wall, which was a clue about the origin of the bots. Just as they were about to examine it more closely, Frak showed up and suggested they go for some pies. Arin agreed to the idea, mainly because Riyu was feeling hungry. While they enjoyed their meal, Frak snatched an extra piece of pie. When Riyu tried to take it, Frak quickly ate it all before Riyu could get a bite. Riyu then caught a familiar scent on Frak, which made him feel uneasy. Meanwhile, as Arin and Frak talked, they ran into Wyldfyre, who made her obvious crush on Roby known.
Smelling Frak up close, Riyu picked up a familiar scent.
Frak had to meet with his team soon, leaving Riyu still eyeing him with suspicion. Later, when Arin and Riyu returned to their quarters, Sora arrived with startling news—Frak's team was actually the Wolf Clan. Arin found it hard to believe at first, but Riyu expressed his doubts. Arin brushed off their worries, thinking they were jumping to conclusions.
As the first match of the tournament was about to start, Riyu and the others headed to the Games Plaza. Riyu observed the tournament's opening, where Zane competed against Zur, followed by Nya's match against Jay, a long-lost friend of the ninja. Nya emerged victorious, and Riyu stood and watch as the ninja came with the terms that Jay was now evil. During Nya's fireworks celebration, Riyu heared Kai's attempts to reach out to him from the Nether-Space, given the psychic link that Riyu unintentionally created with him when he some of his scales on Kai during the Ritual of the Blood Moon.
United We Fall[]
Riyu confronting Ras.
After Nya’s match, Riyu confronted Ras at the Wolf Clan quarters demanding Jay's return. However Riyu learned Ras had sent Jay away as punishment for his failure.
Riyu dedicated his time to uncovering where Kai's voice was coming from. As night fell, he discovered that the sound was emanating from the Wolf Clan's quarters. Determined to investigate further, Riyu sought a way to enter until Arin arrived, and together they managed to sneak inside. While Arin searched for information about the Matriarch and the attacker robots, Riyu continued his quest to locate Kai's voice. He sniffed around and realized that the voice was coming from a stone made of Dragon Ivory. Riyu handed the stone to Arin, but to Arin's surprise, he could not hear Kai's voice. Just then, Ras arrived. Riyu listened intently as Arin and Ras discussed Arin's potential, revealing that Sora had deceived Arin into believing he had performed Object Spinjitzu during the Ritual of the Blood Moon. Seizing the moment, Riyu discreetly took the Dragon Ivory stone from Arin and hid it in his mouth. Ras then claimed he could be a better mentor for Arin to unlock his potential than Lloyd. Arin firmly rejected this idea, stating he would never ally with Ras due to his malevolent nature, a sentiment Riyu echoed. Ras then mentioned his desire to reverse the Merge, leaving both Arin and Riyu puzzled. He went on to disclose that it was Wu who had instigated the Merge.
Truth and Lies[]
The Sword Shatters[]
Riyu remained in the ninja's quarters while the others went off to train. As Nya got ready to search for Jay, she and Riyu suddenly heard Kai's voice. Noticing that Nya could also hear him, Riyu revealed the Dragon Ivory stone to her. However, Kai was unable to respond to Nya, prompting Riyu to empower her with dragon power, which created a psychic connection between Kai, Nya, and himself. Riyu listened intently as Kai and Nya discussed the Forbidden Five and Jay. Nya then realized that the Dragon Ivory could also be used to create a portal to the Nether-Space, which would help free Kai and Bonzle. Just as she shared this idea, they were unexpectedly confronted by Nokt and Rox, who had been possessing Jordana since the Blood Moon Ritual, and they were taken captive.
Elements of Betrayal[]
Riyu and Nya finally met up with Cole, Zane, and Arin at the Monastery of Gates, where Riyu warmly embraced Arin. Just then, Nokt and Rox showed up with the intention of freeing the remaining members of the Forbidden Five. Nokt approached the Monastery and destroyed the rock bridge, causing Arin to fall, but Riyu quickly caught him. They made their way back to the Monastery, where Arin used his Spinjitzu to push Nokt away. Soon after, Ras and Roby arrived, with Roby aiming to take back the stolen Elemental Powers from Nokt. A fierce battle broke out, with Riyu, Arin, and Ras working together to hold Nokt down, but Nokt retaliated by using Ice to throw Riyu aside. After Nokt freed the Forbidden Five, Arin took a moment to help both Riyu and Ras. When the other ninja joined the fight, Riyu teamed up with them and Ras against Nokt, who used Ras' hammer to knock Riyu, Arin, and Zane out of the way.
As Arin faced Nokt alone, Riyu noticed the Crowns of Horns and reminded Nya of her connection to the Dragon Ivory. Riyu sparked Nya with dragon power, enabling her to use it on the Crowns of Horns, which freed Kai and Bonzle from the Nether-Space. A battle broke out between Kai and Nokt, but Nokt soon gained the upper hand. Riyu and the other ninja tried to help Kai, but Nokt pushed them back. Roby succeeded in taking back the stolen Elemental Powers, restoring them to the Elemental Masters. However, the Forbidden Five managed to escape through a portal to the Cloud Kingdom, taking Ras as a hostage. Arin chased after them to rescue Ras, but as he entered the portal, it exploded, leaving him, Ras, and the Forbidden Five stranded in different realms. Kai reminded everyone of his return, and the ninja along with Riyu embraced him joyfully.
Riyu made his way back to the Games Plaza, where he participated in the victory ceremony alongside the ninja. During the event, Roby officially declared Sora as the Champion of the Sources. Afterward, Riyu returned to the Monastery of Spinjitzu, where he was in the company of Geo, Bonzle, and Frak. Frak was affectionately petting Riyu when he spotted Lloyd, Sora, and Wyldfyre stepping out of the portal gate. Excited, Riyu quickly went to join Sora and Wyldfyre, and they all walked away together.

I Alone Can Save Them[]
Fallen Wishes[]
Riyu and the ninja were trying to figure out the purpose of the Prismatic Blade when, without warning, he and Sora were teleported to Djinjago, where they quickly reunited with Nya. The trio soon witnessed Arrakore under attack from Rox and the Dragonian Warriors, who demanded that Arrakore repair the yellow Prismatic Blade. Riyu took to the skies to face the Dragonian Warriors. During the fight, Riyu and Sora discovered that the Forbidden Five intended to collect the Prismatic Blades to unleash Thunderfang, a dragon capable of obliterating the Merged Realms. As the fight raged on, Riyu lifted Sora to evade two attacking warriors and then soared toward Arrakore. Meanwhile, Nya and Riyu continued to fend off the Dragonian Warriors until Sora suggested they make small wishes to gain an advantage over Rox. Riyu wished for a giant rubber ball, which Arrakore summoned to encase one of the Dragonian Warriors inside it, and Riyu began to play with the oversized ball.
To give Arrakore a moment of respite, Riyu and the ninja pressed on with their battle against the Dragonian Warriors. Among them was a Dragonian Warrior distinguished by his backward helmet, who seized Riyu until Sora intervened. Rox succeeded in trapping Arrakore within the timepiece, forcing him to repair the yellow Prismatic Blade. Despite Riyu's attempts to thwart her, he was immobilized by the same Dragonian Warrior. Seizing the opportunity, Rox exploited Arrakore's powers to fulfill her whims, messing around Riyu and the others. However, Sora used her Elemental Powers on the timepiece, shattering it and freeing Arrakore from confinement. Riyu and the ninja continued their struggle until the warriors finally retreated. Ryu and Sora attempted to stop Rox, but she countered their efforts with Shatterspin, sending them sprawling. Once the danger had subsided, Riyu allowed Arrakore, who was impressed by Riyu's growth, to rest on his back. In a final act of strength for the day, Arrakore used his remaining energy to wish Riyu, Sora, and Nya back to their original location. As they reappeared in the First Land, their landing was abrupt, resulting in them tumbling onto Lloyd, prompting them to recount the entire ordeal to their fellow ninjas.
Their Draconic Majesty's Request[]
As Riyu and the ninja made their way back to the dragon stables through the portal gate from the First Land Monastery, they were greeted by Kai and Nya. The group discussed the significance of the Prismatic Blades and their potential to liberate Thunderfang. A pressing concern was how to prevent the Forbidden Five from acquiring the Prismatic Weapons. Since they couldn't destroy the blue Prismatic Blade, they needed a strategy to locate the last one. Zane and P.I.X.A.L. upgraded the blue Prismatic Blade, equipping it with the ability to track the elusive final blade. Lloyd, Kai, and Nya mounted Riyu, setting off toward the World Forest in search of the last Prismatic Blade. Upon their arrival, they encountered Arin and Ras.
Crashing Together[]
As Riyu and the ninja confronted Arin and Ras, the ninja accused Ras of keeping Arin prisoner. However, Arin quickly came to Ras' defense, viewing him as his new mentor, which left Riyu taken aback. The group soon discovered that Ras possessed the final Prismatic Blade, which was the Returning Blade. In a moment of conflict, Arin unleashed a Spinjitzu attack on Frak to protect Ras, leaving Riyu and the others heartbroken over Arin's choice. Just then, Ras was abducted by Rogue. Riyu teamed up with Sora and Zane to pursue Arin, who had taken flight on his glider in pursuit of Rogue. Their chase was interrupted by an onslaught of Dragonian Warriors led by Drix. Riyu, using his tail, swung a branch from one of the World Trees at the advancing warriors. During the battle, Riyu was overpowered by two warriors, but Zane intervened just in time to rescue him. Meanwhile, Drix succeeded in seizing the last two Prismatic Blades and made his escape. Realizing that the Forbidden Five could now unleash Thunderfang, Riyu was overwhelmed with despair.
Chaos Unchained[]
Riyu and the ninja were heartbroken when they discovered that Arin's parents had perished during the Merge. Arin emphasized the urgency of preventing Thunderfang's release, warning that failure to act would result in further casualties. He proposed collaborating with the ninja, who readily accepted his offer. Despite their enthusiasm, Zane voiced concerns about their chances of catching up to Drix, who was moving at an astonishing pace. However, Lloyd quickly devised a plan to use the portal gates to close the distance.
Lloyd, Kai, and Frak rode on Riyu as they made their way back to the hangar bay, but the slick, freshly waxed floors caused Riyu to slip, leading to a chaotic moment while Lloyd remained steady on his back. Once they regained their footing, Lloyd instructed everyone to gather at the dragon stables shortly. Later, at the stables, Riyu joined Zane, Lloyd, and P.I.X.A.L. as they constructed a machine to energize the portal gate, enabling their vehicles to pass through. Once the gate was activated, Riyu and the team stepped through, arriving in the First Land.
Upon arriving at the location of Thunderfang's prison, Riyu and the ninja noticed the presence of the Winds of Chaos. As Drix arrived, a battle erupted between the ninja and the Dragonian Warriors. In a moment of desperation, Drix attempted to flee, but Riyu, Zane, and P.I.X.A.L. effectively trapped him from one side. Riyu pointed out that they had anticipated Drix's escape route, a fact that Zane conveyed to the group. The skirmish raged on, but soon the remaining members of the Forbidden Five joined the fray, bringing with them additional Dragonian Warriors. Just as Drix made a move to escape wielding the Returning Blade, Riyu lunged at him, successfully knocking the blade from his grasp. The battle for the blue Prismatic Blade then erupted. As several Dragonian Warriors lunged at Frak in an attempt to wrest the blade from him, Riyu intercepted and seized it. Drix morphed into a swarm of flies, aiming to snatch the blade from Riyu's grasp. Quick on his feet, Riyu hurled the blue Prismatic Blade toward Arin, who caught it deftly. Unfortunately, the Forbidden Five succeeded in acquiring both blades and set off to liberate Thunderfang. Riyu and the ninja pursued them but were soon ensnared in the Winds of Chaos. Riyu clutched Arin tightly, shielding him from the tempest.
The Shatter Dragon[]
Riyu made a desperate attempt to rescue Lloyd, Arin, and Frak from danger. Just as a massive boulder threatened to hit him, Wyldfyre appeared unexpectedly, using a powerful blast to shatter the rock, leaving Riyu astonished at the timely intervention. Together with the ninja, Riyu managed to evade the Winds of Chaos. Unfortunately, a boulder struck Riyu from behind, sending him tumbling toward a cluster of sharp rocks. Fortunately, Sora acted quickly, blasting the rocks away just in time to save Riyu from fatality. With the help of Arin and Sora, Riyu got back on his feet, reuniting with the ninja. However, the mood shifted when the ninja realized they had failed to prevent the Forbidden Five from escaping with the remaining blades. Suddenly, Thunderfang emerged from the depths of the First Land, leading to a battle with the Chaos Dragon. As Thunderfang stomped the ground, boulders were sent flying in all directions. Riyu carried Zane as he soared through the air, ensuring Zane's safety while allowing him and Sora to confront Thunderfang in the skies. When Thunderfang turned his attention to Kai and Nya, Riyu, Zane, and Sora quickly intervened, launching attacks at the Shatter Dragon. However, Thunderfang attempted to consume Zane and Sora, causing Riyu to lose his grip and fall.
As Thunderfang lunged to seize Lloyd's soul and absorb his Source Dragon energy, the other ninja quickly banded together, launching a coordinated attack that successfully thwarted Thunderfang's plan. When Lloyd collapsed, Riyu sprang into action, allowing Lloyd to mount him as they made a hasty retreat from Thunderfang's grasp. However, their escape was short-lived as Dragonian Warriors descended upon them, clinging to Riyu and hindering their flight. Thunderfang prepared to drain Lloyd's soul, and this time, he succeeded. The Dragonian Warriors continued their assault on Riyu until Riyu spotted Arin. Using Object Spinjitzu, Arin hurled an elixir from the Well of the Lost at Thunderfang, resulting in the Chaos Dragon's demise. With Thunderfang defeated, the souls he had captured, save for those of the Forbidden Five, were freed and moved on to the afterlife, allowing Lloyd's soul to return to him. As the ninja gathered to rejoice. Yet, it was interrupted by Ras, who reminded Arin of their mission to find his parents, insisting it was time to leave. Riyu growled in frustration at Ras' presence, while Arin reluctantly agreed, much to Riyu's dismay. To everyone's astonishment, Sora decided to accompany Arin and Ras on their quest. Riyu felt devastated as he watched them depart. Shortly after, the group encountered Nya alongside Rogue, who was revealed to be Jay in disguise. They all returned to the dragon stables, where Frohicky informed them of a victory party hosted by their friends and allies. However, Riyu and the ninja were surprised to learn from Jay that Arin's parents were alive.
The Hollow Ones[]
Riyu joined the other ninja and dragons as they made their way to the Dragon Masters' plateau to pay their respects to Egalt, who was passing away from Wasting Sickness. Riyu and the others were devastated as Egalt shared his final moments with the ninja and Rontu. He joined the dragons and Wyldfyre in a mournful roar following Egalt's death. As the ninja prepared to return to the Monastery, Riyu spoke with the other dragons before approaching Rontu, inviting her to stay with them in the dragon stables. Rontu, however, graciously declined, feeling the need to remain on the training plateau. With a heavy heart, Riyu returned to the Monastery, saddened by Rontu's decision.
Later, while playing with a pair of nunchucks in the stables, Riyu noticed the other dragons' despondency over Egalt's loss, prompting him to cease his play. Just then, Rontu arrived, having reconsidered her earlier choice. She explained that she decided to live at the Monastery and continue Riyu's training, believing it was what Egalt would have wanted. Riyu and Zanth embraced Rontu.
Between You and Lee[]
Riyu and Frak were training under the guidance of Rontu, Kai, and Cole in the monastery's courtyard when an attempt at Spinjitzu led to an accidental collision between them, creating chaos. Frustrated, Frohicky suggested they find a different training location. While Cole, Kai, and Frak headed to the Land of Lost Things, Riyu proposed to Rontu that they use Kreel's Junkyard as their new training ground. Upon arrival, Riyu began to wreak havoc, destroying everything in sight as part of his practice. However, the mess he created while Kreel was away necessitated an apology to her. Fortunately, Kreel was understanding, as she had intended to clear out the junk herself but had never gotten around to it. With that, Riyu continued his destructive training unabated.
The Screaming Earth[]
For Whom the Bell Tolls[]
Upon her return from the City of Temples, Sora was met with an embrace from Riyu, which sent them both tumbling to the ground. Although Riyu was upset over her and Arin's departure, Sora reassured him with the promise that Arin would eventually come back. With a playful groan, Riyu hoisted Sora onto his back and carried her to rejoin the group, where they learned that Thunderfang had returned with the intent of gathering enough souls to transform into a Source Dragon. Meanwhile, Sora and Wyldfyre were on a mission to reach Djinjago to awaken one half of the Arc Dragon of Focus. As Riyu contemplated the idea of having Zanth transport them, they were approached by Rontu, who commended Riyu's potential. Zanth agreed to take the group to Djinjago, while Rontu advised Riyu to focus on his training. Acknowledging the importance of their mission, Riyu remarked that training would be meaningless if they failed to save the world. Recognizing Riyu's wisdom, Rontu urged him to proceed with caution.
After Kai and Frak returned with a hollowed Cole, Riyu, Sora, Wyldfyre, Frak, and Zanth set off for Djinjago. During their journey, the ninja decided to practice the spell song intended to awaken the Arc Dragon of Focus. However, when Wyldfyre joined in, singing off-key, Riyu covered his ears in distress. As they continued, Zanth suddenly soared through the air at an astonishing speed, leaving Riyu bewildered as he struggled to keep pace. Upon their arrival, Riyu was so fatigued that he collapsed onto onto the ground, only to spring up in excitement when Arrakore appeared.
When Doves Cry[]
As they regrouped with Arrakore, the ninja revealed their quest to locate the Cave of Bells in Djinjago to awaken the Arc Dragon of Focus. Arrakore felt relieved that Thunderfang was not in the Spectral Lands, but Riyu's troubled expression soon made him aware that Thunderfang had indeed died and went there, where he planned to gain his power. Arrakore clarified that although he had restored Djinjago's Cave of Bells, he lacked the magical power to revive the Arc Dragon of Focus, as his abilities were insufficient to bring back living beings as of now. Fortunately, with Zanth's enhancement of Djinjagan Magic, Arrakore explained that he could restore the Arc Dragon, provided they were not interrupted.
While Arrakore and Zanth focused on this task, Riyu remained on guard, while Sora and Frak practiced the spell song. Their efforts were soon threatened by the arrival of the Freebooters, who aimed to steal the treasure. To avoid disrupting Arrakore and Zanth, the ensuing battle had to be conducted quietly. Riyu stealthily pursued the Claw Hunters to thwart their theft. As Rapton secured the treasure, he and the Claw Hunters made their escape, deploying bombs to hinder the ninja. Sora managed to dismantle one bomb, while Riyu swatted another with his tail, sending it soaring into the sky where it detonated. Once Arrakore and Zanth completed the restoration of the Arc Dragon of Focus, Riyu and the others hurried to the Cave of Bells, where they encountered the tan half of the Arc Dragon. However, in the chaos of the fight, the ninja had forgotten the spell song. Riyu, Sora, and Wyldfyre attempted to recall it, but Frak prematurely rang the bells, wasting their first attempt, and Sora stumbled on the second. Wyldfyre succeeded in ringing the spell song, successfully awakening the tan half of the Arc Dragon of Focus.
Chaos Reigns[]
Riyu stood among the other ninja, contemplating whether the Arc Dragon of Focus had truly awakened. Suddenly, they were ambushed by Kur and a squad of Spectral Dragonians, forcing them to prepare for battle. Riyu dodged the attacks from the Spectral Dragonians. Kur attempted to unleash Shatterspin to shatter the crystals linked to the Arc Dragon, but Riyu countered her move with a headbutt. He charged at Kur, only to be sent sprawling by her Shatterspin.
Wyldfyre confronted Kur, creating an opening for Riyu to strike from behind before fending off the Spectral Dragonians. Kur was relentless in her efforts to destroy the crystals, momentarily halting Sora, Frak, and Wyldfyre in their tracks. Just as she was about to succeed, Riyu performed Spinjitzu for the first time, defeating Kur, which earned him accolades from the ninja for mastering the technique. After the battle, they caught a glimpse of the cave's reflection, revealing that Lloyd and Arin had triumphed over Thunderfang by commanding the Arc Dragon of Focus.
With Thunderfang vanquished, the group readied themselves to return to Ninjago. However, with Zanth still in a deep slumber, they had to resort to using the portal gate. To their dismay, instead of arriving back in Ninjago, they found themselves in an unfamiliar place. The portal gate locked behind them, rendering it unusable and leaving Riyu and the others stranded and separated from the rest of their friends.
